Interaction with Guests
We are a hip international married couple, Eric from New York, Surya from Indonesia, and we are friendly and used to hosting international guests. However, we want our guest to be independent and to respect our privacy too, as we will theirs.
Echo Park is one of the most interesting, historical, and community-oriented neighborhoods in LA. Formerly home to artists, musicians, politicos, & Latinos, the "hood" is quickly gentrifying, spawning music clubs, restaurants, cafes, hip shopping stores, etc. etc.
We live on a steep hill (hence the great views), but you NEED a car.
Other Things to Note
2 day minimum, please.
We want our guest to be quiet, independent, clean/neat, trustworthy, mature, & sympatico. Non-smoker preferred (no smoking in house) & no pets. Long term, we are looking more for a "boarder/guest" than a "roommate". No overnight guests.
You can have a portion of our frig and pantry. Towels & sheets provided.
Don't worry, we're welcoming and friendly.
Eric & Surya were great hosts, welcoming and inviting.
The room was just as advertised; as was the view! I had a great stay with them & their dog,Cassius. I would recommend it to anyone.
What can i say, my stay was extremely special. Eric and Surya are extremely interesting folks... They are extremely welcoming. Their home is gorgeous. The view of echo park from the back porch is astounding. The bed and room they provide is comfortable and homey. I really had the feeling that i lucked out with this stay by their company alone. When considering the whole package, this stay is under priced, and priceless. I now have two new friends in LA! Thanks Eric and Surya!!
I liked staying with Eric and Surya. The house is clean, views and energy beautiful, and both of them welcoming hosts. I felt like I was at a home away from home and at the same time felt like I was at a vacation spot. I enjoyed the hot tub one night overlooking the lights of Los Angeles as well as a couple morning breakfasts on the porch overlooking the beauty of the city by day.
I had a great time. Wonderful room, very comfortable bed, wonderful house, fantastic hosts... Amazing view.
I look forward to visiting E & S as a friend now that I am living in LA. Very cultured couple.
Very friendly and welcoming people. Nice big room. Beautiful house. I was only there for one night but was made to feel comfortable.
Only downside was that we didn't clarify the check-out time in advance, and it became a rush for me when I found out only that morning that it was to be strictly an 11am exit. (After having been held up swapping hire cars, upon returning to the house I was asked to leave before I'd had time to take a shower.) So please discuss check-out time at the beginning to avoid these inconveniences. Then everything should be fine.
Finally, I should mention that they're right when they say you will need a car or similar to get there and back. The hill is monumental.
Overall, I would recommend staying there. Just make sure the terms are well communicated.
Eric and Surya are exceptional hosts! They made us feel very welcome in their beautiful Echo Park house. The room in which we stayed was lovely, and full of artsy decorations. Eric and Surya are a fun and easygoing couple, we absolutely recommend staying at their house.
