Large studio apartment with kitchen. Beautiful outdoor semi covered patio. Walking distance to Silver Lake's Sunset Junction.
This is a first floor apartment in a duplex. The structure is a modern craftsman house, rebuilt in 2005. Everything is new.
The space is very private. Used to be a one bedroom apartment, but we opened it up into a very large single.
Brand new California King size bed, full kitchen, gas cook-top, microwave, walk in closet, 3/4 bath with modern Kohler fixtures and corner shower. This apartment has it's own laundry washing machine and dryer.
There is also a huge partially covered outdoor patio overlooking the back yard. Lots of trees, nature, etc., and your own private parking on the back of the property, with your own private entrance.
This house is only two blocks from the famous Sunset Junction area of Silver Lake, where Sunset Blvd. meets Santa Monica Blvd. The area is very safe and lots of cool people live in this part of LA. Walk down and mingle with LA's community of musicians, film producers, writers, and other entertainment people. Sunset Junction has some of the best restaurants, bars, and cafe's in Silver Lake. Cafe Stella, Intelligentsia, Black Cat, Cliffs, to name a few.
If you want to visit Hollywood or Downtown LA, you can easily catch a bus going east or west on Sunset Blvd. Hollywood, Downtown, and China Town are both very short rides away. There is also the new subway that will very quickly take you to Hollywood, Universal Studios, or Downtown LA in less than 5 minutes. It's about a 1/2 mile from the house. I usually walk to the Subway, but you can certainly take the bus to the subway if you want.
Pricing varies pending on the night (weekend nights are more) and there is a fee for extra guests. Once you enter your dates and correct number of guests, Airbnb will give you an exact quote!
Guests have full access to everything in the apartment. It is completely private and autonomous, and no part of the space is shared with other guests.
Interaction with Guests
I usually don't see much of guests who stay in the apartment, however they're always welcome to come upstairs to say hello, or join for a cocktail if people are gathering before heading out for an evening. Sometimes I need to move a guests car, because the parking is tandem (front to back), but it's very rare.
The Sunset Junction area of Silver Lake is the hottest place in Los Angeles, and even mentioned by Forbes Magazine as being the number 1 spot in the United States for trend setting.
Buses are just two blocks away, and there is a subway stop for the Red Line, less than a half a mile away.
Other Things to Note
The street directly behind my house is Sanborn. No parking permit is required for that block of Sanborn.
(note that there is street sweeping on one side of the street on Wednesday and the opposite side of Friday, from 12noon till 2pm, so check the signs.)
If you're not able to find parking on Sanborn, you can park on my property.
If you check your g-maps, located between 967 and 961 Sanborn, there is an alley.
Pull straight into the alley and you will see at the end, an 8 foot tall, wood fence.
Pull up to the fence and into the right hand corner, close and tight so that if I need and can park another car on the left side there is room.
If there is already a car there, park next to the other car, close enough so that you don't block the driveway on the left. (white iron gates)
In the right corner is a pedestrian gate which will be unlocked. Go inside and lock the gate behind you.
The apartment is the first floor of the house. Walk up the few steps and make your self at home.
Keys and information are on the counter. If you need any help with anything, just call or text me. (I"m up on the top floor)
Not really any official 'rules' here. Since it's a totally private apartment, you can pretty much do what ever you want, but I always asked guests to just use common sense. Especially if guests either want quiet, or are wanting to stay up late partying. Just touch base with me and let me know if you have specific needs. It works best to play it by ear.
Chris was a wonderful host and made us feel welcomed as guests. The space was exactly as described and the photos are accurate. Really great space and hope to stay here again soon!
Chris was very responsive and accommodating. The room was as described and the pictures were accurate. Great stay!
Chris is so supportive and enthusiastic to help us settle down and introduce the nearby intesting places. Lovely place and I would definitely come back if in the same area again.Close to everything. Awesome!
Chris made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. He helped us get situated and let us know he was always available to answer any questions by text or phone. The location was perfect for our needs. It is a short walk to restaurants and coffee shops on Sunset Blvd. The deck was a quiet, relaxing spot to sit and read. The refrigerator was stocked with juice, bagels and cream cheese and a few other breakfast items and coffee and tea were provided. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was clean and quiet. We hope to stay here again when we come to LA to visit our son.
I am a city planner and wanted to explore the Silver Lake-Echo Park neighborhoods. Chris's spacious studio provided the perfect home base. He is knowledgeable and friendly and the location is perfect: very quiet and relaxing while immediately accessible to the local establishments. The private patio was where I spent most of my time reading and planning my outings. The kitchen is well equipped, too. I checked out quite a few places before selecting Chris's and was delighted with my choice.
Chris was great -- house was great -- location is great. Nothing more to say besides that.

I grew up in the New York suburbs and north east New England. I wound up living in New York City for a few years, and eventually moved to California about 22 years ago. I've been living in the Silver Lake and Los Feliz area ever since, and I run the BNB with my partner Frank.
I embrace the 'LA' lifestyle, in that I try to be easy going and flexible, and do take advantage of the local delights. (Mountains, deserts, and the Pacific Ocean.) When I'm traveling, sometimes I'm looking for a peaceful natural retreat, other times looking for a fun city that stays open late.
It's amazing how many interesting and really cool people I've met through airbnb.com and I'm very happy I can be a host and will continue to do so.
