Experience the magic of the marrakech old medina from the other side! Situated in the heart of Marrakech is our private riads. You will experience a taste of culture mixed with some moroccan spirit and just a twist of european style!
Our riad (moroccan house) is beautifully decorated in a very tradition style. All the walls and floors are covered in beautifully decorated tiles. Just beyond the front door is a small water fountain which creates a relaxing atmosphere and is very usual of old moroccan houses. The sitting area is typically moroccan style and has hosted many shared moroccan meals with tourists, friends and family.
All the rooms have their own private bathroom and typical moroccan style doors!
Within a few minutes walk you will reach an area of more gardens and 3 swimming pools! There is a few small shops that sell fresh bread everyday (with fixed prices), a pizzaria, a coffee and free wifi!
Guests have access to a relaxing terrace with views of the atlas mountains, 3 swimming pools, beautiful gardens, little shops, cafe with wifi. In the Riad there is a kitchen if you would like to have a cooking lesson with us. There is a roof terrace which you can sit in and catch the sun, for sunbathing, eating and barbecues. There are gardens, trees and flowers surrounding the whole area of private riads and around the swimming pool area. This seems a funny thing to share but in Marrakech areas of garden are a haven in the heat as they bring a fresh wanted coolness.
We enjoy interacting with our guests, sharing stories, giving information and guidance about staying in morocco, the best trips etc. On a friday it is Cous Cous day. If all goes according to our schedule we like to prepare and share the experience of eating as a moroccan family with our guests if your around. Please ask and we let you know.
If you have any problems, queries or concerns please let us know in advance of your stay and during your stay please do not hesitate to discuss anything. We want to make you feel as comforable as possible so that your stay is one of the best memories that you take with you.
We run moroccan cooking lessons with a traditional moroccan chef. We will take you to the market to buy vegetables and meat, then return to cook a tangine the traditional way on hot coals. Its a fun lesson and a fantastic way to spend an evening in Marrakech. A unique experience cooking and eating outside in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!) There is an additional charge for this but way cheaper then any cooking class you would find anywhere else!
If you want to smoke a shisha pipe while your staying with us this can also be arranged. We have a few flavours to choose from and we charge for a group of people 50dhms per head. In the medina you will be charged 100dhms upwards. We have a moroccan chill area where you can smoke or on the terrace.
We can take you to a real local moroccan hammam where you will have a real traditional scrub not touristic at all! In addition we have a local massage therapist professionally trained who can give you the spa treatment in the comfort of your own room. So total relaxment!
We are situated in a typical moroccan but 'private' area for families that is only accessable to guests and residents of the area. This allows a feeling of comfort knowing that you can walk freely around enjoying the area without being approached or hassled by sellers. Instead you get to experience the moroccan daily life passing you by but still have that interaction with other tourists. The riads are actually a haven for relaxation and chilling after walking around and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the marrakech souks and medina.
The riads are situated 5 minutes from the bab Khemis market which happens every Thursday and Sunday and is famous for getting bargains and a few people have even bought a few antiques!
The residents in this private area are very friendly and like to chat and share moroccan tea or a meal at a given opportunity.
You are within walking distance of all the touristic sights including Jardin Marjorelle, The Tanneries, maison de photography, La Koutoubia, Jemma Fna Square, School of Ben Youseff, Bab Khemis Market, Bahia Palace, The Tombs of the Saidens. You are also within a 5 minute taxi ride to the beautiful palmaraie area where you can go quad biking, camel riding. visit the museum of marrakech or go and play golf! Also in this area you will find some great evening entertainment with a brazillian restaurant, a shisha lounge and a spanish tapas bar all of which have live music.
You ARE situated in the old medina but not in the 'Jemma Fna Square' which many people associate with just being 'the old medina'. The medina actually covers a very wide area that includes the area here where the riad is situated. Literally just across the road from the private riad complex is the old wall with the big arched doorways that contained original Marrakech and hidden within are the winding streets and alleys containing interesting souks, shops, touristic places of interest, bars, restaurants and more which can mainly be reached by walking but you can take a taxi or even a bus to some place. There are also horse and carriages in Marrakech which is a lovely way to see the city both old and new.
We can help with tours to the desert, Essaouira and the cascades, plus trekking as we deal with a good company who keeps his prices real.
We have all the information for transport within the city.
We can also help you hire a car or scooter for travel around marrakech and morocco
All bedrooms have their own private bathroom with a shower providing hot water using an immersion heater. We provide towels and bedding. We are happy to change these during the week if your staying for more than 5 days but please if you need clean ones before then let us know!
There is WIFI within the Riad which can be used throughout even on the terrace!
A light breakfast is available at 9.30 on monday to friday and 10,30am on Saturday. We do not serve breakfast on a Sunday. Breakfast is traditional moroccan style with mint tea and may include fresh bread, moroccan pastrys, moroccan breakfast soup, fresh fruit or yoghurt. We serve different things at different times of year
We do have a tiny dog called Coco (a mini teckel) who we rescued from a shelter. He is still new to this world so is learning about life and people. Yes he barks at new things but this is quickly forgotten when you experience his cute, fun, crazy side! Let us know if this would be an issue for you as we would never want this to effect your stay.
For tours - We make sure we only use companies that provide our guests with enjoyable trips. As this is morocco though and is not inline with european/america customer service training there may be some parts of the trip that do not reach your expectations. We welcome feedback and ensure we deal with any issues you may have.
Please note the pool is heated only from the sun! In the summer this is of course excellent as you have a nice cool pool during the morning and a warm pool during the afternoon. However in the winter months (November- February) the pool is not suitable for swimming and during this period the pool may be emptied in order to be cleaned for the next season. However the sun is always shining in Marrakech and so you can still relax and chill by the pool as it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is very quiet and relaxing. The pool is generally open from 9am until 6/7pm everyday from around late March/ early April. However this is subject to change depending on what is happening in Morocco! As we say here 'this is morocco (T.I.M) anything can happen!' Please contact us at the time of booking to confirm the status of the pool.
Smoking is not permitted within the riad anywhere except outside or on the terrace.

Let's see. Where to start. I contacted and booked two different places before I found Karim. After I asked the first couple where I could get coffee in the morning they told me they didn't think I'd be happy there and asked me to cancel. After I booked the second place I asked the guy about tours, since he said he's a guide. He never wrote back. Karim, on the other hand was more than happy to answer my questions. He helped me get a couple tours at a much reduced rate, went to the train station for me when I was ready to leave. So basically, he and his wife Debbie are both very accomodating, warm and gracious hosts. Plus they have a cute little dog.
The complex they're in is outside the medina, about a twenty minute walk from the main square, Djmaa el Fna. I was okay walking into the medina but liked to get a taxi back. I couldn't get the ride for less than 30 dirham.
The bed was a bit harder than I'm used to. And the blanket and bedspread slipped off the bed when I was asleep a bunch of times. But that's no big deal. Breakfast is light, tea and bread, jam, cake, maybe some fruit. That's good though. Because there are so many places to eat in the medina. Nice glass of OJ for 4 dirham, soup in the night market for 3 were a couple of great deals.
All in all, had a great time in Marrakech and recommend Karim's home. Also, if you want to buy a bunch of stuff and send it home Karim can help you get a good deal.
I had a wonderful time at Karim and Debbies place. It's very homely, cheap and both Karim and Debbie are extremely friendly and helpful. They give good advice about what to see and do, help you with the challenges you will meet in Morocco as af foreigner, serve nice breakfast - and they have the cutest dog in the world! Its nice to just outside the citywalls with the possibility to have some peace and quiet in the area they live in. I give them my warmest reccomendations and hope to be back again:-)
Karim and Debbie were very welcoming, friendly hosts.
The rooms - Myself and a friend had one each - were clean, had comfortable beds with nice fresh bedding. Basic, but did the job. The riad was in a quiet area that felt very safe, with shops and cafe nearby. Freshly made breakfast was included. Karim kindly gave us an evening meal on arrival, and sorted taxi for our arrival at airport.
We had a great relaxing stay. Accommodation was good, clean and friendly. Karim and Debbie welcomed us into their home and gave excellent advice for navigating The Medina and dealing with the souks. We enjoyed the company of a few other guests and some sightseeing. It is a 20 minute walk into the centre and a 40 DH taxi ride back to the Riad at night. There are a couple of cafes and shops on the site. The Riad terrace was fine for relaxing in the sun now that the pools have been emptied. Koko the dog was great fun. Breakfast was a good start to the day and all other food eaten at the local stalls was fine. All in all just what the Dr ordered to recharge our batteries. Many thanks, well worth a visit :-)
I had an absolutely fantastic time in Marrakech, and that's thanks to the hosts Karim and Debbie. I was made to feel so welcome as soon as I arrived, and they both couldn't do enough for me.
The house was exactly what I was looking for...a place to chill out and relax, in a beautiful, clean traditional Riad. An amazing place to stay for the price...especially with a freshly cooked Moroccan breakfast each morning.
Even though I was only there for a few days I left feeling like a local!! The cooking lesson was fantastic, such a great evening with the Karim, Debbie and the other guests.
I would definitely go back, and book here each time.
Karim & Debbie made sure that I was taken care of during my stay! They are great people and you get your own private bathroom at the Riad which is a big plus. Had some great chats with Debbie and she gave me tips on how to deal with the locals/the medina. The place comes with a super awesome playful puppy, there is also small restaurant and some shops nearby which is convenient.
*If you are going to Merzouga, book a 4 day tour as the 3 day is just an overnight-morning stay and it's not enough to enjoy the desert and don't forget medicine for the road as the ride through the mountains is super windy.*
