About this listing
Large studio apartment with kitchen, and a California King size bed. Beautiful outdoor semi covered patio. Walking distance to Silver Lake's Sunset Junction.
This is a first floor apartment in a duplex. The structure is a modern craftsman house, rebuilt in 2005. Everything is new.
The space is very private. Used to be a one bedroom apartment, but we opened it up into a large studio. Very private and features off street parking.
Brand new California King size bed, full kitchen, gas cook-top, microwave, walk in closet, 3/4 bath with modern Kohler fixtures and corner shower. This apartment has it's own laundry washing machine and dryer.
There is also a huge partially covered outdoor patio overlooking the back yard. Lots of trees, nature, etc., and your own private parking on the back of the property, with your own private entrance. The house has central heat/air conditioning and I set the thermostat between 70 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit (21-25 Celsius) depending on the weather.
Guests have full access to everything in the apartment. It is completely private and autonomous, and no part of the space is shared with other guests.
Interaction with Guests
I usually don't see much of guests who stay in the apartment, however they're always welcome to come upstairs to say hello, or join for a cocktail if people are gathering before heading out for an evening. Sometimes I need to move a guests car, because the parking is tandem (front to back), but it's very rare.
We are walking distance from the Sunset Junction that features such destinations as Cafe Intelligentsia, Stella, Bulan Vegan Thai, Cafe Flore, Nature Well, 4100 bar, the LA Eagle. Akbar, El Cid, Cliffs Edge. Every Saturday and Wednesday, there is the farmers market, also walking distance.
To get to my house:
25 minutes from LAX with light traffic.
50 minutes from LAX with heavy traffic.
There are also shuttles available (Prime Time and Supershuttle)
There is also the 'Fly Away Bus' that takes you to Union Station Downtown, then you can take Uber or Taxi to get to my house. (5-7 minutes).
In my neighborhood you can take the city bus anywhere. There is also a subway stop for the Red Line, less than a half a mile away that will take you to Hollywood and Universal Studios, or downtown LA, where you can transfer to other trains. You can download an app called 'GoMetro' for more information. I advise guests to use (website hidden) Maps and click on 'transit' to see what public transportation options are available.
Other Things to Note
The street directly behind my house is Sanborn. No parking permit is required for that block of Sanborn.
(note that there is street sweeping on one side of the street on Wednesday and the opposite side of Friday, from 12noon till 2pm, so check the signs.)
If you're not able to find parking on Sanborn, you can park on my property.
If you check your g-maps, located between 967 and 961 Sanborn, there is an alley.
Pull straight into the alley and you will see at the end, an 8 foot tall, wood fence.
Pull up to the fence and into the right hand corner, close and tight so that if I need and can park another car on the left side there is room.
If there is already a car there, park next to the other car, close enough so that you don't block the driveway on the left. (white iron gates)
In the right corner is a pedestrian gate which will be unlocked. Go inside and lock the gate behind you.
The apartment is the first floor of the house. Walk up the few steps and make your self at home.
Keys and information are on the counter. If you need any help with anything, just call or text me. (I"m up on the top floor)
Not really any official 'rules' here. Since it's a totally private apartment, you can pretty much do what ever you want, but I always asked guests to just use common sense. Especially if guests either want quiet, or are wanting to stay up late partying. Just touch base with me and let me know if you have specific needs. It works best to play it by ear.
Smoking is allowed outside only. Thank you!
Chris was a great host, the apartment was clean, nicely furnished and had all the necessities we needed. Chris even provided milk, coffee and bagels for breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

The area is very quiet.
It was quite warm during our stay in August and we needed to use a fan at night , other than that our stay was perfect!
The host was very accommodating and friendly!
The place was absolutely perfect, especially the outdoor patio area. Very close to sunset junction which is filled with all cafes, restaurants and bars. Chris was a great host, very accommodating and helpful. Definitely stay again.
We were in LA for a very short two-day visit. Chris' place is clean, comfortable, spacious, perfect. Chris is very nice and was really helpful. The location can't be beat. Easy access to everything you want in LA. The Silver Lake area is great. We will book with Chris again and will definitely stay here for future trips to LA.
I've stayed at Chris's place multiple times. Great host, clean home, excellent location. I keep coming back!
Chris is a great host and his place is simply gorgeous: super clean, great design, very very comfortable. It's my second time here and I know that every time I need a place in Los Angeles Chris will always be my first choice!
The place was just as advertised, and very well set up. Everything you could possibly need for either a short or extended stay. The location is ideal, and is walking distance to all that Silverlake has to offer. The outdoor area was incredibly comfortable as well. Excellent place.

About the Host, Chris
40 something, video/graphics producer and editor.
I grew up in the New York suburbs and north east New England. I wound up living in New York City for a few years, and eventually moved to California about 22 years ago. I've been living in the Silver Lake and Los Feliz area ever since, and I run the BNB with my partner Frank.
I embrace the 'LA' lifestyle, in that I try to be easy going and flexible, and do take advantage of the local delights. (Mountains, deserts, and the Pacific Ocean.) When I'm traveling, sometimes I'm looking for a peaceful natural retreat, other times looking for a fun city that stays open late.
It's amazing how many interesting and really cool people I've met through airbnb.com and I'm very happy I can be a host and will continue to do so.
