Fort Morgan, Alabama is a secret tropical paradise and we often wonder if we should share our secret or not. Experience what it's like to have expansive white sands beach and beautiful, warm, turquoise water all to yourself (except for the dolphins). Even the drive down the winding peninsula road is something from a movie highlighting the charms of the south. This quiet, single family home is formally 3BR/2BA but we have designed the 3rd bedroom to be a playroom/den with a pull out queen size sleeper sofa, flat screen tv, dvd and Playstation2. Don't forget to bring your rainy day games, just in case!
Whatever your life style is, from nature enthusiast to history buff, from shopper to golfer or sailor, you will have endless choices of activities or leisure when you stay at the McKobeach Shak!
Plan your stay now before the secret gets out and the beach gets crowded! Oh, and maybe, DON'T spread the word?
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Mary's house! It was nicer than the pictures, very clean and comfortable, and exceptionally quiet. The pool and hot tub is very nice too. My wife and kids are already planning our next trip there.
The only area that surprised us a little bit was how far away the house is from the city (Gulf Shores). It's about a 20 minute drive to anything that resembles a major town. That wasn't a problem for us because we were looking for a quiet place to stay but eating out was something we had to plan for and schedule (because of the distance).
If you stay here, you should probably visit the local beignet shop Mary recommends in her binder of local things to do, and track down a local fish market for some delicious eats you can cook (or grill) at home.
We loved the beach house!!!! it was adorable and cozy. The drive to the beach was a bit long..but if it were it not raining..the drive would not have been a big deal.We want to come back next year.
Mary's house is very lovely and spacious. We had so much fun cooking in the kitchen and playing in the pool and hot tub. There are also tennis courts. I would definitely warn people about the "no see 'ums" because they ate us alive, and I had never encountered these bugs before. If you go in spring, I recommend taking eco bug spray with natural herbs to keep them away and using it liberally. I heard they are only bad certain times of the year.
Otherwise the house is close to the beach, the beach is lovely, and the area is very non-touristy and pristine. We loved Mary's beautiful house and had a ball. You also can't beat the value for staying in such a desirable resort area. If you are coming from the West, taking the ferry is really fun, and you are then just a few miles from the house.
- Very cute cottage in a cute neighborhood
- Inside is clean and comfortable and very livable
- Very nice, usable set-up with the 3rd bedroom as a 'family room'
- Great having 2 full baths
- Lots of light
- Pet friendly--we loved this
- Mary is very helpful :)
- None really--we would stay here again...if I had to pick my least favorite thing--I wish it was a bit closer to the beach but that didn't keep us from enjoying the place and we'd have no hesitations staying here again.
The house was nice and cozy. It is nicely located close to the beach. Mary was really helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the house.
Wonderful stay at this beautiful home! Everything was very clean and had all the amenities we needed, making for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Only 1 mile from the beach and a short drive to Gulf Shores dining made it a perfect family vacation. Mary was helpful with directions, had brochures on area attractions and even some board games and toys for the kids.
