ForRest is a newly built & designed cottage with large glass sections that gives you the feeling of being out in the middle of the forest even though you´re indoors with all the conveniences of today. Wintertime there´s a chance to experience the Northern Lights.
It´s your own space in the forest. Use the freedom to roam to get into our wilderness. Watch the wildlife, pick berries/mushrooms, yoga, go for walks or a run. Here you´ll find the peace & quiet that are rare to find to day.

The space
A wise man I knew used to talk about contentment, a feeling that perhaps few people experience daily today. His wise words landed deep within me and in my dream of building a cabin in the woods where people can feel full joy of life and experience our great forests. All to yourself. Bring the person or persons who matter most of all in your life and experience the peace and quiet and wildlife in the Swedish forest or use the peaceful place for yoga, meditation or creative creating. Let the cooking take time and may be the only goal you have for the day. Make food indoors on the wood- or gas stove or over an open fire down by the stream.
Take the opportunity to fish, pick mushrooms and blueberries right outside the house - the forest offers many pleasures and the range varies with the season.
You have the Swedish wildlife just outside the door and this is you own spot. No neghbours or trafic, just the sounds of the trees and the small stream running 100 m below the cottage. The accommodation is comfortable and modern technologies have been used to create an environment with the standard you would expect at home even though it is a long way both to the municipal water supply, and the public net of electricity. The water comes from a source deep in the ground and the electricity comes from the sun's rays.

Guest access
-A private outside fireplace
-Your own hiking trail of 3.5 km forest trails
-A beautiful small swimming place in the lake Enstabosjon, about 5 minutes’ drive from the cottage
-You own patio down by the stream (from 1/5 2020)
-2 Bicycles
-The outside Jacuzzi is available from 1/4, the price is 600 SEK. I fill it up with water and you heat it up. For further info, read instructions below.

You have the hole cabin for yourself and the forests around. The cabin is located far from other houses which means total privacy for you. The freedom to roam gives you the right to walk everywhere in the surroundings and to pick and eat what nature gives.
Jaccuzi
Outside bathtub
The outside bathtub is filled with water from the stream and costs 600 SEK.
I clean it and fill it up with water with a pump standing down by the stream. You heat it up yourself by making a fire in the stove attached to the tub. Very important – the tub must always be filled with water when a fire is burning in the stove. If the stove doesn’t get the cooling from the water the heat will destroy it.
Please pull the plug in the bottom of the bath when ready. Since the bathtub is located close to the river no chlorine or cleaning solvents can be used. Therefore due to hygienic reasons you only heat the water once and then let it out.

Other things to note
Here you can enjoy your company without worrying about them being busy with their telephones since we are far enough out in the forest to have no or bad access to internet. The road to the house is a road in the forest, made of gravel stone but easy and good enough for a normal car to drive on.

In April or March the frozen ground melts, when that happens the road gets very soft. You never know exactly when that happens but when it does, you might have to walk the last 1,5 km or drive on the road only early mornings when its frozen. If you have a lot of luggage I´ll help you to get it to the house.
In May you´ll get to be a part of the nature fully awakening after the long dark winter, this is my favorite time of the year since everything comes back to life. An absolutely wonderful time to be in the forest.
If you come in June, the whole night is bright. The trees and the ground are bright green and the nature is fully awake and full of life again after the long winter.
In July and August the nights gets a bit darker, the green is deeper and the weather is usually warm.
In July, August and September the forest is full of mushrooms and berries that you are free to pick as much as you´d like.
The leaves fall of the trees in October and the snow usually comes around November/December. In the winter you have the opportunity to see the northern lights and there are only about 6 hours of bright daylight in the middle of December. Here we go all in for Christmas during the whole of December.
January-February are excellent for winter-sports and ice fishing.
During May-September there´s Wifi, mostly it works fine but it is a little bit depending on the weather.
During the cold period there is an oven that you can use for cooking in the wood stove. (During the summer it gets too warm inside to heat it up.)

You´ll stay in the small and beautiful village Langhed with around 200 inhabitants.
2012 the Halsingland Farmhouses were inscribed on UNESCO´s World Heritage List under the name "Decorated Farmhouses of Halsingland". In Langhed we have the two biggest farms represented on the list of the World heritage; Jon-Lars and Pallars. During the summer you can get guided tours in them. Our part of Sweden has got a lot of good quality forests and that’s why the farmers could build so big. ForRest is built by the same forests as my ancestors build those magnificent houses 200 years ago.
The fishing and wildlife is good and we have a lot of good craftsmen.

I'm a Swedish woman who loves to explore new places and to meet new people. I've got two children and I mostly travel with them or/and my partner Jocke. I also rent out a house that I've built in the Swedish forest on Airbnb and I think Airbnb is great! (ForRest in Alfta, Sweden)
