Quiet Oasis steps from THE DRIVE *

House - Private room · East 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5N 1E3, Canada

We are just off Commercial Dr, known for its eclectic shops, live music and delicious food. Relax in a quiet private room. Share our beautiful home and garden. Help yourself to breakfast. Borrow a bike or hop the Skytrain. We're close to everything.

The Space

ACCOMODATION INCLUDES one of two bright private rooms on the lower level of the house, furnished with: double bed, duvet and pillows, linen and towels; large closet and mirror, desk and bookcase, WiF, cable TV and lockable door. Laundry facilities are close by.

(Ideally you are youngish, or oldish and young-at-heart, as the vintage stairs between the bedroom and bathroom are rather steep.)

Guest Access

ORGANIC HELP-YOURSELF BREAKFAST is included. For other meals, enjoy the many reasonably priced eateries nearby. Or, if you wish to dine in, feel free to do your own cooking at home. We have most amenities you might need.

YOU ARE ALSO WELCOME TO SHARE the common areas of the house including: kitchen, bathroom, living and dining room upstairs; and deck, barbecue, and beautiful garden outside.

Interaction with Guests

WE ARE A HOUSEHOLD OF THREE - one young artist (in the music industry) and two old nature-lovers (mostly gardening and fly-fishing) who have lived in Vancouver for many years and can give you the insider scoop on spots to visit and places to eat. If you like to snowboard or ski we can help with that too.

The Neighborhood

WE LIVE ON PEACEFUL TREE-LINED STREET just steps from lively Commercial Drive where you will find:
- International restaurants, cafes, delis and grocers
- Funky galleries, slam poetry, yoga, live music, craft beer
- Britannia Community Centre library, pool/sauna, gym, rink
- Commercial-Broadway Sky-train Station, frequent buses
- Bike paths and co-op cars nearby.

Getting around

EXPLORE the 'Drive', walk to Trout Lake and the Farmers Market, or borrow our bike and cycle the bike routes. Downtown Vancouver is 17 blocks away with its shopping, clubs and 5-star restaurants. Beaches and ocean-side parks are just beyond that. Look up, and you can see the mountains. Drive over the bridge, and you’re there.

Check In
  • Peter and Robin were so warm, kind. The house mood was just like our home. They gave so much information. Even when my wife was sick 'cause of time difference, Peter and Robin worried and gave medicine and took hot bath for my wife just like our mom. They were our first Canadian family. We will never forget the kindness. I, absolutely, recommend the people who have come to Vancouver first with familiar mood.

  • Fantastic location!
Peter and robin were easy to talk to, they happily gave advice on where to go and how to get there!
    Wonderful people.

  • We stayed 8 nights here and it was great. Robin & Peter are very friendly and the place was very clean. Thank you very much!

  • Serene, calm refuge in East Vancouver with sunshine and wandering birds. This says it all. Peter and Robin are awesome, and their background is equally interesting.

  • What a wonderful place and what a wonderful reception we had! We were welcomed warmly, all our needs were met (comfortable and attractive bedroom, access to the kitchen and its amenities, laundry facilities should we need them, access to the living room to watch TV, and much more), and the conversations with our hosts and the other guest were warm, informative and interesting.

  • Reading everyone elses very satisfied and grateful reviews, I can just add: I couldn´t agree more. Warmth, welcoming, helpfulness, good conversations and a particular knack for making you feel at home are very characteristic of Robin and Peters bnb. Being with Robin and Peter and their sons was very much a large part of what made my trip to Canada the extremely fine experience it was. Besides that, the room was good, so was breakfast, the house is well situated, the garden lovely and I could use the phone freely for local calls. I very much recommend Robin and Peters bnb anfd hope there will be room for me next time, too!

  • What a fantastic place to stay. We were at Peter and Robins place for a week. They were friendly, welcoming, and made our relocation back home very easy. The kitchen was always stocked with everything that one would need. Location of residance gave us easy access to transport, and commercial drive was a stones throw away(great food and night life).
Over all a thoroughly enjoyable stay, would reccomend highly, and if ever back in Vancouver, would definetly see if place is available

  • A fantastic place to stay. Robin and Peter were absolutely charming and welcoming. The room was very comfortable and the amenities excellent. The locale was great for cafes, restaurants and public transport. We would thoroughly recommend the 'Oasis on the Drive'.

  • Robin, Peter and their sons were perfect hosts. Myself and my partner are very glad we chose their house to stay in for our trip to Vancouver and if we return we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else but with them. The room was a good size, comfortable and clean- as was the rest of the house. Breakfast was included and really good organic quality. I only have nice things to say about my experience with them!

  • I stayed at 3 different Airbnb places on my trip and Robin and Peters was my favorite. The room itself feels very private, but you are always made to feel welcome in the communal areas of the house. The whole family are warm, friendly and always happy to offer advice regarding places to visit/eat and drink. Commercial Drive itself is a beautiful area, has a real community feel about it and is within easy reach of downtown. I highly recommend staying here, you wont be disappointed!

Peter was born in Montreal and I hail from Halifax, but we've lived in Vancouver for the past 25 years and raised our 3 sons here. We love travellers - perhaps because we've both lived overseas growing up. Peter is a software engineer and I am a counsellor. I think you will find us relaxed and easygoing, and our beautiful 100 year old home very comfortable.
