The Space

RELAX! I can pick you up at the AIRPORT if necessary AND assist you in getting oriented to the area. Do you need a RIDE to somewhere LOCAL? It's ALL about convenience and after that's settled, we go back to RELAX again and review!

This Master Suite is easily the most private and luxurious space in all of Amherst, quite possibly Hampshire County! This modern bright home was constructed only ten years ago and is a well appointed spacious home in one of Amherst's finest neighborhoods. It's surrounded by the 86 acre Wentworth conservation area. Biking, walking and jogging trails are only minutes away (depending how fast you can run!). It's only a 2 mile ride to Amherst College and will put you in the center of Amherst. The Five College area offers a culturally rich diverse experience and is a great starting point to explore even more according to the season, MASS MOCA near Williamstown is a favorite destination. Zip Lining in Charlemont or Kayaking on the Deerfield River for a thrill seeking adventure is a short 35 min ride away. The annual Paradise Arts Festival is an easy bike ride or venture out to the Berkshires and take in Jacobs Pillow Dance Co. or Tanglewood where James Taylor visits every July. If skiing's your thing an easy ride to Mt. Snow (75 minutes) is spectacular, and year round is the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield (35 minutes). Stay with us and start the day with a fresh cup of our local brew, (Rao's) seasonal fruit, cereal or tell me the right way to start your day! We aim to please all day long.

  • We had a nice stay at Kelly's. We stayed in the Master Suite, with our own private bath, king-size bed, and second room with a fridge, toaster, coffee maker and an extra twin size bed as well as a sofa. I was surprised to learn that Kelly was leaving the same day I arrived, and that he trusted us with his home. He did provide some yogurt, coffee and a loaf of bread for us and offered us the full use of his home while he was away. I would definitely stay again. The day I arrived and met Kelly, he was very pleasant and welcoming.

  • Stay was terrific! Suite is extremely comfortable, exceptionally clean, and Kelly went out of his way to ensure that we had a great stay (even got a pound of my favorite coffee variety for us).

  • My stay with Kelly exceeded my expectations in every way. His home is a lovely, private and quiet property in a wonderfully secluded location, yet close to town.. The Master Suite was indeed a beautifully appointed spacious two rooms and a luxurious\ full bath that felt like an entire house. It was immaculately clean with extra towels, blankets and pillows along with more healthy breakfast choices than I could have asked for. Even then, Kelly was gracious in helping me find some local places that I was going to visit and offered me whatever I needed to make my time in Amherst memorable. I look forward to returning there again and possibly the nicest place to stay in Amherst if you want comfort, privacy and class.

  • A nice big room (suite really, with small sitting room/mini fridge/microwave) and large private bath in a pretty house not far from Amherst/Northampton. When we stayed we were asked to be as quiet as possible to accomodate the long-term boarders staying in the house, so this may be something to consider if you're planning to travel with kids. Kelly was incredibly friendly and accomodating. While the bedroom area was tidy, the bathroom was in need of a little TLC. We found hairs in the sink, a fairly dirty toilet, and someone else's used washcloth in the shower. There is an additional $30 cleaning fee to stay there, so that was a bit of a surprise. (We ended up cleaning up a bit with the cleaning products in the bathroom, but that obviously wouldn't be everyone's preference!) Also to keep in mind, in addition to the cost of booking the room for 2 nights there was a $200 hold against my card as a security deposit. This was possibly something that I missed in the fine print for this host, but may need to be planned ahead for if you're traveling! (The hold came off a few days after our stay). Overall a nice place and kind host!

    Response from Kelly:

Emily THANKED me giving her a last minute room, and rearranged things to help them. I had overlapping guests (not boarders) and wanted to insure that they had no party plan in my home. Hence, the emphasis on "quiet". They concurred that a quiet space would help them study. I asked them to inspect the room right away, and tell of any issue. No response given. I gave them $25 for breakfast which was a first. Fees are all disclosed by Air BnB and on their reservation.

  • Thanks, Kelly, for a comfortable stay, especially on short notice. I wish I hadn't been too busy to be there much, but I enjoyed the comforts of your lovely home and appreciated your graciousness in letting me use space in your fridge. The a/c was appreciated, too! Thanks for making my visit so comfortable.

  • We were delighted with our accomodations, a two bedroom suite on the second floor of a beautifully decorated home in a secluded area. The suite was both spacious and completely private wia huge bathroom that included a soaking tub and candles!
The host was gracious and accomodating, going to great lengths to mke our stay pleasant. W were treated like friends rather than boarders. We stayed for a week and would have gladly stayed for another week. We made use of the lovely front porch facing a lush natural garden. There was a beautiful deck and pool in the back which we did not use because the weather was slightly chilly. The partially screened area was however great for morning coffee or an evening of board games. The kitchen was the center of the house and we had full access to whatever we needed. We would love to return for an extended visit. Definitely 5 star accommodations.

  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Kelly’s. The room was spacious and comfortable. The house is beautiful and is surrounded by lush greenery. Kelly was a wonderful host. He made excellent recommendations regarding local shops, eateries, and landmarks. Highly recommended.

  • Kelley was an awesome host and his house is super beautiful. I booked a stay there for my daughter's graduation because I was looking for a reasonable price. I liked the photo's of Kelley's place but seeing it in person was amazing. It's a very spacious, meticulously crafted, well appointed home located on gorgeously landscaped grounds. I wish I had known about it during all the years my daughter was there for school. Even though she's not in the area I'll be returning with my wife to Kelly's house to do a week or a long weekend getaway from New York City. We really enjoyed walking around, shopping and dining in nearby Amherst and North Hampton. Kelley is a generous and gracious host, very accommodating, offering suggestions on the best local destinations tailored to our interests. I highly recommend booking a stay with Kelley!

  • Kelly provided excellent information before our first airbnb experience, answering every question promptly and completely. The room was huge and comfortable, the bathroom was also large and luxurious, and there were shelves and a place to hang clothes in the walk-in closet. There is an attached room with a single bed, so this would be a great place for two or three folks. We had use of the house, and enjoyed relaxing downstairs in the evenings. Kelly kindly checked beforehand to see what foods we wanted, and I was pleased to see that he had indeed picked up nonfat, unsweetened yogurt, along with an assortment of fresh fruit for the self-serve breakfast. Very nice stay, and dead quiet at night! Easy access to downtown Amherst as well.

Originally from Western Mass and lived in upstate NY and Oconomowoc, WI in another lifetime. Amherst has been my home for the last twelve years after a long circuitous route getting here. . My son has graduated from college and gainfully employed in nearby Boston while my daughter is living in Boulder, CO and as a result I'm living large, i.e. in a large house with more room than most Bed and Breakfasts. I like welcoming guests in their variety of interest and needs, whether it be for maximum privacy or a few suggestions I've picked up along the way. I can guide you anywhere from the sublime, as in Emily Dickinson's home just up the street or point you toward Tanglewood, a James Taylor concert and of course there's always the cross country ski trails in my back yard. If you want something a little faster which is my preference, there are a dozen downhill ski areas between 1 and 2 hours away. If you're here to visit your son or daughter in college, make sure you participate in some recreation while you're here so that you can tell a few stories of your own! After 25 years in the business world, I've changed careers to creative writing a departure toward a discipline I couldn't have imagined only a few years ago, but neither could I have imagined being a quasi Inn Keeper. I used to think I knew everything and even that's changed! I even jumped over to the "other side" and bought an Apple computer after trying to convince my son unsuccessfully for years that they were "limiting". Good thing he didn't listen to me. My daughter has been in more countries at 20 years old than the number of states I was in at 20 and on it goes. The biggest surprise of all is that I can actually fix something on occasion instead of grabbing the phone, so much for teaching new tricks to old dogs.
