Interaction with Guests
I will meet you at the apartment, handle the keys and show you around. During your stay you can always call or text me if you need any assistance or tips.
The house is situated in a quiet part of the historic center; Jordaan quarter in the city center. The Jordaan is famous for its eclectic collection of shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Maze-like streets offer hidden courtyards, great restaurants and cafés (both traditional and trendy) and art galleries. There are also a host of wonderful markets to visit - in particular the Noordermarkt flea market on Monday mornings and the organic farmers' market on Saturdays.
The Brouwersgracht is in the quiet southern area of the Jordaan, with close access to all the highlights Amsterdam has to offer. The best shopping streets, with a host of specialty shops and lunch rooms (Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk), the Anne Frank house, Dam Square, the 9 streets (for some more great shopping) and the Noorder market are within walking distance. The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum, Van Gogh museum, FOAM and Vondel Park are easy accessible by foot, bike or tram, which stops close by on the Haarlemmerplein.
If cycling is your thing, then we have bikes for you – a great way to get an inside view of the city! We’ll gladly inform you about the possibilities. The best park in Amsterdam (Wester park) is also within walking distance. Here you can enjoy events like De Rollende Keukens (for the foodies amongst you), concerts, movies or just chill and have a coffee or a drink. Check out our Airbnb guide for more insider tips about Amsterdam!
As manager of one of the most famous 'brown cafes' in the Jordaan and owner of a catering service with a passion for food and design, we can give you the best tips for eating, drinking and shopping in and around Amsterdam. We can also provide you with plenty maps and guides, including biking tours.
From Schiphol Airport, taxis and trains take you into the centre of Amsterdam in 15 minutes. The house is only a short ten minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. When you get out of Central Station, turn right into Jordaan and follow the Brouwersgracht until you get to the house. You can also take the Haarlemmerstraat, turn left at the Coffee Company, cross the bridge and you will see number 141.
For local transport, bus 18, 21 and 22 stop close by and the tram stops at the nearby Haarlemmerplein to take you across the city. Cheap parking is available at P+R Sloterdijk.
We also provide two brand new bikes to explore the city in a typical Dutch manner.
Other Things to Note
Our apartment is perfect for couples and families. The apartment has 1 bedroom with a double bed and an extra mattress under the rafters. In the living room there is a sofa bed. Please note that the bedroom has an open space bathroom and that the stairs are -as in all old Amsterdam houses- rather steep.
Due to hygiene standards bringing pets and smoking (or using drugs) is not allowed in the house.
Very nice welcome, perfect location. The house is very cosy and perfectly arranged. The stay was totally worth it!
Wonderful stay in charming canal side house, just as described with informative and delightful host. The architecture of the house and the location are top notch.
I travelled to Amsterdam for a long weekend with my small family (children aged 2yrs & 6months). We walked to the house from the train station, the area is really beautiful and is now definitely my favourite area of the city.
The house is beautiful and the use of space is amazing, from the mezzanine level kitchen to a hidden bathroom cabinet and sleeping under the roof.
Martine met us upon arrival and showed us everything and answered any questions.
We really enjoyed staying in the apartment and the heated floors were great, especially after coming in from the snow outside.
We enjoyed the canal house immensely. The view, the interior, the seating space just in from the street, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, and the location in the Jordaan area. We have already recommended it to other travelers, and will definitely stay there again if it's avaliable on our next visit. Martine was enthusiastic and helpful, and had also made a useful booklet about things to do and places to eat in the area. We made good use of the typical dutch bikes that we could rent at the house. With the house and bikes we spent a unique few days in Amsterdam:)
We had a wonderful time in Martine's lovely canal house - highly recommended. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend to friends.
This house is absolutely beautiful. The amenities supplied within the house were supremely comfortable, the homely touches fantastic (especially the coffee). My friend and I stayed at Martine's at the beginning of January, the weather outside may have been cold but the house stayed warm and cosy throughout our stay. Martine herself couldn't have been more helpful with supplying tips about Amsterdam itself and was our saviour when we accidentally locked ourselves out on a Sunday morning - she was quick to respond to our cries of help and set us up with a locksmith in no time at all. Thank you Martine!
We had an amazing time staying at Martine's home. She welcome us on arrival and explained everything we needed to know. The house is beautiful, so homely, warm, well decorated and with a great ambiance. Having use of the bikes was great. It's a fantastic way to explore the city. The restaurants and cafés recommended were all amazing. The house is very well located close to shops, cafés and eateries! We loved our time in Amsterdam and look forward to returning one day soon. We highly recommend staying at Martine's house.

I run a small catering company called Martine's Keuken, love delicious and healthy foods, design and all things beautiful. I love living and working in the Jordaan, the most beautiful and historic part of Amsterdam and I love to share a bit of the Amsterdam way of life with you.
When I'm not cooking (or reading cookbooks) I love to travel, especially to sunny countries or inspiring cities, do some yoga and go to the movies.
When traveling I am always looking for the perfect place to have coffee, lunch, drinks or dinner - prefereably a bit of the beaten track. And that is exactly what I will offer you when you stay at my place :)
