Where relaxation amidst a peaceful and safe environment, surrounded by the most exotic species of flora and fauna in the tropics, is a reality. In addition, you will be close to most of the tourist attractions in the area.
We had a best time in Monteverde. Felix was a great host. He gave us superior property on a ranch due to the temporary rain damage on the original one, but I am sure we would enjoy it too. Felix and his son gave us an extensive list with addresses and prices (more like a map) of all the activities in the area, so was very easy to choose from. There is so much to do here! And we loved that we came in a rainy season, so all the tours we had was private. The afternoon/evening rain was not an obstacle at all. There are a lot of great souvenir shops and restaurants around. The town is small, but you have to drive few minutes to the center. So the location is not that important here.
There is a long unpaved mountain road to Monteverde, however we didn’t need 4x4 car to get here or anywhere in Costa Rica, compact car was OK, even though rental company said that we have to rent it if we are going to the mountains.
It was easy to find Felix, however I recommend always to print directions before your trip, since there are no addresses in Costa Rica and sometimes there is no reception, GPS may lose signal too.
