Our beautifully refurbished Victorian apartment is conveniently located near the centre of St Ives, and has stunning views overlooking the harbour and Atlantic Ocean. Just five minutes walk to the harbour front, Sam's Place has easy access to all local shops, bars & galleries as well as the beaches.

Description

The Space

Sam's Place is a first floor self-catering apartment of a Victorian Terraced property. The flat has recently been fully refurbished to a very high standard, and comprises of the following rooms:
Large lounge with raised sleeping platform suitable for 2 people to sleep, and has gorgeous views overlooking St Ives and the harbour - just like the photo shows!
A double bedroom with standard double bed.
A twin bedroom with a bespoke handmade bed that joins together properly to make one king size bed with no uncomfortable central rung!
A dining-kitchen with gas hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge, toaster & washer-dryer.
A shower room with shower enclosure, basin & WC, and heated towel rail.
A rear balcony for sole use of Sam's Place, and the use of a 2-tiered shared garden (shared with our tenant in the top flat).
The flat has a real flame effect gas fire and electric radiators throughout.
The flat has bedrooms for up to 4 people with a possible extra 2 in the lounge on the sleeping platform or futon.

NB: we provide all bed linen and kitchen tea towels at our apartment, but please be aware that we don't provide bath or beach towels. We ask guests to bring all of their own personal towels.

Guest Access

Guests have access to all the amenities in the flat plus the shared garden.

Interaction with Guests

We communicate with guests via phone & email. During the mid and low season we launder & clean the flats ourselves, and many times we can be around to meet and greet our guests upon their arrival. During the high summer season (mid June - end August) we employ a management company to clean & maintain the flats, so at this time we have a key safe for our guests to let themselves in. However we are only a phone call away should an emergency arise.

The Neighborhood

St Ives is a picturesque harbour town located on the North coast of West Cornwall. Famous for its artistic community St Ives has the Tate and Barbara Hepworh Gallery, as well as numerous private galleries and astists' studios.
As well as easy access to the galleries, shops, restaurants and bars, St Ives also benefits from being surrounded by 4 stunning beaches. This means that, from Sam's Place, you are never more that 5 - 10 minutes from one of these beaches or the town centre.

Getting Around

As said, St Ives is a very pretty and quaint fishing town with interesting small cobbled street enticing you to explore every nook & cranny. The downside of this is that it is quite hilly and not the easiest place to get around if you are very elderly or infirm. There are, however, local buses that can take you from the town centre up to the higher areas of St Ives, where most of the residential areas, included Sam's Place, are located.
The nearest airpot to St Ives is Newquay (about 40 minutes drive away) - however it has a very restricted service and not very good public transport access to St Ives, unless you hire a car.
The best option for local public transport, for getting around Cornwall, is to use the local bus service.
The train line is good for long distance travel from all of the major UK cities. The train station is conveniently located right in the town centre, and arrival by train brings you right to Porthminster beach - what more could you ask for! The last 20 minutes of the train journey (from St Erth to St Ives) is listed in the top 10 best UK train journeys.

Other Things to Note

Important information regarding bookings:
Please note that during the high season we book our the flats for full week bookings only. We have indicated which weeks these are on the calendar.
At all other times we can offer short breaks, however ,as this is a self-catering apartment it is only viable to let out the flats for a minimum stay of 2 nights to cover our running costs.
Guests are welcome to stay for just one night, but we would charge the same rate as a 2-night stay.

NB: we provide all bed linen and kitchen tea towels at our apartment, but please be aware that we don't provide bath or beach towels. We ask guests to bring all of their own personal towels.
We can hire towels at a cost of £3.50 per bale (1 x bath & 1 x hand). Please let us know if you wish to hire towels. We don't hire beach towels.

House Rules
Check-in is after 4PM

Please note that Sam's Place is located in the more quiet residentail area of St Ives, which means that whilst it is just 5 minutes from the main hub-bub of the town centre, you also benefit from being in a more peaceful tranquil part of the town. For this reason we ask that no loud music is played in the flat after 10pm, and that noise is kept to a minimum to respect other people who live nearby. If you are a group of party-goers wishing to party into the wee small hours, then this accommodation is probably not the best for you.
We have a strict no pets and no smoking policy in the flat.
Please note: we are high up on a hill and this affords us that gorgeous view, but this also means there is quite a walk up lots of steps to reach us! There is a local bus service from the town centre to the leisure centre, which passes along Park Avenue and out flat.
However, we don't recommend our flat if you are a wheelchair user.

My partner and I live in Hayle, and moved down to Cornwall, from Bradford, in 2009.
We run our holiday letting business together and I also have my own interior design company, also based in Hayle.
We refurbished our flats in St Ives, using my interior design skills and contacts within the industry, and think that our flats are a wonderful showcase for what we do and like doing.
We also have on display in the flats, some wonderful works of art and ceramics produced by local St Ives artists.
