Eric and Shawna were awesome hosts. Our family had a blast in Austin. The house is centrally located in one of the best neighborhoods in Austin and it’s very convenient to go anywhere in the city. The area is very family friendly. We walked to the neighborhood park and pool with our kids every day. I also enjoyed going for long runs through the quiet, tree-lined streets of Tarrytown. We enjoyed getting to know the Hills and had a fantastic experience in Austin that we’ll never forget!

Shawna is the best. We visited during a really, really hot summer, and I have to say I did not anticipate a strong AC being part of my requisite list. Good thing Shawna's central air is really strong and cold. The place is very well decorated. Everything from access wares and decor is all well thought out. My wife really loved the aesthetic style and homeliness of it all. My 1 year old had so much fun in the house and loved hopping into the back yard for a little run around. Shawna and Eric were kind enough to set up a pack-n-play and thats what our daughter slept in which gave my wife and me a better sleep. Their communication was stellar and the instruction/information they provide preempts any issues and answers most questions you may have. The neighborhood is great. I never drove more than 15 min during our sightseeing and most destinations were 8 min away. A great stay. Thanks a mil, Shawna!

Shawna and Eric are wonderful hosts. They made our extended stay very enjoyable. Their twin boys are delightful. We enjoyed many outings with the family and privacy when we wanted it. We will always be friends with this great family. The cottage has many decorator touches from the talented Shawna and it is very convenient to the freeways and downtown Austin. We were very comfortable there. Thank you again for sharing you lives with us.

Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood, decorated with unique artwork and attention to detail. Shawna and Eric do the extras to make visitors feel welcome, like putting chilled glasses in the fridge and leaving special snacks. We appreciated their quick responses to any question and the use of bikes (complete with helmets, locks, and seat adjustment tool) to ride through the beautiful neighborhood to Mount Bonnell's overlook. We found we were never more than 10 minutes from the places we wanted to visit. Great stay!

Just returned back from over a week long stay with my wife and three children (one is a toddler) and it couldn't have been better. The location was great for getting in and out of the downtown area, accessing the water and other recreational areas, or hopping onto a highway to go north/south/east areas of Austin. I was in town for business, so getting into the downtown area quickly was important, and with a car I was able to get pretty much everywhere I needed during rush hour very quickly. The home was a little nicer, I think, than advertised. Just enough space for the five us (given the toddler), but probably a little bit tight if our youngest was a little older-- but still very doable. The kids had space outside to run around and play (and socialize), or play in the living room inside. As hosts, Eric and Shawna were a huge help, very friendly and inviting, and very available. Would very much recommend!

What a cozy and quaint bungalow with great hosts! The little things like all natural soaps, wine +muffins , and neighbors kids playing in the huge backyard made this the perfect place to stay for a family w kids and a dog!

New places and a love for travel have always been a way of life for me. Because of my Dad's career we moved around quite a bit. By the time I was 18 our family had moved 8 times between 4 states and 7 cities.

My Dad is from the great state of Maine, Skowhegan to be exact. The youngest of 13 siblings, a life long Eagle Scout, a Captain in the Marine Corps. The first person in his family to graduate from college he earned a full scholarship from the University of Maine. He served in Vietnam and then worked 37 years as an executive for Shell Oil Company. He is and has been an endless example of love, patience and kindness. My best friends like to refer to him as "a living saint" and it's true.

My mother was born and raised in post-war Japan. Just 17 when she left her family to move to California, she worked many odd day jobs all at once, a short-order cook, a nanny, a florist sorting carnations. All the while she somehow took classes at night to improve her English. Always a natural at DIY, if she saw something beautiful in a shop that she wanted but couldn't afford she would go home and figure out how to make it herself. She had a knack for making all kinds of things: clothes, crafts, a killer lasagna - as well as life-long friends. A stickler for quality, she preached the merits of mindfulness in everything, especially the simple things, like making your bed everyday, even that was an opportunity for artistic expression. Annoying as it was back then, I eventually learned to love and appreciate (and finally apply) all that my mother taught me. My mom was seriously skilled at creating beauty from scratch, especially in the home.

Being "the apple that didn't fall far" I love meeting new people and creating beauty and comfort where I can. I am pretty positive this love for beauty and others comes directly from my parents.

Now firmly rooted in Austin TX since 2008, I live happily with my husband and our twin boys and we have no plans of moving anytime soon. We still love to travel but stay pretty busy at home too.

Chasing after two 6yr olds and keeping up with all the new happenings around Austin is a full time job in itself.
