About This Listing
Unit 202 has a 1-week minimum rental period, is a nicely furnished, 1 br/1 bath mobile home in a perfectly manicured, supervised park (55+ age required). 50 steps to powdery white sand and crystal gulf water with manatees and dolphins. Free trolley transport all over island, all day.
A classic 1970s mobile home with lots of room. This unit features an updated interior, a queen-size pullout couch for guests and many extras.
This is a unique park on a beautiful barrier island, dating from 1940s with units ranging from vintage restored to luxurious manufactured homes. The park has a 55+ age requirement, no pets, and is perfectly landscaped and maintained. There is a clubhouse, library, boat docks, laundromat, and shuffleboard courts that see a lot of action! Our unit is clean, modern and nicely furnished, with a sizable kitchen and bathroom, pull out sofa in living room. Stroll literally right across the street and your feet sink into Anna Maria 's famous "powdered sugar" sand. Shells and water birds abound, and manatee and dolphin sightings are common. The island is covered with walking and biking trails.
Anna Maria is one of Florida's most loved barrier islands, still charming and with strict building codes that have prevented development and high rises from taking over! The island's beaches are consistently ranked among the nation's top ten, and the island itself offers a variety of wonderful restaurants, charming shops, and historical sites. One of the island's best features are the old-fashioned electric trolleys that circle the island nonstop. They are free...just hop on and ring the bell to disembark!
Fully furnished mobile home, with nice linens and beach towels, fully stocked kitchen and bath. Internet and cable provided and a large, comfortable pull-out sofa in living room.
Interaction with Guests
Airport transfers can be provided, cost depending on which nearby airport (Tampa, St. Petersburg, or Sarasota). You can get anywhere on the island via the free trolley, so no need to rent a vehicle!
The Sandpiper Resort co-op is a lively 55+ park in the winter season, with beach walks, shuffleboard tournaments, and potlucks on the lawn by the new boat docks! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. We are in the narrowest part of the island, so the park goes from waterfront to waterfront, ocean to bay.
The free trolley in Anna Maria is fantastic! The trolley stops every 20 minutes, going in either direction. There are several of them that circle the island continuously. They are fun to ride around and sight-see from--just ring the bell to get off, and hop back on when you are ready! It is a great savings not to have to rent a car to get around, and you really do not need one if you want to stay on the island.
Other Things to Note
Unit 202 and other rentals have a 1 week rental minimum, monthly rates or longer negotiable based on season(s).
At least one renter must be 55 or older. Please no smoking inside and no butts left around the patio please! There are no pets allowed except for service animals which would require permission from the main office. Park kept clean, safe and peaceful....NOT a wild party spot.
We love staying at Erick's place! It is super comfortable, clean, well equipped and so convenient to the beach! This is our second time staying and we are already thinking about our next trip. Thank you Janet and Erick!
We just missed Erik on our arrival, but he had made all the arrangements for our stay. After getting moved in, we walked around among the mobile home community, and found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming. The mobile home is as we anticipated -- it has some age, but everything functioned well. At times we needed A/C and at other times a bit of heat, and both worked well. We made Christmas dinner in the kitchen, and had everything we needed. The beach is across the street, a very short walk. Parking is close to the mobile home - probably not more than 50 feet from the front door.
As one would expect in a mobile home, space is limited, and there is little room for suitcases in the bedroom. We used the adjacent enclosed (and more spacious) porch area to store our stuff.
We felt safe in the community, and it was very quiet. The bed was quite comfortable.
The island is served by a free trolley, which is a great way to get around. We found several good restaurants, and got our food, etc. from the Publix just up the road.
If we have the opportunity to visit Anna Maria Island/Bradenton Beach again, we would enjoy returning to Erik's mobile home.
Thanks William...we appreciate your thoughtful review! Yes, those tiny ants are what we call "sugar ants" here in Florida. Their size makes it almost impossible to keep them out without pesticide, which we hate to use...but we do occasionally put little traps out for them. But yes, it is a lovely, friendly little community! Hope you make it back again!
The listing was accurate. Very clean home. Tastefully decorated. Loved it. Neighborhood was 55plus community so it was very quiet. You do not need a car if you want to stay on the island. The free trolley was convenient and reliable. The kitchen was stocked with spices, coffee, beverages etc when we arrived. Erik stayed in touch the whole week. Except for breakfast, we ate out most days. But if you want to make all meals, this home has a fully functioning kitchen. Restaurants nearby were great. Beach is walking distance. Again, thanks Erik for providing us a home away from home.
I stayed in Erik's 312 unit. I would describe it as the perfect beach bungalow. You could just show up with a toothbrush and clean clothes and go grocery shopping and all else is provided. Erik was there to greet me and make me feel welcome. The complex is very quiet and totally safe. I even felt goofy locking my door .The beach really is just across the street and stores are very close so it's an easy situation.
Gary, thanks for your kind comments, and also your input on the wi-fi! I think what we need to do is simply hook up permanent wi- fi there so nobody has to use Pink Flamingo (the park's service). If you or a friend ever want to rent again, let us know and we will deduct this past week's wi-fi cost from your or their rental! Would love to see you there again in #202 or #312.
We truly enjoyed out stay at Erik's 202 beach house. He is easy to work with and his accommodations were comfortable, clean, and very well equipped (he had everything we needed or wanted and then some). It is indeed close to the water. We will definitely rent from Erik again and have recommended him to our friends.

About the Host, Erik
Hi, I'm your host, Erik MacPeek. I am a creative consultant-graphic designer with skills in renovation carpentry – frequently put to good use maintaining the rental listings here on AirBnB. Since we began listing our properties on the site, we have met all kinds of great people along the way!
Originally from southeastern Connecticut, I now live full-time in Tampa, Florida, with my Floridian wife, 3 kids and various pets. We love to travel and explore the world together and with our children (ages 18-20) – from the Caribbean to China! In the summer, we always migrate up to New England to spend time with family, friends and enjoy the New England coastline (and great seafood!). There in Stonington – on the southeastern Connecticut coastline – we all try to congregate each summer on my family's 120 year-old summer retreat called SEA ACRES. It consists of three cottages on four acres, looking out over a salt-marsh cove and across Fisher's Island and Long Island Sounds. We are backed by a nature conservancy, and love the wildlife we see there every day (chipmunks, dozens of bird species, woodchucks, skunk, fox, deer and an occasional coyote).
In Florida we also have listed 2 little vintage beach trailers on the coastal barrier island of Anna Maria, with white powdery sand beaches. Those are often available summer through fall on Airbnb, but they are always booked a year in advance for the winter months when all the snowbirds come down to flee the cold weather.
As a creative person and stickler for details, I make sure my rentals are unique, comfortable and well stocked. My feeling is that people appreciate the small details, like nice dishes and linens, good hospitality and a little snack when they first arrive. These were not furnished or decorated for the rental market, but as our second homes, and they have unique touches throughout, including pieces such as my great grandmother's sea chest from Ireland, grandpa's ship's wheel and my wife's grandmother's walnut table and pier mirror. Nothing from the big box stores!
We are gardeners both here and in New England, and over the years have planted more than 1,000 daffodil bulbs at the Stonington, CT property, a real sight to see in early spring.
We have very much enjoyed working with Airbnb, and use them ourselves when we travel. My recent trip to Norway included staying in a fabulous AirBnB apartment near downtown Oslo. It was in a great historic area just a 10 minute walk from downtown... fantastic!
Enjoy your stay and please sign the guest book!
