About This Listing
This casa with it's pool is on a hill and still has a wilderness to it. You are living amongst the birds, iguanas and butterflies.
It is peaceful and private you hear the waves crash onto the shores and the various birds call out to each other.
casa quetzal is a beautiful house up on the Nanzal Hill, built facing North towards the ocean, catching every ocean breeze making this house cool and fresh. From every room there are amazing views. The windows are doors that totally open up towards the ocean. You can see it everywhere, in every room and hear the waves rolling into the sandy beaches.
Very comfortable and breezy.
Sayulita can get noisy especially around the Holidays and Spring Break and casa quetzal is a welcome refuge from all the bustle, yet only minutes away from the pueble and the beaches.
The roof is one huge space with hamacas, a BBQue and a table large enough to seat 8 people. Up here you can see eye to eye with the seagulls and every once in a while if you are lucky with the eagles.
The whole top floor is one open space.
Fully functional kitchen with granite counters and bar chairs ideal for breakfasts and snacks. Traditional style Mexican dishes, Italian stove-top espresso maker, blender, pots & pans, etc...
The dining room has a table to seat six people overlooking the pueblo and the living room with it's comfortable traditional 'equipaque' furnitures. There is a small bathroom, a toilet and a sink.
Downstairs are the three bed rooms. All open up fully towards the sea. The master bed-room with a king-sized bed has it's own bathroom, shower and little balcony overlooking the garden.
The middle room (with two twin-sized beds, ideally for children, but can be pushed together to make a king bed for a couple) and the third bed room (with king-bed) share a bathroom, each room has it's own sink and closet area, but the shower and toilet are shared.
Mosquito nets are provided for each bed. Hanging there, ready to be used.
Around the salt-water pool there are three, pool chaises with pillows.
In the garden we have many different patios some with hamacas and walk-ways where you can be private or find the different fruit-bearing trees and taste their fruit.
casa quetzal is a truly quiet, serene and private place, ideal for family gatherings, friends or just the two of you!
It is best to rent a car in Puerto Vallarta, this way you don't have to walk up and down the hill, which might be a challenge for some, especially in the heat.
To others the walk up and down is a welcome exercise.
Please look at:
Serenity and nature.
Birds, iguanas, butterflies, fire-bugs at night.
A car is recommendable, although the walk up and down the hill is possible and an excellent way to get into shape. There are taxis who will take you back up on those day you don't feel like walking. ATV's is another possibility.

What a view!! Casa Quetzal is everything you need for an amazing Mexican getaway. Our first visit to the city and to this residence will not be our last. Upon arrival the house was in tremendous condition with everything fresh and clean from top to bottom. As you step outside you are greeted with miles of clear coastline view that cannot be put into words. The two rooftop hammocks provide a great way to end a night while listening to the crashing waves below. Couldn't be happier about our choice of stay as Patrice was very responsive about any inquire we had. Will hopefully be staying here again very soon!
No words can explain how amazing the 2 weeks were that we spent at the casa. Patrice has put together an amazing home that had all essential things you needed as a guest. She also has put together a great team in Sayulita that takes care of the home and your needs. And to top it off, all questions were answered promptly prior to our stay.
On hot days the pool was perfect to lay across the edge and if you ever got too toasty, you could just roll in. We found no issues with break-ins throughout our stay and the safe was able to fit all of our valuables easily.
As for the town of Sayulita, we all fell in love the moment we saw it. So full of color and people and taco places. Literally, tacos everywhere. But if you were ever in the mood for pizza or pasta you can definitely find it. The surfing and paddle boarding was unreal also as the waves were getting pretty big near the end of our stay. The ocean also has pyrite in it which makes it look full of gold.
All in all, the time we experienced in Sayulita was amazing and we will definitely be coming back.
Our 4 night stay was absolutely flawless with the house being even more beautiful than the pictures. It was equipped with all amenities for both the bedrooms & kitchen, even a blender to make margaritas to sip by own very own pool. The Casa was in a perfect location which gave us an amazing view over the whole of Sayulita and beautiful sunsets over the beach. It was tucked away in a hill side which was a quick 10min stroll into the town but far enough away that we could live on our own time & have a quiet siesta when needed. Patrice was so quick to answer all questions & gave us so much wonderful local information & also travel tips. I recommend this house to both families & small groups....it is impossible to be disappointed.
The house is wonderful, even better than it appears in the photos. Although the town was bustling during the holiday week, the house was a quite refuge from the crowd, and a relatively short walk from town. The hill is very steep, and our Ford Focus had some trouble getting up, so I will be renting a more rugged vehicle if I return. I would definitely rent this house again. Thank you for an amazing vacation!
The photos say it all. A beautiful location with 180 degree views. The casa was very comfortable for three couples. The roof deck was spectacular for watching sunsets and the stars. Walking up and down the steep hill was good exercise. Taxis were inexpensive although the drivers sometimes groaned when we mentioned where we wanted to go because of the distance from town.
Frederico the house manager was very helpful and quick. The house was fully equipped although if going again I would bring my own full size beach towel.
Patrice the host was very responsive to our requests and stayed in touch with us as we planned our trip.
I would love to stay here again if traveling to Sayulita. I loved being somewhat outside of town. It was quiet much of the time. There is construction going on on both sides of the house which was only a problem on one day given that much of the labor is manual.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Quetzal. It's a great place for a family or groups since the rooms are on another level than the main living and dining room. The pool is a bit bigger than it appears in the pictures. The maintenance and cleaning staff were very responsive. We hired the cleaner and her chef mother to cook us a couple of meals. It was delicious and well worth the convenience of being able to have it at home.

About the Host, Patrice
Originally I am from Switzerland and have visited and lived in many different places in the world. Now I mostly share my time between Berkeley, California and Nayarit, Mexico.
I love to open my space to travelers, make them comfortable and show them what it is I find so special about the two places that I chose to live in.
I like the good things in life: an interesting conversation with friends, a good laugh and a glass of wine, or tequila to go with it. All kinds of Art, expressions of creativity, music, especially Latin & African rhythms, but also Opera.
But mostly I enjoy the quiet, natural surroundings, the gardens and the views both of my places offer. It brings me peace and happiness.
