Interaction with Guests
I carry around an iPhone 5, which I check very often. Contact shouldn't be a problem. A little patience is required as I am staying in the US while you are renting my Berlin home. Time differences can be confusing.
The taxis are friendly and come over in less than 10 minutes – any time.
I also tested MyTaxi and it seems to work well to call cabs, but there are so many close-by, that you might get in the one you didn't call, or with the one you coincidentally can't pay with credit card. Taxis worked well for me so far. To the airport Schönefeld it costs around 30€ and to Tegel (less than) 25€. Most of the time I take the U7 to the airports as it's not that big of a difference by time but a huge one for money (2,80€ XSchönefeld & 2,30€ XTegel). If you have a lot of luggage to carry to the apartment, I recommend to take the U7-Südstern exit as it has an elevator. The apartment is right in between the Gneisenauer Straße stop and Südstern.
Parking is usually available on the street right in front of the house. Trains and busses are a 5-10 minute walk each direction. There is a bus stop across the street (M41) towards Alt-Tempelhof, which gets you to the awesome decommissioned Tempelhof Airport, which is now a huge park. The other direction(Ostbahnhof), the stop is further up Gneisenauer Straße or further down Baerwaldstraße/Urbanstraße, gets you to Kottbusser Tor. There you can find another buzzing Kiez of Berlin, full of shops, cafés and bars and delicious middle-eastern restaurants.
No smoking anywhere in the apartment!
No parties allowed. Parties always cause trouble! Please celebrate in any of the many awesome cafés in the neighborhood.
No drinks or food items on the lounge chairs!
Since I rent only to guests who stay 2 months or longer:
There is a cleaning fee, but that doesn't mean you don't need to clean until you leave. Please treat the apt. with resprect and clean regularly. Cleaning supplies are under the bathroom and kitchen sinks and kitchen window.
