About this listing
Our historic 17th century canal house offers you a wonderful taste of authentic canal-side living in the city center of Amsterdam. Thanks to its original details and central location this apartment is the perfect base for your stay.
The house is a cosy and welcoming mix of Dutch design, art and vintage. The shared kitchen and dining room are on the ground floor. The first floor is private living space. The bedroom is on the second floor, and has a high quality comfortable double bed, an extra double bed under the rafters and an open plan bathroom with bath. A baby cot and high chair are available on request.
The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with everything you need to prepare a nice meal. The beds are very comfortable and soft pillows and duvets, fresh bed linen and fluffy towels are provided. The bathroom features everything you’ll need during your stay, including a hairdryer, shampoo, soap, cotton pads, iron etc. We also provide free wireless internet, a flatscreen TV with international channels, books and guides about Amsterdam.
The house is situated in a quiet part of the historic center; Jordaan quarter in the city center. The Jordaan is famous for its eclectic collection of shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Maze-like streets offer hidden courtyards, great restaurants and cafés (both traditional and trendy) and art galleries. There are also a host of wonderful markets to visit - in particular the Noordermarkt flea market on Monday mornings and the organic farmers' market on Saturdays.
The Brouwersgracht is in the quiet southern area of the Jordaan, with close access to all the highlights Amsterdam has to offer. The best shopping streets, with a host of specialty shops and lunch rooms (Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk), the Anne Frank house, Dam Square, the 9 streets (for some more great shopping) and the Noorder market are within walking distance. The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum, Van Gogh museum, FOAM and Vondel Park are easy accessible by foot, bike or tram, which stops close by on the Haarlemmerplein.
If cycling is your thing, then we have bikes for you – a great way to get an inside view of the city! We’ll gladly inform you about the possibilities. The best park in Amsterdam (Wester park) is also within walking distance. Here you can enjoy events like De Rollende Keukens (for the foodies amongst you), concerts, movies or just chill and have a coffee or a drink. Check out our Airbnb guide for more insider tips about Amsterdam!
As manager of one of the most famous 'brown cafes' in the Jordaan and owner of a catering service with a passion for food and design, we can give you the best tips for eating, drinking and shopping in and around Amsterdam. We can also provide you with plenty maps and guides, including biking tours.
From Schiphol Airport, taxis and trains take you into the centre of Amsterdam in 15 minutes. The house is only a short ten minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. When you get out of Central Station, turn right into Jordaan and follow the Brouwersgracht until you get to the house. You can also take the Haarlemmerstraat, turn left at the Coffee Company, cross the bridge and you will see number 141.
For local transport, bus 18, 21 and 22 stop close by and the tram stops at the nearby Haarlemmerplein to take you across the city. Cheap parking is available at P+R Sloterdijk.

We enjoyed our time in the small black house very mutch. It was great, clean and comfortable. Martine was very nice and took care of us.
The neighborhood is very beautiful, lots of great pubs and restaurants close by, but the house is quiet and we felt always safe. We had a great time in Amsterdam and would definitely come back! Many Thanks
Location, location, location!
WOW. What a perfect spot to kick off our three weeks in Europe! We had the most fantastic stay at the canal house- we will be back again soon! Thank you so much!
A very good place! We will be back !
The house is lovely, and we had a wonderful time.
The place is beautiful, well located and very confortable.
Everything were exactly as described at AirBnb, and Martine helped a lot, there is a manual to the house that make it very easy to use the facilities and to take care of the place.
We hope to come back and stay at this charming house again.

Fantastic location! We loved the neighborhood, and it was a great jumping off point for our trips around Amsterdam. Martine has done a great job to provide a welcoming and comfortable place to stay.
Great location! The tastefully decorated house is situated right next to the canal in the quieter part of Jordaan. We enjoyed our last stop in Europe very much.
What a lovely experience of real amsterdam. This absolutely spotless home is a model of efficiency and truly in the heart of a very desirable area for tourists. My guest and I arrived at different times and the neighbors all worked to make sure we found the manager to get in safely. The home is really well equipped. Good sized refrigerator, luxury coffee system, gas cook top and microwave. Everything that you need to cook and entertain. The home sleeps at least five and is right on a canal. You will watch as people stand on the bridge and snap photos right in front of the house. Great shopping and dining in the area. Cannot say enough good things. The sleeping nook above master was just so zen. The tub and sink in the bedroom were so different and lovely at the same time. Lots of good clean hot water and towels and comfy clean bedding and pillows. Really couldn't ask for more will return.

About the Host, Martine
I run a small catering company called Martine's Keuken, love delicious and healthy foods, design and all things beautiful. In addition, I facilitate homeowners who want to rent their house to interesting travellers from all over the world. I love living and working in the Jordaan, the most beautiful and historic part of Amsterdam and I love to share a bit of the Amsterdam way of life with you.
When I'm not cooking (or reading cookbooks) I love to travel, especially to sunny countries or inspiring cities, do some yoga and go to the movies.
When traveling I am always looking for the perfect place to have coffee, lunch, drinks or dinner - preferably a bit of the beaten track. And that is exactly what I will offer you when you stay with me :)
