I stayed at Tommy’s home this past February, during the city’s first “Snow Day” and everything was such down. That wasn’t not a problem for my stay or for Tommy. Tommy is a great host!. His home is easy to access by plane, train or automobile, and is close to any convenience you may need while staying in DC. You can see all the sights of the city, Tommy provides his guest with brochures and information you may need for yours stay. Its only a short 10 minute walk to the Metro lines, the Mall, the White House, bars and restaurants around his home. Tommy also provides his guest with a METRO rail pass, for you to use as you need. All you have to do is add fare money when needed. This was my first official first time staying at an airbnb and I am hooked. You can not beat Tommy’s price, location, METRO rail pass, and his wonderful accommodations. My next visit to DC, I will be reserving my airbnb with Tommy again!
My girlfriend Carol and I enjoyed our stay with Tommy Hart immensely. He was personable, thoughtful and knowledgeable about the very tony area where he lives. He gave us great restaurant recommendations! His apartment, and our room, were exactly as advertised, clean, acommodating, and fully equipped. This was our first time using airbnb and we both felt that Tommy made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He gave us a thorough understanding of airbnb and the different services associated with it. I'm scheduled to use an airbnb residence this April in New Orleans, and if it's anything like what Tommy provided, I'll be more than pleased. Thank you Tommy and airbnb.
This room & apartment were just as shown... Very clean & neat, with a communicative host and a couple of sweet cats. It was easy to find a taxi when needed, though there also several metro stations nearby.
The room was clean and quiet; the location was perfect: on a neighborhood street but close to downtown. Tommy has lived in the area for many years and had great recommendations for restaurants, public transit, and sightseeing. We enjoyed our stay in Washington and appreciated Tommy's hospitality.
I spent one night in this listing while in town for an interview, and my stay was seamless. The room was comfortable and the place is very well-located. I'm sure Tommy would have great recs for anyone looking to explore the neighborhood, although I didn't get much of a chance to wander around during my visit.
Great location! Host is nice and polite.
I have traveled to many places and had the best experiences meeting other people in every place I go, but this was a rather different experience...
This is not a place to relax, even though you are renting a room in someone's home, it just feels like you're been watched and monitored every single moment.
Be aware... "I have parking available" doesn't mean there is an actual parking space reserved for you to use; it means... I have a parking permit so you don't get towed. Good luck finding a parking space in the neighborhood.
Only recommended if you are not driving.
First let me say this review is very odd. Please read my reviews and you can see the type of host I am! I have over 100 reviews-- all positive with lots of great guests i'd love to have back. I've even had repeat guests! And one of the main reasons I love doing this is the people Ive met from around the world, many who have become my friends. So Im not sure what you meant by I was 'nice and polite (as I always am) but not a place to relax and you being 'watched'? That is the most far off and oddest review anyone ever said and obviously wrong when you read 100+ reviews. The few hours I was here and you were here too, you and your friend were locked away in your room and came and went in a hurry multiple times with in an hour or two late in the evening which was odd unto itself.
As for the parking it clearly states in my listing that parking is by a permit that I specially procured from the city itself so my guests can park on any street in neighborhood which is a huge bonus compared to other listings without parking. And this is FREE to the guest. I don't charge for this as other guests have written its a great perk. As for finding parking, its very easy! You seemed unbalanced and maybe on substance, you kept trying to find parking in all the wrong areas that were not part of the the zone. I gave you a clear map where to park. Again, as with your earlier comments, Ive never had ANYONE have an issue with where to park as you did or acted the way you did.
All your actions and communications when you arrived were VERY odd (like you were on a substance) from beginning to end and this just added to your misunderstanding of parking and your paranoid feeling while here.
Tommy was a great host. Nice clean apartment and quiet. Had excellent night sleep in the comfortable bed. Parking was easy and convenient. I would def stay here again. Great central location.
AirBnB has named me a 'SuperHost'. Its an honor!
After graduating college in 1993 with a degree in political science I moved to DC--16 of those years in different parts of Logan Circle, with my two kitties Fat Cat and Ally Cat. I'm a Realtor for 13 years now and know the city extremely well and am a great resource for all your needs. I know all the best restaurants, the cheap but good restaurants, great coffee joints, bars, the museums, monuments and metro and seeing the best of DC.
I grew up in NJ. I spent most of my youth as a competitive equestrian show jumper and still ride for fun these days.
A socially progressive city dweller, Im an easy going nice guy (probably comes from being a libra-- diplomatic, making sure everyone's happy and well balanced). I love meeting new people, news and politics, cooking, spending time with friends and traveling all over the world.
Jon Stewart, Colbert Report, Real Time w/Bill Maher, Revenge, Homeland, American Horror Story, Top Chef, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and evening news are my go-to tv shows.
