About this listing
This newly restored and renovated 1920's hideaway will be our second AirBnB, having refurbished and successfully hosted our first for over a year with 53 rave reviews (see this listing at (website hidden)). Because of this, we know what it takes to create a space that feels like home, and our newest endeavor is truly a labor of love. Together we painted every wall, sanded, stained and revitalized the original floors, and restored numerous pieces of vintage furniture to it's former glory. We adorned the walls and nooks with that which inspires us - the sixties, world art, music, antiques, classic pop culture, family heirlooms, forgotten one-of-a-kind treasures, things we've found and things we've made from scratch. We maintained and honored the history of this 20’s film era bungalow where old film actors would actually stay while shooting for the budding film industry, and simultaneously gave it a modern, boho edge.
Each of the two bedrooms exudes it's own character and style, and on the practical end offers lots of storage space for your belongings. The front bedroom has it’s own walk-in closet and office nook area, and between the living room and bathroom there is another walk-in closet/changing room with a private vanity area for primping. Along with the spacious, handmade kitchen nook that seats six, the unit offers a private backyard patio area adorned with a colorful cacti garden where you can enjoy time outside. And whether it’s business or recreational time you seek, we have a TV with streaming Netflix and free wi-fi to satisfy all your needs. And for those with an adventurous and playful spirit, you will find a tree house next to your front door. Public transportation is just down the street at Sunset Blvd., which is the main street of Los Angeles. Each bedroom has a full-size bed. In addition, there is a guest mattress or a comfy couch for a fifth guest. There is one parking spot available for guests in the back lot.
Secluded at the back of the property behind three other private bungalows, this is a tranquil, cozy escape amidst the bustling city just blocks away. In our humble opinion as Angelenos residing here for over five years, it is a perfect combination of city life mixed with a little country. Though the property itself is filled with vegetation, trees and flowers, a couple blocks away is Sunset Blvd, boasting some of our favorite restaurants in LA. There’s the amazing Sage Vegan, The Park (with it’s deliciously famous $5 burger night), the classy and all organic Red Hill and of course Echo Park’s hip, historic diner, The Brite Spot. For more low key choices, we often frequent Los Burritos, Two Boots Pizza and Tacos Arizas (best taco truck in LA). For non-culinary activities, the newly revamped Echo Park Lake is blocks away and a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and at night you can walk to The Echo to hear the best of LA’s indie bands or dance your socks off at Funky Soul Night.
We also have connections to the top Los Angeles nightclubs (Create Nightclub, Greystone Manor, Emerson, etc.) and would be happy to put you on the guest list for fun night out. And if you're yearning for an additional getaway from the bustle of LA life, we would be happy to organize a trip to California's prime winery region, Santa Ynez, as seen in the the ever classic film, Sideways. We will guide you to the perfect places to stay, as well as a private visit to The Sandoval Winery and Ranch, one of the producers of grapes for the local wineries in the region.
We love living here and would love to make your time in Los Angeles memorable and comfortable. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Interaction with Guests
We respect the needs and privacy of our guests and are also very accessible and friendly. Some guests we meet once upon their arrival and others have become good friends. We are always here to answer questions, give recommendations and insure that your stay, no matter how interactive or private you desire, is to your liking.
Please be clean, conscious and courteous and treat this home as if it was yours, with respect. As the bungalow is from the 1920s, we ask that you be mindful about the electricity. Please do not use the hair dryer, microwave, or area heaters at the same time and turn the lights off when not being used, especially the outside light during the the day. Please be mindful about water use as well as we are in a serious drought in Southern California and are trying to conserve.
We clean ourselves after your stay, so thoughtfulness is much appreciated. No need to take the sheets off the bed, though if one of the bedrooms is not used during your stay, we ask that you keep the bed made the way we left it so we don't have to remake it again. We also ask that all dishes and coffee maker are cleaned after your check out. Overall, we are very laid back and appreciate your cooperation with the above requests.
The place was awesome! Very nicely decorated and clean. Overall great experience . Definitely will come back if I'm staying in the area.
Yes, the hosts made us feel very welcome--they are so nice and very communicative. The bungalow was great--especially the excellent air conditioners in the living room and the two bedrooms. It was very clean and I really loved the bathroom and the front bedroom. There were tons of books and magazines to read, the parking was large enough for our SUV rental car, and there was leftover food in the fridge. Nice! The bungalow and its neighborhood is cool, very safe and quiet, even though it was a very hot, Echo Park Rising weekend. Walk to Alexander's Brite Spot--the best place for fine diner dining. Two thumbs up! Thanks, Dan and Arielle!
Dan and Arielle were great hosts! We got in quite late at night and Arielle had her friend greet us and help us find the parking lot and bungalow. It was a cute little vintage home that accommodated us well. This was my first airbnb experience and I am glad we chose this bungalow! It was literally in the heart of LA. It was definitely central to everywhere we visited on our trip. I wouldn't say anything negative about this place except that if you are looking for something bougie, then this is not the place for you. It is vintage and beautiful in its own way. :)
A comfortable, quaint stop on our drive down the coast of California! We were a party of five who were looking forward to a cozy, clean home for two nights, and Dan & Arielle's place certainly fit the bill. Although they were not available to greet us upon arrival, they left clear instructions for finding and entering the home. The space was artsy and interesting; what seemed like a reflection of the owners' personalities and passions. Parking was a bit tricky to find but we managed to figure it out according to their instructions the next day. The neighbourhood was lovely to explore, an unexpected bonus. Thank you for leaving local recommendations!
We really enjoyed staying at Dan and Arielle's - everything was just as described and Arielle was very nice and helpful. I especially enjoyed the attention to detail in the house - the interior was so cute, cozy and, of course, bohemian! Perfect for two couples, would definitely stay there again.
Really enjoyed our time here. The bungalow was very cute and comfortable. Really easy to get to and quite. I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to stay here if you're in search of a place in LA.
OMG! We stayed here during 4 days, and this house made our LA experience soo much better! The house and every tiny detail were perfect, and so adorable, as the hosts are! :)

About the Host, Dan & Arielle
We live by the motto “love and create,” and be it making music, building, painting, refurbishing furniture, or cooking, we make sure we are true to that saying every day.
Dan is a composer for film and television and Arielle is a singer and songwriter. We are adventure junkies, travelers, bohemians, foodies, winos, animal lovers, film buffs, total romantics and overall, lovers of life lost in the sixties.
We live next door to the rental, and one of us is almost always available to answer questions and give a rave recommendation of where to eat. We love living in Echo Park and look forward to making your experience here as fabulous as possible.
