Quiet Oasis steps from THE DRIVE *

House - Private room · East 2nd Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5N 1E3, Canada

We are just off Commercial Dr, known for its eclectic shops, live music and delicious food. Relax in a quiet private room. Share our beautiful home and garden. Help yourself to breakfast. Borrow a bike or hop the Skytrain. We're close to everything.

The Space

ACCOMODATION INCLUDES one of two bright private rooms on the lower level of the house, furnished with: double bed, duvet and pillows, linen and towels; large closet and mirror, desk and bookcase, WiF, cable TV and lockable door. Laundry facilities are close by.

(Ideally you are youngish, or oldish and young-at-heart, as the vintage stairs between the bedroom and bathroom are rather steep.)

Guest Access

ORGANIC HELP-YOURSELF BREAKFAST is included. For other meals, enjoy the many reasonably priced eateries nearby. Or, if you wish to dine in, feel free to do your own cooking at home. We have most amenities you might need.

YOU ARE ALSO WELCOME TO SHARE the common areas of the house including: kitchen, bathroom, living and dining room upstairs; and deck, barbecue, and beautiful garden outside.

Interaction with Guests

WE ARE A HOUSEHOLD OF THREE - one young artist (in the music industry) and two old nature-lovers (mostly gardening and fly-fishing) who have lived in Vancouver for many years and can give you the insider scoop on spots to visit and places to eat. If you like to snowboard or ski we can help with that too.

The Neighborhood

WE LIVE ON PEACEFUL TREE-LINED STREET just steps from lively Commercial Drive where you will find:
- International restaurants, cafes, delis and grocers
- Funky galleries, slam poetry, yoga, live music, craft beer
- Britannia Community Centre library, pool/sauna, gym, rink
- Commercial-Broadway Sky-train Station, frequent buses
- Bike paths and co-op cars nearby.

Getting around

EXPLORE the 'Drive', walk to Trout Lake and the Farmers Market, or borrow our bike and cycle the bike routes. Downtown Vancouver is 17 blocks away with its shopping, clubs and 5-star restaurants. Beaches and ocean-side parks are just beyond that. Look up, and you can see the mountains. Drive over the bridge, and you’re there.

Check In
  • Peter and Robin were so warm, kind. The house mood was just like our home. They gave so much information. Even when my wife was sick 'cause of time difference, Peter and Robin worried and gave medicine and took hot bath for my wife just like our mom. They were our first Canadian family. We will never forget the kindness. I, absolutely, recommend the people who have come to Vancouver first with familiar mood.

  • I had a great time staying with Peter and Robin, they were very warm and welcoming and I wouldn't stay anywhere else on my next trip to Vancouver! They made me feel very comfortable throughout my stay and the room itself was very spacious and had everything you could need. The house is really close to Commercial drive which is a great spot for shopping, seeing live music and eating out! It's also really close to the Skytrain which makes it easy to get around Vancouver.

Thankyou again for hosting me Peter & Robin! Perfect air bnb experience! xo

  • My girlfriend and I spent one week at Robin&Peter's.
They have everything prepared to host you, lot of details to make you feel confortable, with large bedroom (we had room enough even for keeping all the stuff we brought to spend one year in Canada XD) where you keep your privacy.
We share a great time with these two nice people and it was a pleasure to meet and talk with them. Definitly recommendable.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Robin and Peter. They are a very interesting couple, and we connected with them in many ways. This is probably because we have similar politics and are close in age. They were welcoming and freely shared their house.

The accommodations had something of the feel of a coop. While we were there, there was another guest, and the owners son was also staying in another room. All the guests, and the son, shared the bathroom, kitchen and living room. This worked out fine, but this is not the place to stay if you like complete privacy and a bathroom for your exclusive use. But it's a great place to stay if like conversation and getting the feel of how a family lives in another city.

In terms of the accommodations, the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped with both food and equipment. It was nice to have breakfast included as part of the deal. The house also had a lovely garden which we didn't use, but could have. The only negative for me were the stairs to and from the bathroom. They were very steep, and it was important to be careful.

The house is located in a funky neighborhood with all sorts of people living peacefully side by side. It has many inexpensive and interesting ethnic restaurants. And, because it's quite close to the SkyTrain, it's very easy to zip around the city.

Robin and Peter are very warmly and helpful people. I felt so comfortable at here home and here beautiful garden. The neigbourhood "little italy" is great with many good restaurants, bars, vintage stores and close by Sky Train and bus .

  • We had a great time in Vancouver, Peter and Robin's house was really nice and cosy. We loved the conversations during cooking in the kitchen and had lots of fun. It was so nice to pick the wonderful fresh plums from their tree as they just turned ripe or just sitting under the tree on the terrace and having dinner.
Thanks for all and congratulations to your lovely BnB.

Peter was born in Montreal and I hail from Halifax, but we've lived in Vancouver for the past 25 years and raised our 3 sons here. We love travellers - perhaps because we've both lived overseas growing up. Peter is a software engineer and I am a counsellor. I think you will find us relaxed and easygoing, and our beautiful 100 year old home very comfortable.
