first room after entry, good room to keep your suitcase and your shoes. there is one dresser and a closet and a writing desk and a single size bed in this room.
1000 square feet 5 rooms apt, 5th floor 'walk up' in prewar historic building.
there are a master bedroom, living room, kitchen/dining, and the second bedroom for your luggage with closet & dresser with a twin size bed, a small bathroom with cast iron craw feet tub with a hand held shower and a very long hall way. very cozy, sensible and antique...i think every piece of furniture is one of a kind. the apt has bare and untreated original floor except the kitchen.
it is not for people who needs hi fi entertainment system, freezing air conditioned room or perfectly finished waxed floor.
high quality air filter, organic queen size bed, one twin size bed, breville juicer, coffee machine and toaster, steamer iron, ionized hair dryer, portable stereo, mielle vacuum, hi speed wifi, small a/c units, italian(bellora) and belgium linen sheets, japanese organic bath towels.
laundry/dry cleaning place is in next door building and very good japanese restaurant on the ground floor 'in' the building. in the same block, there is a excellent health food store and a beautiful bar and such. the whole food market(YMCA gym) on houston is 5 minutes(4 blocks) away.
you are 5 minutes walk away from F train and 7 minutes walk from 6, N&R. less than 10 minutes, walking distance(5 mins) to norita and beyond is soho.
it is almost peculiar in the middle of downtown new york but when you walk in, you will find yourself in a serene environment with lovely objects and textiles where you can unwind and relax. ideal for a single person or a couple or 2 best friends!
"things to consider"
no elevator...5th floor walk up for your legs and lungs!
no door to the master bedroom, it is open to the living room. ( but the whole place is yours only and the other bedroom is at the opposite side of the apt around the corner from the living room)
no black out curtains for the bedroom...very dim so if you need it to be pitch black in any hour, you may want to bring your eye mask.
no standing shower(as shown in photos)...just a loose hose shower in the craw foot bath tub...old fashioned.
no kettle...i make hot water in pots but I am a tea lover.
take off your shoes, no smoking, no parties.
be considerate with the neighbors.
leave the apt the way I leave it for you
do not remove any art and objects from the apt.
We were lucky enough to stay in Colette's apartment for a month and we had a perfect stay. The location it the best in NYC right in the east village walking distance from
Chinatown and LES - a perfect place for someone who wants to get to know the coolest parts of the city. The apartment itself was really pretty and had a great vibe. Colette was super great and helped us with whatever we needed, she was easy to get hold of and has great taste! Our stay was a pleasure
We've been staying at Colette's flat for a week, and immediately felt at home! The appartment is very well located on the lower East Village, feels very original and cosy. Colette was an exceptional host, being available on short notice, not sparing advice on things to see and she even had her fridge filled for us! A five star recommendation!
Staying at Colette's apt has been fantastic! The apartment is very nicely decorated, cozy and comfortabele. It gave us the feeling of living as NY locals do. Also because it's located amongst everything you need. Restaurants, shops, places to have breakfast, the Subway. It's all close by. East Village is really vibrant and alive so we had the feeling we were in the right place! Colette was not there during our stay, but she made sure all was well organized. We had frequent contact with her during our stay, because she wanted to make sure all worked out well for us. I would definately recommend Colette's to anyone who would like to stay and live in Manhattan like the New Yorkers do!
We stayed in Colette's apartment for ten days and had a wonderful time. The apartment has a perfect location in East Village, with restaurants, bars and shopping around the corner. Colette is a very caring host, eager to make you feel at home. She greeted us in person and left breakfast, snacks, fresh fruit and flowers for us to enjoy. Her apartment is so special: very tastefully decorated with unique and beautiful details. The beds are very comfortable and during the week we discovered and admired new things in the apartment all the time. Thank you so much, Colette, for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment! We felt at home, like real New Yorkers. Hope to come back again! Take care!
I feel really privileged to have stayed in Colette´s apartment. She was courteous yet informal, helpful and friendly, and showed a real concern that my stay in NY should be as good as possible. I felt trusted and well taken care of, above and beyond my expectations as an Airbnb first-timer. The apartment is comfortable, clean and excellently situated, and with a real sense of history and character.
I wouldn´t want to stay anywhere else! Cheers Colette, hope to meet again.

About the Host, Colette
i travel so much with my work and when i'm home, I love making my home beautiful and cozy. I find things from my travel that I think precious and bring them back to my place.
my work is sort of public so i cannot post a photo of myself...sorry!
I am relatively new at this but my place seem to attract people similar to myself. I have had so far most wonderful guests!
