By subway, it takes about 20-mins to get to Lower Manhattan (like SoHo, West/East village, Financial District, Chelsea, Meatpacking District); about 30-40 mins to Midtown (Times Sq, Columbus Circle, lower Central Park); and about 45-50 mins to Uptown (like the Museum Mile, and upper Central Park).
There are several great foodie spots nearby that are either walking distance or a quick drive/train/bus ride. Please refer to the Guidebook to see the list of recommendations.
Foodtown, the local grocery store is a 10 min walk right next door to the post office and a dry-cleaners/laundry shop (New York French Cleaners).
There are two nearby wine/liquor stores; Olivino Wine Shop & Bed-Vyne.
There are three deli's nearby; one right on our block, another two across the street on the corner of Throop. There's also a laundromat on our block, on the corner of Throop.
The Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Garden and Prospect Park are a short subway ride away. And, every Saturday morning one of the best farmers market (email hidden) Plaza.
We are near two subway stations:
C (local) train at Kingston-Throop Av station is a 5-7 mins walk.
A (express) at Nostrand Av station is a 10-15 mins walk.
JFK transit connection - Take the Airtrain to Howard Beach Station; transfer to the A (express) train to Utica; get out of the station and walk 15 mins, or transfer to the C (local) train to Kingston-Throop (to Manhattan); walk 5-7 mins.

While you're staying with us we appreciate that you are conscientious of your neighbors above and below.
All you need to do is respect quiet hours between 10PM to 7AM especially in the building's common areas (like the entrance and stairway); and remove your shoes when inside the apartment.
Please leave your pets at home and refrain from smoking inside the apartment.
Everything was exactly as mentionned in the ad. The apartment is very spacioius, charming, lot of light, well decorated. Tayef welcome me very warmly and professionaly, she gave me all the informations I need about the house, the neighborhood and places to go. Thank you for everything...
We had a very pleasant time staying at Josh and Tayef's! The apartment is very nice and corresponds perfectly to the description written on the website. The neighborhood is a safe and typical Brooklyn area where we shared the everyday life of New Yorkers, only 20 minutes from the centre of Manhattan (the express subway line not far and quite convenient). As for Josh and Tayef, we had the pleasure to meet two very nice and discrete people, always willing to help and make the journey comfortable. A very good place to enjoy the city and discover the real New York at the same time that I would highly recommend!
Staying in this home was a great experience. Tayef and Josh provided a wonderful living space that was perfect for our vacation time. Their excellent guide to the neighborhood made finding anything we needed simple and easy. We would definitely stay here the next time we are in the city.
We spent 10 days in Tayef & Josh apartment. It is old building but the apartment is nice renovated inside. Very spacious. Communication with Tayef was very good, we've got clear instructions how to get to their place because we came late in the night. We will certainly come back here in the future.
Had a very enjoyable time at Tayef and Josh's. They were both very accommodating and the place was very clean. They answered all my questions promptly while I stayed there. My girlfriend and I would definitely stay here again. The apartment is very cute and the bed was really comfortable (and I'm very picky about beds).
Tayef et Josh sont des hôtes sympathiques. Le logement est conforme à la description et bien situé. Quartier assez calme, métros facilement accessibles, on prend vite ses marques. J'ai passé un très bon séjour !
Hosts are pleasant, professional, and easy to work with. Apartment was beautiful and clean just as pictured. We are very happy with our experience here.
I'm a graphic-designer living in Brooklyn, with my husband Josh Farrar; musician & YA author, and our one-eyed cat Zeitoun. We love our neighborhood and thoroughly enjoy everything we can get out of the city. It's the best place for foodies, people watching, music and art lovers.
