About this listing
This 1920's bungalow is the perfect way to live like a local in one of Los Angeles's hippest neighborhoods. We pride ourselves on creating a space that feels like home, having painted every wall, sanded, stained and revitalized the original floors, and restored numerous pieces of vintage furniture to it's former glory. We adorned the walls and nooks with that which inspires us - the sixties, world art, music, antiques, classic pop culture, family heirlooms, forgotten one-of-a-kind treasures, things we've found and things we've made from scratch. We maintained and honored the history of this 20’s film era bungalow where old film actors would actually stay while shooting for the budding film industry, and simultaneously gave it a modern, boho edge.
Each of the two bedrooms exudes it's own character and style, and on the practical end offers lots of storage space for your belongings. The front bedroom has it’s own walk-in closet and office nook area, and between the living room and bathroom there is another walk-in closet/changing room with a private vanity area for primping. Along with the spacious, handmade kitchen nook that seats six, the unit offers a private backyard patio area adorned with a colorful cacti garden where you can enjoy time outside. And whether it’s business or recreational time you seek, we have a TV with streaming Netflix and Hulu and free wi-fi to satisfy all your needs. Public transportation is just down the street at Sunset Blvd., which is the main street of Los Angeles. Each bedroom has a full-size bed. In addition, we have an aero bed, a twin sized guest mattress or a comfy couch for a fifth guest. There is one parking spot available for guests in the back lot.
Secluded at the back of the property behind three other private bungalows, this is a tranquil, cozy escape amidst the bustling city just blocks away. In our humble opinion as Angelenos residing here for over 7 years, it is a perfect combination of city life mixed with a little country. Though the property itself is filled with vegetation, trees and flowers, a couple blocks away is Sunset Blvd, boasting some of our favorite restaurants in LA. There’s the amazing Sage Vegan, The Park (with it’s deliciously famous $5 burger night), the classy and all organic Ostrich Farm and of course Echo Park’s hip, historic diner, The Brite Spot. For more low key choices, we often frequent Guisdaos, Two Boots Pizza and Tacos Arizas (best taco truck in LA). For non-culinary activities, the newly revamped Echo Park Lake is blocks away and a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and at night you can walk to The Echo to hear the best of LA’s indie bands or dance your socks off at Funky Soul Night.
We love living here and would love to make your time in Los Angeles memorable and comfortable. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Interaction with Guests
We respect the needs and privacy of our guests and are also very accessible and friendly. Some guests we meet once upon their arrival and others have become good friends. We are always here to answer questions, give recommendations and insure that your stay, no matter how interactive or private you desire, is to your liking.
Echo Park is a thriving, diverse, hip and historic neighborhood in Los Angeles. It is a very walkable neighborhood (rare in LA) and boasts a plethora of one-of-a kind restaurants, vintage stores, bars and of course, the Echo Park Lake. It is also the location to many historic Victorian and craftsmen homes including the house from Michael Jackson's Thriller music video. Though many people come here specifically for the neighborhood itself, others choose our rental because of its close proximity to many major freeways. Because of this, we are also central to many tourist attractions although Echo Park itself is not touristy. By car and without traffic, we are about 10 minutes from Downtown and Hollywood; 25 minutes from Universal; 45 minutes - 1 hour from Disneyland; and 30 minutes from Santa Monica.
Please be clean, conscious and courteous and treat this home as if it was yours, with respect. As the bungalow is from the 1920s, we ask that you be mindful about the electricity. Please do not use the hair dryer, microwave, or area heaters at the same time and turn the lights off when not being used, especially the outside light during the the day. Please be mindful about water use as well as we are in a serious drought in Southern California and are trying to conserve. You are welcome to use the air conditioners while you are home and asleep, but please turn them off while you are out to save electricity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM.
We clean ourselves after your stay, so thoughtfulness is much appreciated. No need to take the sheets off the bed, though if one of the bedrooms is not used during your stay, we ask that you keep the bed made the way we left it so we don't have to remake it again. We also ask that all dishes and coffee maker are cleaned after your check out. If you are cooking foods with rich odors such as fish, please air out the kitchen with ample time before you departure as we often book back-to-back and want the bungalow to smell good for our next guests. Overall, we are very laid back and appreciate your cooperation with the above requests.
