Want the sights and sounds of NYC by day, and the coziness of your own home by night? This cozy one-bedroom apartment is only 25 min by subway to Times Square & Grand Central, 5 min by taxi to Laguardia, and is in the best foodie neighborhood in NYC.
Located outside Manhattan, this apartment is way bigger than anything you could get for this price within Manhattan. It comfortably sleeps four (2 on full-sized bed, 2 on queen-sized pull-out couch).
You will truly feel at home in this apartment, which comes with all the comforts of your own home.
Bedroom: has full-sized bed with either down or cotton comforter/duvet, full length wall mirror for dressing, and closet space available.
Living room: has a large pull-out couch which comfortably sits 4 and sleeps 2 (pillows, sheets, and comforter available upon request). Also in living room is an armchair, a large coffee table, 27in TV, and a DVD player.
Kitchen: full eat-in kitchen with stove & oven, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, freezer, blender, juicer, crockpot, pots, pans, and cooking utensils.
Bathroom: is quaint and cute with full-sized bathtub, vanity mirror, filtered shower head, and storage space for toiletries.
With its deep Irish roots, you'll understand why Woodside is home to NYC's second largest St. Patty's Day Parade outside of Manhattan. You'll find a plethora of Irish Pubs, bartenders with Irish Brogue accents, and authentic live Irish music within a few blocks of the apartment.
As the city has evolved over the years, families of all backgrounds have also made this charming neighborhood their home. This has led the neighborhood to become a destination of exquisite cuisines for NY's biggest foodies. Aside from Irish Pubs, also within a few blocks walk is every type of cuisine you could ask for, including Indian, Thai, Mexican, Cuban, and other Latin American foods, American Diners, Burgers, Crepes, Chinese, Tibetan, Vietnamese, Filipino, and obviously great NY Pizza! If you just want something you recognize, there's a McDonald's, Subway, and Dunkin' Donuts nearby as well.
A very safe family neighborhood, you'll enjoy leaving the noisy city to come home to the quiet streets of Woodside.
Also within a few blocks walk is a 24 hr grocery store, 24 hr Duane Reade drug store, early morning Italian Bakery, laundromat, and a coffee shop with comfy leather arm chairs. To see all of our favorite local eateries and shops, check out the listings on the map at the bottom of this page.
I call this the transportation nexus of the universe, because we have planes, trains, subways, taxis, and buses all only 5 min away, and street parking is free.
Arrival by Plane: Only 5 min and $15 by cab to Laguardia Airport or 30 min and $20 by train to JFK Airport, your arrival and departure in NYC could not be cheaper or easier, as staying in Manhattan would cost you $50-70 by taxi to/from either airport .
Bus: The Q70 bus goes directly to LaGuardia Airport in 20 min. Catch it at the intersection of 61st St and Roosevelt Avenue (under the Woodside subway/train station)
Subway & Train: Once here, you'll be 3 blocks from the Woodside station with the 7 express subway line, the Long Island Railroad, which makes access to John F. Kennedy International (JFK) airport a convenient 30 min away, and a number of bus lines. 5 blocks in the other direction is the R and M subway lines.
Taxi Cab: If you prefer to experience NYC in a taxi cab, Green Metered Taxis are always waiting at the Woodside Station.
Driving Your Own Car: We have free parking around our apartment, if you can believe it! This is not Manhattan, so the streets around our apartment do not have meters. Just be aware that street sweeping occurs during the week, so you'll need to pay attention to the signs on each street, and make sure to move your car the day the street sweepers come by.
Other Things to Note
The benefits of living close to an airport are that you can jet off very quickly, but unfortunately the city surrounds Laguardia Airport on all sides, and the airport must rotate flight paths between all the surrounding neighborhoods. This means that from time to time, we hear planes flying overhead during the daytime. Mostly, they only fly this path for one or two days at a time, although they never fly during the night when the airport is closed. So, while it is unlikely to occur during your stay, it is possible that you may have daytime plane noise during your stay. We apologize if this happens. However, this is one reason why we are able to offer such affordable prices. Plus, you will most likely be out visiting the city during the daytime anyways.
If you respect our home and our neighbors, we promise to make your stay as enjoyable as we possibly can. Absolutely NO PETS and NO SMOKING allowed.
I highly recommend Conlan's place! It truly is a cozy place to be where you feel as though you are in a home away from home! The location is amazing and close to two subway stops. Conlan is also super accommodating to whatever is needed to provide a stress free stay! I will be staying again! Thanks again Conlan!!
We enjoyed our stay in this flat. The apartment was very nice. Especially the kitchen, which was very well equipped. Moreover, the location was well connected to Manhattan (stations Woodside and 65th street), full of shops and at the same time much less chaotic than Manhattan. The only negative aspect we found is that in some days planes landing in La Guardia pass exactly over the building, which makes a loud noise. But it was not the case every day.
In general, we would definitely choose this flat again and therefore we recommend it to people who want to visit New York City
The texting with Conlan was very nice. As we arrived a friend of him let us in the room. The apartment was clean and very well furnished. We would recommend this apartment to everyone!
This is the perfect location to stay for your trip to NYC! Conlan's apartment is so close to the subway, and we were into the city in 25 minutes. My family was comfortable in the apartment, and Conlan was great about communication, transportation tips, and restaurant recommendations, especially the Thai restaurant listed in his Guidebook (DELICIOUS). The bed and couch were adequate, but the cookware could use some updating. Overall, we were happy with our stay and the accommodations!
Everything was great!
Since the first contact Conlan was very helpful and kind. Unfortunately we couldn't meet in person, but his friend (cale DJ) was there to recieve us and give us the keys.
We didn't have any problem with the apartment. Everything was like the description and the pictures we saw in the site.
We absolutely loved our stay here. We were in NYC for two weeks. Our first week we stayed in Brooklyn and our second week we stayed in this lovely apartment in Queens.
The apartment is in a very quiet area. I loved waking up to the sound of birds instead of traffic!
The host is very easy to communicate with and their apartment reminded my girlfriend and I of our first apartment together in Denver. They also had one of my favorite recent books on the bookshelf!
The internet is fast and they've got everything you need to make your own meals (but there's a lot of great places to eat and drink at nearby). Everything works great. They provided clean towels, bedding, etc.
The proximity to multiple subway lines also allowed us to get anywhere in the city within 30 min.
This place is a great, no, AWESOME, deal! I will try to book this place for all my future NYC visits.
Born at the foot of the Rockies (not like the beer, however), I grew up and studied in Colorado (Go Buffs!), only to run off to live in a number of different countries before making my way back to the NYC. I always have a good laugh when I hear a New Yorker talk about how they would be so bored living anywhere but NY...because the other 5.999B people on earth haven't figured out how to enjoy life. So while loving NY, I'm always ready and willing to hit the road for a quick getaway.
