Experience the magic of the marrakech old medina from the other side! Situated in the heart of Marrakech is our private riad. You will experience a taste of culture mixed with some moroccan spirit and just a twist of european style!

The Space

Our riad (moroccan house) is beautifully decorated in a very tradition style. All the walls and floors are covered in beautifully decorated tiles. Just beyond the front door is a small water fountain which creates a relaxing atmosphere and is very usual of old moroccan houses. The sitting area is typically moroccan style and has hosted many shared moroccan meals with tourists, friends and family.
All the rooms have their own private bathroom and typical moroccan style doors!
Within a few minutes walk you will reach an area of more gardens and 3 swimming pools! There is a few small shops that sell fresh bread everyday (with fixed prices), a pizzaria, a coffee and free wifi!

Guest Access

Guests have access to a relaxing terrace, 3 swimming pools, beautiful gardens, little shops, cafe with wifi. In the Riad there is a kitchen if you would like to have a cooking lesson with us. There is a roof terrace which you can sit in and catch the sun, for sunbathing, eating and barbecues. There are gardens, trees and flowers surrounding the whole area of private riads and around the swimming pool area. This seems a funny thing to share but in Marrakech areas of garden are a haven in the heat as they bring a fresh wanted coolness.

Interaction with Guests

We enjoy interacting with our guests, sharing stories, giving information and guidance about staying in morocco, the best trips etc. On a friday it is Cous Cous day. If all goes according to our schedule we like to prepare and share the experience of eating as a moroccan family with our guests if your around. Please ask and we let you know.

If you have any problems, queries or concerns please let us know in advance of your stay and during your stay please do not hesitate to discuss anything. We want to make you feel as comforable as possible so that your stay is one of the best memories that you take with you.

We run moroccan cooking lessons with a traditional moroccan chef. We will take you to the market to buy vegetables and meat, then return to cook a tangine the traditional way on hot coals. Its a fun lesson and a fantastic way to spend an evening in Marrakech. A unique experience cooking and eating outside in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!) There is an additional charge for this but way cheaper then any cooking class you would find anywhere else!

If you want to smoke a shisha pipe while your staying with us this can also be arranged. We have a few flavours to choose from and we charge for a group of people 50dhms per head. In the medina you will be charged 100dhms upwards. We have a moroccan chill area where you can smoke or on the terrace.

We can take you to a real local moroccan hammam where you will have a real traditional scrub not touristic at all! In addition we have a local massage therapist professionally trained who can give you the spa treatment in the comfort of your own room. So total relaxment!

The Neighborhood

We are situated in a typical moroccan but 'private' area for families that is only accessable to guests and residents of the area. This allows a feeling of comfort knowing that you can walk freely around enjoying the area without being approached or hassled by sellers. Instead you get to experience the moroccan daily life passing you by but still have that interaction with other tourists. The riads are actually a haven for relaxation and chilling after walking around and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the marrakech souks and medina.

The riads are situated 5 minutes from the bab Khemis market which happens every Thursday and Sunday and is famous for getting bargains and a few people have even bought a few antiques!

The residents in this private area are very friendly and like to chat and share moroccan tea or a meal at a given opportunity.

You are within walking distance of all the touristic sights including Jardin Marjorelle, The Tanneries, maison de photography, La Koutoubia, Jemma Fna Square, School of Ben Youseff, Bab Khemis Market, Bahia Palace, The Tombs of the Saidens. You are also within a 5 minute taxi ride to the beautiful palmaraie area where you can go quad biking, camel riding. visit the museum of marrakech or go and play golf! Also in this area you will find some great evening entertainment with a brazillian restaurant, a shisha lounge and a spanish tapas bar all of which have live music.

Getting around

You ARE situated in the old medina but not in the 'Jemma Fna Square' which many people associate with just being 'the old medina'. The medina actually covers a very wide area that includes the area here where the riad is situated. Literally just across the road from the private riad complex is the old wall with the big arched doorways that contained original Marrakech and hidden within are the winding streets and alleys containing interesting souks, shops, touristic places of interest, bars, restaurants and more which can mainly be reached by walking but you can take a taxi or even a bus to some place. There are also horse and carriages in Marrakech which is a lovely way to see the city both old and new.

We can help with tours to the desert, Essaouira and the cascades, plus trekking as we deal with a good company who keeps his prices real.
We have all the information for transport within the city.
We can also help you hire a car or scooter for travel around marrakech and morocco

Other Things to Note

All bedrooms have their own private bathroom with a shower providing hot water using an immersion heater. We provide towels and bedding. We are happy to change these during the week if your staying for more than 5 days but please if you need clean ones before then let us know!

There is WIFI within the Riad which can be used throughout even on the terrace!

A light breakfast is available at 9.30 on monday to friday and 10am on Saturday. We do not serve breakfast on a Sunday. Breakfast is traditional moroccan style with mint tea and may include fresh bread, moroccan pastrys, moroccan breakfast soup, fresh fruit or yoghurt. We serve different things at different times of year

We do have a tiny dog called Coco (a mini teckel) who we rescued from a shelter. He is still new to this world so is learning about life and people. Yes he barks at new things but this is quickly forgotten when you experience his cute, fun, crazy side! Let us know if this would be an issue for you as we would never want this to effect your stay.

For tours - We make sure we only use companies that provide our guests with enjoyable trips. As this is morocco though and is not inline with european/america customer service training there may be some parts of the trip that do not reach your expectations. We welcome feedback and ensure we deal with any issues you may have.

Please note the pool is heated only from the sun! In the summer this is of course excellent as you have a nice cool pool during the morning and a warm pool during the afternoon. However in the winter months (November- February) the pool is not suitable for swimming and during this period the pool may be emptied in order to be cleaned for the next season. However the sun is always shining in Marrakech and so you can still relax and chill by the pool as it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is very quiet and relaxing. The pool is generally open from 9am until 6/7pm everyday from around late March/ early April. However this is subject to change depending on what is happening in Morocco! As we say here 'this is morocco (T.I.M) anything can happen!' Please contact us at the time of booking to confirm the status of the pool. The pool is not open on a friday in respect of friday prayer.

Smoking is not permitted within the riad anywhere except outside or on the terrace.

  • Karim and his wife were wonderful hosts. The area of the Riad is a very safe gated community with its own shops and simple restaurants. The pools are wonderful and clean and lively. It is very easy walking distance to the Medina and the Big Square (The Jemma el Fna). I stayed for three nights and was glad that I did. If I come back through Marrakech I will be sure to stay here again. I also splurged and got the 5 Euro air-con upgrade for the last night and was glad I did. The price was great - the owners were knowledgable and friendly - but not at all intrusive - and the location was great - and it always felt safe in the surrounding area and in the Riad itself. And Cocoa the dog was great company. BTW - Get a local sim-card for your smart phone to use as your GPS within the Medina. The human GPS providers will ask 100 Dirham (10 Euro) to guide you to the square or anywhere else. And the tanneries were sad, awful places. There does not seem to be an upside to seeing carcasses being processed into touristic souvenirs.

  • I wish I could give more stars, 5 isn't enough for the hospitality that we were shown by Karim and Debbie. They went above and beyond in every way imaginable to make sure we felt welcomed and our stay was as enjoyable as possible. They really have hearts of gold. And Karim makes really good café latte (haha Karim!). They are able to assist with lining up tours and Karim seems to know everybody in the city and can point you in the right direction for whatever you need. They also have a very reliable taxi driver that they can call whenever a ride is needed around the city or to/from the airport. (If you decide to just take a taxi from one of the taxis available outside of the airport, 150 dirhams is a fair price that will get you to Karim's).

Their home is exactly like the description in a great location that is far enough away from the hustle bustle that it's not in your face ever time you walk out the door but close enough to be able to get to on foot in 10 minutes. They've done an amazing job with the furnishings which immerse you with the feel of Morocco. The house was always clean and tidy and having three swimming pools just outside the door was a refreshing amenity after a day of shopping in the heat.
I can't wait to go back.
    Thanks again Karim and Debbie!

  • Karim and his wife, Debbie were wonderful hosts. They were engaging and helpful in all aspects of my visit to Marrakech. Their home was clean and comfortable. The room was nicely decorated and a true bargain for the price. And there was ample hot water in the shower. The pool was a real treat after a long day of touring and shopping in the medina. I especially enjoyed the light breakfast each morning with Karim, Debbie and other house guests.

Without question, I recommend Karim & Debbie's home and in fact should I return to Marrakech I will book to stay with them again.

  • We had a great time staying at Karim's place. He and Debbie are fantastic hosts and helped us a lot with getting around, organizing tours etc. They were very kind and allowed us to leave our bags behind when we went to a desert trip so that we didn't have to carry too many things. They also allowed us to stay much later on our last day. We wanted to stay out of the noise, pollution and mess of the Medina and Karim's place was a perfect place! We walked to the Medina every day but happily came back to this oasis of peace. There is a swimming pool to enjoy on a hot day and Karim has provided us with towels. The room we had was a typical double, big enough, with a private bathroom. The neighborhood is a clean and quiet, guarded place. There is a convenience store, a coffee shop and a pharmacy open until late. We had a lovely time in Marrakesh and it was also thanks to Karim, Debbie and their great Riad! Hope to see you guys again one day :)

  • This riad is just outside the old medina in a nice safe neighbourhood complex with a lovely pool. It had its own shops on site and security, and felt like a haven. Karim and Debbie were really welcoming and informative about getting to grips with Marrakech. The breakfast was decent but only served at 9:30am each day which didn't suit us every day but may not cause others any issues. The room was clean and comfortable.

  • After my one week in Marrakesh, Karim and Debbie will forever hold a place in my heart and in my home. They shared meals, advices, tales and music. Clean bedroom, fluffy towels, safe neighborhood. It's a residential condominium (with a security crew by the gates) well located and well known (easy to walk to and from on foot or by taxi). The shops inside the complex have everyday items, quite the convenience. Karim is a resourceful, well conected and helpful man. Debbie is the sweetest woman and, together, they made me feel really welcomed. They are respectful and have a lot of empathy. They booked tours for me and also helped me choose from so many options with good tips and insights. After I left by train, Karim called me several times to make sure I had arrived safely to my destination.
Priceless. My only regret is that I couldn't bring Coco back to Brasil with me!

  • This riad was great. If you want to 'live like a local' this is the place for you. Karim was very nice and accommodating every step of the way. He organized the ride to and from the airport for us -- BIG HELP!! As well as gave us lots of tips for navigating the city. There was also a cooking class for about $20 plus the cost of ingredients that was well worth it.

All taxi drivers know of this location: Qaria Siahia. So, it was never a bother to get back home. It should be about 20-40 dirhams from Jemaa el-Fnaa.

If you're looking for a great B&B, this is an excellent option.

I am originally from Morocco but I have spent my time travelling around the world. I have been to 17 countries and have learnt much about life, cultures, languages, food and people. I love to meet with new people and share and discover more! In my travels I have spent time as a DJ and a latin dancer. I dance salsa, bachata, merengue and reagatton. I love music and as a DJ I play everytype of music you can think - maybe not classical though!! I like to swop music with people I meet.
