A fabulous 2 bedroom apartment in Blackrock, South Dublin.
There are two bedrooms, both double, one with twin beds, and the other with a double bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen (please enjoy using my Graham Knuttel quirky crockery) and an easy to use shower in the bathroom. There are laundry and ironing facilities and Wifi access.
There is tv in the living area, a dvd player and a library of dvds, a reading corner with access to a library of books (including some great Irish writers - Flann O'Brien, John McGahern, Edna O'Brien, Molly Keane, Emma Donoghue, Colm Toibin, Pat McCabe) and magazines for varied interests, a radio and a music centre with a collection of music to suit most taste.
It is a three minute walk to the quiet, pretty village of Blackrock, which is south of Dublin city, with fine restaurants, pubs and two shopping centres. Make a trip to the market, pick up some treasures - an old book, DVD, map or print - or have a juice, a pancake or popcorn. At night time go to the Grape Escape wine bar for fabulous wines and cheeses in the most amazing building! Or for a more traditional drink head to Jack O'Rourkes.
The air coach goes directly from Arrivals in Dublin Airport to Blackrock village in approx. 35 minutes. Blackrock train station is a five minute walk away with Dublin Area Rapid Transport (DART ) to Dublin City Centre (15 minutes away ) and Dun Laoghaire (10 minutes away).
The walk to Dun Laoghaire takes about thirty minutes along a beautiful coastal walk, through sparkling Seapoint and you have to take the detour into Monkstown to sample great coffee shops, restaurants and interior shops, well worth the walk. You can swim in Seapoint almost all year round, if you are brave enough!
It is approximately a fifteen minute drive to the M50 giving access to all the major routes to any part of Ireland. If you have time come to my home county, Wexford, with miles of beautiful beaches, many choices of great restaurants and numerous places of interest to visit.
At the apartment there is a private patio overlooking Dublin Bay and a lovely communal garden. There is access across the railway bridge via a rustic walk to a jetty and the sea. I have fishing nets if you want to catch crabs! You can swim from here too! Sit back on the patio and enjoy the sea air, hear the DART trundle by in the distance and count the ships passing.
This is a secure apartment block of only 24 apartments in a quiet residential area with a private car park. And don't forget to leave milk out for the cat that wanders in if encouraged and occasionally the dachshund, he loves milk too!
Please have a look at my Guidebook for the local hot spots.
Tess was an excellent hostess! She met myself and 2 friends upon arriving and made us feel right at home! Every place I have stayed through airbnb has been great and good and easy communication with hosts, but Tess raised the bar and was great and very timely in communication. Blackrock, the area of this apartment, is lovely. We enjoyed the town and the shops within it for it was just a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend staying at Tess'!
Lovely apartment, great location, wonderful host!
Tess met us at the apartment when we arrived in Dublin at the crack of dawn, and she had the fridge already stocked so we didn't even have to go out and find breakfast. Every little thing was thought of, from a huge basket of extra toiletries to spare towels to toys for the children. The view of Dublin Bay is stunning, and the lovely shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants of Blackrock are just a few steps away. It's also very well served by public transport, for anyone travelling without a car.
If you are travelling with small children, you should note that there's only a shower and no bathtub.
We loved staying here and would be delighted to do it again.
tess ist eine wunderbare Gastgeberin, die Räumlichkeiten sind liebevoll eingerichtet.
Great location. Excellent and caring host. I really enjoyed my stay!
Tess was a great host who really thought of everything! She was very easy to contact and extremely easy to talk to (she also has a great sense of humour!). The apartment was clean, comfortable and a short DART ride away from the city centre. It also has some great views. I would definitely recommend staying at Tess' apartment! It certainly made our trip to Dublin very special and we can't thank her enough
Tess is quite simply an extraordinarily delightful and excellent host! She gets 10 stars out of 5. From having purchases us groceries for lunch and breakfast to kindly posting me a couple of items I left in her apartment, she goes so far beyond the expected. The apartment itself is perfectly located - had great runs early in the morning along the water - and very close to short train to city. Most beautiful views from the living area and we ate our dinner one night on the patio/deck with pot plants around us and the sea in front of us. The furniture and other fittings were all comfortable, clean and had a lovely style - just like the host! Recommend Tess's place unreservedly!!!
Great location close to dart. Great view.
I highly recommend staying at Tess's condo. The place is amazing. It's clean very comfortable. It's just a few minutes’ walk from the Dart so getting to Dublin is so easy.
Although Dublin is very close there is some much to do in Blackrock and the neighboring towns. you can access from this location, the property around Tess's apartment is great to explore on it's on. I highly recommend the ferry ride to Howth, it's a great day trip.
Fantastic location with great views from ground floor apartment in older building. It's about a five minute walk to the DART station. There are great shops and pubs in Blackrock and beautiful walks by Seapoint to Dun Laoghaire,
Tess was very welcoming, meeting us on arrival and providing start off supplies of food, milk and wine
The apartment was very well equipped with dishes and cutlery for 6 people. We were able to host a lunch for 8.
The bedrooms are a little small, especially the double bedroom, the smaller one, but then who spends much time in bed on holidays!
We would go back.
This is a beautiful house and the host is even more gracious and warm. We had a lovely family holiday with our 2 kids and would go back there again in a blink if we could.
