Private mountainside home, perfect for romantic getaway or fun family reunion. 5 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, fully equipped kitchen, stone fireplace, on 200 acres of pristine farmland. Exquisite views; close to charming town and 6 top ski resorts.
The house is very spacious yet cozy. The house was designed by a local architect in the 1970's. Much of the furniture was also custom built in Rochester. The house is on some of the most beautiful land in the country. If you want to get away from the city, you could not find a better location.
There are six top ski areas within 45 minutes driving. The town of Rochester is charming with local restaurants, book stores and shopping. The house has a 2 car garage and lots of room for other cars.
Interaction with Guests
My manager will meet and greet guests and I will always be available for questions or concerns.
The area is quiet and the scenery and wildlife are exquisite. The closest neighbor is down the road about 1/4 mile away so you are guaranteed privacy. Everyone in the area is friendly and helpful.
There is no public transportation. You would need a car to get to the ski areas although you can cross country for miles right out our back door. The walk to town is 1 and 1/2 miles down a country road. The nearest airports are Burlington and Albany.
Other Things to Note
We have a ping pong table and lots of games in the house. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails and hiking trails right out our back door. There is a lovely pond on the property for ice skating.
Please no smoking. Guests are welcome to use all the dishes etc. in the kitchen. Just tidy up after, please!
Hal was very helpful and an absolute pleasure to speak to. Clear cut instructions and very detailed to make sure nothing went wrong. The manager of the place was very helpful and always kept in touch to ensure things were going smoothly. Photos did not do this place justice at all. The Country House was more than we had expected! Huge house, stunning views, high ceilings, and everything you need in a country house. Definitely would recommend this place to friends and family.
The 70's house was everything and more. The living room and fireplace was a huge hit. The kitchen was a favorite as well with the unique cookware. I recommend all future guests make sure they have 4-wheel or all-wheel drive during the winter, the roads were really dangerous and the driveway wasn't fully plowed.
The place is Fabulous!! We had a blast, it's close to Killington and we were all very comfortable, clean, and has everything you need. Hal was available for any questions. I would definitely consider it for another group trip. Thanks a lot for everything.
Hal's home is everything it is advertised to be and more. As others have commented, the record collection and speaker set is a true highlight, the decor is a fun blast from the past (like living in the most comfortable but also exciting movie set), the 200 acres around the house are pristine and made for the best snow shoe-ing of my life, and the number of beds and baths makes the place ideal for accommodating a large group. As a weekend get away, it's hard to imagine a better place tucked away in the mountains. Only slight challenge is the roads are pretty slippery getting out there in winter, but once you're there, it completely delivers — magnificent.
The house was a very nice house. There was a lot of space, and it was great for the large party of friends who I brought there. We went to this house for a ski trip and it was a great experience. The only advice I would give is that there was a lot of snow during our stay and the road leading to the house as well as the roads in the town leading to the house can be a little icy, so a car with 4-wheel drive and snow tires is definitely recommended if visiting in the winter. Still, I would highly recommend the place to anyone looking to stay in the area.
We had a great time at Hal's country house. The house was enormous and had plenty of room as well as being very well stocked in tools and appliances. Everything was in perfect order and it was nice to have Christine give us a walk through of the house to make us aware of anything important.
We will definitely be coming back!
My friends and I had the best time ever in this house. It's so beautiful, and no pictures on the website can reflect the true beauty and charm of this place.
Built in 70s and it feels like the time stands still there. Even the newspapers in the house are published in 1970s. The best discovery for us was the vinyl player and Hal's collection of LPs.
Christine was extremely nice and helpful, and we really enjoyed her company.
It would be great to go back there again in summer and experience the beautiful nature around the house.
I am friendly and accommodating. I look forward to hearing from my prospective guests. I love Vermont and have spent a lot of time at the house, hiking and skiing, and know the area well. I think Airbnb is a great way to connect people with fun places to stay for reasonable rates.
