Gorgeous, cozy, private bedroom and private full bath in a peaceful, shared apartment with cat that is located on New Orleans' famed Esplanade Avenue in the Treme neighborhood, with two bicycles included.
Available for your stay is a sunny and spacious bedroom room with it's own private full bathroom. It is a second story corner unit furnished with a queen sized bed. There are hardwood floors and high ceilings, windows on two sides of the room, and a view overlooking New Orleans' beautiful and beloved Esplanade Avenue in the heralded Treme neighborhood.
The apartment is old but beautifully and lovingly renovated and restored. It's got old charm but is centrally heated, so cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The space is bright, tidy, comfortable and a little compact, it's perfect for relaxing in between times of exploration and fun. Because of the shared nature of the common spaces, please keep night time noises to a minimum! You will be sharing the kitchen and living room with myself and one petite, friendly chatty indoor cat. She is really meowy but never, ever mean.
The kitchen will be stocked with tea and coffee for your convenience. There will be fresh linens and towels for your use.
If you are in need of doing laundry, there is also a washer and dryer in the unit, located next to the front door right in the living room.
We are truly accessible to the best parts of the city, just a walk or ride up Esplanade to City Park and the Museum of Art, or down Esplanade directly to the French Quarter or the Marigny. We are a stone's throw from two of the best lunch joints for fried chicken, Lil' Dizzy's Cafe and Willie Mae's Scotch House. There's also a new coffee shop up the road called P(website hidden) Cafe that serves amazing cortados and Australian sausage rolls. They will be a great way to start your days of adventure and fun. And then, of course, the French Quarter is only 9 blocks away.
Everything you could want is easily walkable in daylight, coffee shops, restaurants, though I feel strongly that biking is the best way to get around and experience the city! If you prefer other modes of transportation, there is a bus line than runs along Esplanade and will take you to the French Quarter in less than 10 minutes, it is trackable via the web so you have a sense of when it will arrive at your stop. Also plenty of free street parking, like, right in front of the apartment. Save your energy and money, as walking to the French Quarter will take around 15 minutes and as very safe during the day time, then a cab ride from the FQ/Marigny for nighttime is less than $10.
OF COURSE, you will have use to two bicycles to use to zip over to various points of New Orleans, and locks and lights are included (though you may want to bring your own helmet, if desired).
Interaction with Guests
I am quiet and private, but you'll find I am also friendly and always available to assist… very responsive to any questions and love to help with troubleshooting and tips as to where to go to eat or explore around the city.
I'm an experienced host and have also stayed as a guest at Airbnb places around the world (Paris, Rome, Berlin, Montreal). I've had the most amazing experiences and would like to continue sharing them with others.
This particular area of New Orleans is absolutely picturesque and vibrant. It's where Bayou St. John and Treme meet, and the Fairgrounds where many music festivals are held is just up the street, a 15-20 minute walk. On our street there are huge old beautiful trees that create a shade over Esplanade. It's freshly paved and well maintained so biking is a breeze. The people are charming and interesting. And it's very close to my other favorite neighborhoods… the Marigny and the Bywater.
Biking is my transportation means of choice! And we will have two bikes available for you to use. Please note that there will be tools and an air pump so you can make adjustments for comfort accordingly!
If you have a car, my place is located right by I-10, so it's very convenient with minimal traffic. We're a fifteen minute walk to the French Quarter. Much of the best food and drink within super close reach (10-15 minutes).
Other Things to Note
I am speedy to respond, and welcome last minute bookings, as well as am flexible about key drop offs and check in/out times, but please make sure your profile has a bunch of photos and verifications so I get a good sense of who will be coming to stay. I welcome new users to airbnb as long as I can sort of tell who you are.
This space is best for independent-minded travelers looking for a comfortable, clean, and quiet place to stay. The space is very private and relaxing. There is an amazing breakfast cafe which is a ten minute walk, and the Quarter is also a 10-15 minutes walk, but please note that breakfast is not provided unless a special request is made in advance. Also a cat lives here, she is quite sweet and loving but please note this if you have allergies.
We have a cat so if you have allergies, it may not be for you! We do also clean thoroughly and frequently though.
The apartment is cozy so please, no extra visitors beyond two. Please don't sneak anyone in, the apartment is compact and we'll figure it out and that's not nice for anyone involved. We like to keep it quiet and comfortable for everyone here.
No smoking indoors. Please be mindful of locking the front doors when exiting. And please, as Rick James would say, "ENJOY yourself!"
Great trip. Fun city. Relaxing place to stay! The space is quiet, clean, and had everything we needed. Although we never crossed paths with Jane (we were pretty busy w things to do!), she was available via text and made us feel at home. Only downside was the distance from the apartment to the French quarter! Seems close via a map; however, it was farther than we expected. It was raining quite a lot during our stay, so walking was not ideal. Other than that, no complaints! Would definitely stay here again!
Jane's house is right on beautiful Esplanade St, giving access to ample street parking, an easy walking or biking route to the FQ and city park, and if you so chose, a bus line a block away. This space seems to be newly renovated, with a completely private full bathroom, closets, and two writing desks. Jane was a very kind and gracious host- so sweet and bubbly! She made us feel right at home, giving us access to her fridge and washer and dryer, and some awesome bikes! She also owns Arrow Cafe, an eclectic coffee and bike shop on the edge of the FQ.
Jane seems to be very busy, so we didn't see much of her after checking in, but her feline friend was more than happy to give extra company! Such a sweet little cat!
This was a great place to rest our heads at night, and I highly recommend to anyone!
So me and my girlfriend stayed at Jane's apartment for an extended weekend and when I say it was way more than what I expected. It was!' The house was super cozy, and we loved Baby Keet, the house cat. The apartment is 10 minute walking distance to the French Quarter and all around the house was very neat and clean. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who's staying in New Orleans .. Jane was a great host, Thanks Jane.
Jane's apartment is very close to the photos. (The bedroom rugs are gone, and the room now has a useful large table & hanging rack for clothes). The room and bathroom were clean, and it provided a comfortable space for us during our stay in New Orleans. (Though I will note that the windows don't open, which we would have liked, but the apartment does have AC.) The room came with bikes, which was great! They are old bikes, but they suited our needs. As newbies to New Orleans, we used them to toodle around the nearby area. The apartment is in a great location! There is a cluster of restaurants, coffee shops and a grocery less than a 5 minute bike ride up the street, and the French Quarter and Frenchman St. are 5 minutes in the other direction. The gorgeous City Park with the N.O. art museum is also just a short, pleasant, bike ride away. Jane was very friendly and easy to communicate with, never more than a text message away. We enjoyed our stay here.
The room was fantastic, clean and everything we wanted. We were only there to sleep since the city is super-fun. The bikes worked out great as well and it's only a short trip to the French Quarter.
The best part about the room: Keet the sweet kitten. Keet was the kindest, cuddliest, little meower I've come across. As soon as we arrived, Keet was there to greet us and was ready to play. Miss you Keet!
Jane received us warmly in her clean apartment. She made everything available robust, including control of the thermostat/temperature! Friendly kitty, use of bikes, we're both bonuses. Jane was virtually never around so we had the run of the places, yet she promptly responded to messages asking about good local restaurants and music venues.
Originally from California and Oregon, lived in New York for almost ten years, currently located in New Orleans. Love to travel to different cities and find a great cup of coffee, wander through neighborhoods, people-watch and eat everything along the way...
