SEPTIC/WATER MINDFULNESS - We are on septic system. Please be mindful of water usage for showers & flushing. Please don't throw anything down the toilet except toilet paper. Please use the propane fireplace mindfully & shut propane heater before getting into bed and when leaving the NEST, even for short trips.

Guest Access

NATURE, tons of beauty, and a safe space, free of chemicals, with a great organic comfy mattress, books on sustainability and health, beauty, quiet, great tiled bathroom, beautiful silk furnishings, original artwork, privacy.

Interaction with Guests

Sometimes we meet and interact with guests and other times we never see guests. Each situation is unique. We have a lot of repeat guests and we've become good friends with many of those, so we often invite them up to our place for meals, or go out together, but others we never see.

The Neighborhood

NATURE, NATURE, we border thousands of acres of forest land of Redwood Trees, Madrones, California Oak, Bay Laurel. It's so beautiful here. We have great local music and art with venues ranging from 3 - 15 minutes including Rancho Nicasio, Fairfax Local Music Vibe, galleries, and great ORGANIC FARMS and restaurants. We're about 20 minutes from Tomales Bay and 25-30 from the Pacific Ocean, with great biking and hiking, yet only 45 minutes from San Francisco and 20 from San Rafael, 60 from Napa, you get the picture. We have a local organic Indian Restaurant about a 20 minutes walk from the NEST, and Sam Taylor Park and Golden Gate Parks within 10 minutes. Salmon Spawning, Environmental Awareness and amazing care for kids and seniors. A great neighborhood with much natural beauty.

Getting around

There is the West Marin Stage Bus from San Rafael, San Anselmo, Pt. Reyes Route 68 that will take you to beaches and into town with connections to the Larkspur Ferry into San Francisco, or bus directly into San Fran from either Fairfax or San Rafael.

Other Things to Note

  • This was the exact nature getaway we were looking for during a weekend City escape. Ideally set amongst the trees in Forest Knoll, this wonderful and cozy nest was the perfect setting to a relaxing weekend in the beautiful outdoors of Northern California. Close to Fairfax, that has amazing food, bars, and cafes and guests also enjoy 10% off Artii Indian food. This a wonderful stay and we cannot wait to return!

We also were so thankful for Marcia's very warm welcome to the home.

    Response from Marcia:

Please come back! You're our #1 stellar guests. We'd love to see more of you in this valley (or over the hill). Cheers, Marcia & Andy

  • Marcia made planning the trip so effortless for us! We arrived and had everything we needed to ride out the storm in front of a cozy fire. The place is charming and the view overlooking treetops was magical. Just the perfect spot for our weekend getaway of Hog Island Oysters and wine tasting in Sebastopol. Thanks and we'd love to be back soon!

  • Quiet sweet space in a beautifully private setting. Very clean and bright with all the windows & natural light. I'm a photographer and appreciate beauty and the econest is full of the beauty. I will return to this magical spot.

  • The ecoNEST was the perfect place for two busy graduate students to spend a quiet, relaxing mini-vacation. It's a beautiful space in a beautiful setting.

  • One of the most beautiful spots for me to return and rejuvenate. The owners, Marcia & Andy provide a safe space with organic towels, sheets, curtains, rugs, beautiful colors and nice views. This eco nest is quiet, and the owners took my dog for a few hours so I could go off to do volunteer work with a local nature organization in their neighborhood. I will come back. Thank you.

    Response from Marcia:

Come back any time Ruth, and bring your little dog too! We really enjoyed hosting BoBo and it's good for our dogs to socialize with guests. Marcia

  • Lovely place. Very relaxing! Definitely coming back to Forest Knolls.
