This sunny room in a shared apartment has a comfortable memory foam topped bed, desk, chair, and drawers. The apartment is centrally located in San Francisco, and it is two blocks from the nearest subway stop.
This spacious private room is a part of a three bedroom apartment. The apartment has a full kitchen (microwave, coffee machine, oven, stove, refrigerator, toaster, juicer, blender, etc.) and a washer and dryer. You can use basically anything. I also have detergent, which you can use for free. The room is very large, clean and the sheets are fresh and changed around 5pm-7pm on the day of your arrival. There will be freshly washed towels for you. There is a desk for you to use with a chair. The house has one printer, which you can use. I also have an iron and dryer for your use as well, which is generally on the laundry room shelf. There are additional sheets, blankets, and towels, for you if you would like available in the hallway closet.
There is a high-speed wired connection and wifi (100 mb download speeds). It is very fast and has been very dependable.
Location, Transportation, and Parking
Our location is very accessible because it is in the very center of San Francisco. We are 2 blocks away (6 minute walk) from the 16th St. BART station, which offers a thirty minute direct ride to San Francisco Airport. This is There are many bus routes that are right outside the apartment. A taxi from the airport takes about 20 minutes. There is free street parking available (with street cleaning limitations), and the apartment is near the freeway for those who need to get on Highway 101. I have detailed directions for you about parking, which should make it a lot easier for you. There is also a gas station on the other side of the same block.
Arrival and Departure
Since I travel often for work, I may or may not be here right when you arrive. There is an easy way for you to access the house even when I am away--I'll give you a key lock code that gives you access to the house key. In order to make your stay easy, if there are no guests staying directly before you or after you, I want you to be able to arrive and leave when you would like that day. If there is a guest leaving on the day of your arrival, I will ask them to leave at a reasonable hour (mid-afternoon), and ask you to do the same if someone else is arriving on the day of your departure (this is not that common, actually). You can absolutely drop your bag off early in the morning and roam around, but you may not have access to the room until later that day--this is so you can roam around without carrying around bags if you arrive very early in the morning. Again, I want to make it easiest for all people, and I want your stay here to be easy.
The Neighborhood (and Safety)
While the Mission area is alive and busy, my street is fairly quiet. There are hundreds of great restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and many bars if you want to go out at night. Coffee shops are everywhere, and there are many nearby grocery stores. The Safeway is a 10-15 minute walk away and FoodsCo and Rainbow Grocery are even closer (5 minute walk). Since the location is very accessible, it is, in my opinion, and many of my guests', an ideal location to access various tourist attractions. We are also a 10 minute walk from Delores Park, from which you can have a view of the entire city. I am privileged in that I have never felt unsafe walking around late at night as a male, but I also had two female housemates who came home late at night often because of work (they lived here for two years), and they never had a problem coming home by themselves (late at night). I'm sure they took precautions late at night as they would in any busy city area (walking on main streets, etc.), but they never had any negative incident occur to them during their stay here.
I am a pretty easygoing host. Ask me anything you'd like, and I'll get back to you as soon possible.
Guest will have access to the kitchen appliances (and anything else you might need), washer, dryer, clean linens, extra blankets in the hallway closet.
Interaction with Guests
I am generally away from the apartment once per month for work. I am happy to answer any questions you have at any time, but I tend to give guests space to do whatever it is they want to do.
The Mission is a very eclectic and has a rich cultural history in San Francisco. Nearby there is virtually anything you might want. Incredible coffee (Four Barrel), parks (Dolores Park), brunch places (Mission Beach Cafe, Foreign Cinema Cafe), all kinds of food, bakeries (Tartine), many taquerias (the famous La Taqueria is one BART stop away, down Mission St.), and a vibrant night life.
We are two blocks away from the nearest BART Station (16th St. BART), half a block away from the nearest bus stop, and there is free street parking nearby. I have a long write up of exactly where you need to park if you bring a car that I can share with you once you book.
We are also 20-30 minutes away from SFO (depending on time of day/traffic) via car. It typically takes 40-50 minutes via BART.
Other Things to Note
Please let me know when you are planning to arrive and leave. Generally, I am flexible about arrival and departure times because I know guests come and leave at random times throughout the day. I want to make it as easy as possible for both departing guests and incoming guests (if they are departing and arriving on the same day, for example)-- I'll do my best to be accommodating on both ends of your trip.
The rooms are generally cleaned by the cleaning lady between 2pm and 5pm during the day of your arrival. So if you happen to arrive before, you're absolutely welcome to drop off your bags and goods (and you can still stay in the room), but know that it might not be absolutely ready until the cleaners clear up the room entirely. I only do this so that those who come into the city before don't have to run around with their bags.
The room is yours to use fully, and the kitchen/washer/dryer are available for you to use (there is also free detergent for you). No other rules than to treat the place with care and to treat others with kindness and respect.
Great place, clean, easily accessible and in a great location. Had no problems. Yong, while not there while I was visiting, was very quick to respond to any questions I had. Highly recommended
Small and rustic, but it gets the job done. I really loved the direct sunshine in the bedroom and the availability of a full-sized desk. The bed was great, maybe too comfortable--I slept in quite a while on the weekend! The availability of laundry machines and a full kitchen was quite convenient.
I really had a blast staying here. The neighborhood is really exciting and creative and the apartment is nice, clean and comfortable. I had conversations with several of the guests that were very enjoyable and the onsite laundry was very much appreciated. I would recommend this to any of my friends if they needed a place to stay in SF.
The only thing I would raise as a point for host and guest awareness: When I visited, there were no locks on the doors for when you leave the room and there are other guests in the house who all seemed nice but you never know! I had a few thousand dollars worth of computer and camera equipment with me and I just had to try my best to hide it in the room.
Everything worked out great though and I had an awesome time.
Good place to stay! It was just what I needed. It was very accommodating. The host was there if I needed anything but not over present or there too much. Centrally located. I would do it again.
Wow, what a stay in the Mission at this home hosted by Yong. Amazing experience. While all of my colleagues stayed at hotels in the city - I got to stay an awesome place in a real San Fran neighborhood, commute on BART, drink amazing coffee, and eat world famous burritos.
Everything was just as promised. Yong was kind and helpful. I had a lovely night.

I am an easy going host. I am midwesterner from southern Indiana, went to college out on the east coast, worked abroad in Southeast Asia post-graduation, studied abroad for a masters degree in Ireland, and moved to San Francisco a few years ago. I love traveling, running, and I am generally away from San Francisco once per month.
