Gorgeous, cozy, private bedroom and private full bath located on New Orleans' famed Esplanade Avenue in the Treme neighborhood.
*** Please note: I want to accommodate everyone's booking needs, but dates are first come, first serve. A pre approval is not a guarantee someone else will not book the dates first, so please act fast if you truly need the accommodations. Cheers! ***
Available for your stay is a sunny and spacious bedroom room with it's own private full bathroom. It is a second story corner unit furnished with a queen sized bed. There are hardwood floors and high ceilings, windows on two sides of the room, and a view overlooking New Orleans' beautiful and beloved Esplanade Avenue in the heralded Treme neighborhood.
The apartment is old but beautifully and lovingly renovated and restored. It's got old charm but is centrally heated, so cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The space is bright, tidy, comfortable and a little compact, it's perfect for relaxing in between times of exploration and fun. Because of the shared nature of the common spaces, please keep nighttime noises to a minimum! You will be sharing the kitchen and living room with myself and one petite, friendly chatty indoor cat. She is really meowy but never, ever mean.
The kitchen will be stocked with tea and coffee for your convenience. There will be fresh linens and towels for your use. There is also a washer and dryer in the unit.
You will have your choice of two Schwinn vintage bicycles (locks included) to use responsibly around the city, so you can take a breezy ride up Esplanade to City Park and the Museum of Art, or down Esplanade directly to the French Quarter or the Marigny. We are a stone's throw from two of the best lunch joints for fried chicken, Lil' Dizzy's Cafe and Willie Mae's Scotch House. There's also a new coffee shop up the road called Pagoda Cafe that serves amazing cortados and Australian sausage rolls. They will be a great way to start your days of adventure and fun. And then, of course, the French Quarter is only 9 blocks away.
Everything you could want is easily walkable in daylight, coffee shops, restaurants, though I feel strongly that biking is the best way to get around and experience the city! If you prefer other modes of transportation, there is a bus line than runs along Esplanade and will take you to the French Quarter in less than 10 minutes, it is trackable via the web so you have a sense of when it will arrive at your stop. Also plenty of free street parking, like, right in front of the apartment. Save your energy and money, as walking to the French Quarter will take around 15 minutes and as very safe during the day time, then a cab ride from the FQ/Marigny for nighttime is less than $10.
I am quiet and private, but you'll find I am also friendly and always available to assist… very responsive to any questions and love to help with troubleshooting and tips as to where to go to eat or explore around the city.
I'm an experienced host, having shared duties for the past few months at a prior apartment with my friend Alita (see References), and have also stayed as a guest at Airbnb places around the world (Paris, Rome, Berlin, Montreal). I've had the most amazing experiences and would like to continue sharing them with others.
Please note: I am speedy to respond, and welcome last minute stays, as well as am flexible about key drop offs and check in/out times, but please make sure your profile has a bunch of photos and verifications so I get a good sense of who will be coming to stay. I welcome new users to airbnb as long as I can sort of tell who you are.
Jane was as perfect a host as her location was for another wonderful stay in New Orleans. There are not enough superlatives to express about my experience at her home. She was very helpful and willing with her recommendations. My next visit to NOLA will definitely have to be at her abode.
Jane was very accommodating and answered my questions very promptly! Great stay!
YOUR HOST: Jane is adorable, smart, strong, warm, hospitable... a genuine and rare human being. She knows this city and has superlative insight into destinations off most tourist's radar.
THE ROOM: spotless (like, spit-spot), comfortable, spacious, climate controlled, and well cared for... as was the private bathroom.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: safe, central, quiet, historic, and walking-distance to the quarter/frenchman street (or an effortless $7 cab ride).
THE SUPER-AWESOME CARTOON CAT: Like, overburdened-with-cuteness cat.
BOTTOM LINE: The most effortless alternative lodging situation we've ever had. This is the best deal in New Orleans. We're coming back.
The home was very conveniently located to the French quarter. It was clean and cozy. Jane gave some great advice about local spots to eat and go out.
Jane was a wonderful host. The private bathroom and bedroom were very clean and comfortable. The area felt very safe and near enough to everything I wanted to get to in the French Quarter. The cat is ridiculously cute, as well. Thanks Jane!
We had a wonderful time staying at Jane's place! We had more than enough space, the shower was hot, and the wifi was strong. Also, Jane was kind enough to leave us breakfast food - english muffins, fruit, eggs, coffee, etc. that we could have in the morning. In addition, Jane gave us great recs for restaurants and places to listen to wonderful live music. She knows what she's talking about! We also used two bikes available to ride around the adjoining neighborhoods to Treme. For the cost and comfort, Jane's apt is wonderful.
If it is your first time in New Orleans, keep in mind that Treme is an up and coming neighborhood, so it is separate from the typically southern style or vibe of places like the French Quarter or Uptown and you will have to commute to have that experience. Overall, thanks to Jane for being such a wonderful, genuine and accommodating host!
Jane was the most incredible host. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience staying with Jane. Not only do you have a private room with a private bathroom (which makes a huge difference) but you have all of the comfort level of being in your own home with the relaxation of vacation.
Jane was more than accommodating, not to mention incredibly warm, a great conversationalist, and her intricate knowledge of the city was more than we could have asked for. On top of all of that (as if there could be more) her cat was a friendly little ball of personality and fun.
We will surely be staying with Jane again when we return to New Orleans as long as she isn't booked up!
Jane was a wonderful host. I barely noticed she was there during my stay, and when she was, she provided a wealth of knowledge about the area. She provided two bikes (which I didn't have an opportunity to use due to my schedule), but the house was easily within walking distance of the French Quarter, great dining, and other activities. Everything else was perfect, and I plan on staying again the next time I travel to New Orleans.
We had a great time staying at Jane's for the weekend, on the beautiful Esplanade Avenue. The location was perfect and it was nice walk down to either the French Quarter or Frenchmen Street. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance, and the neighborhood felt comfortable. The room itself has great light and your own private bathroom. Also, Jane had two bikes we borrowed for the weekend that made exploring the city even better. We rode those bikes everywhere! Thanks Jane for being a great host!
Jane was a great host! It was easy to pickup the keys and she answered any questions I had just from a text message while we were out. The place was clean and comfortable, with the friendliest cat I've ever met. We biked to and from the french quarter and it was great. Just a short ride down her street and one or two turns and you are there. I would stay here again if given the chance.
