Staci was a lovely and gracious host. The house was spotless and super toasty when we arrived. The house was very roomy and had plenty of seating space both in the living room and dining room. The kitchen was stocked with appliances, cookware, plates/bowls, silverware, etc as well as some spices in the cabinet. The house was also fully stocked with cleaning supplies, towels, sheets, etc. If we ever needed anything Staci always answered the phone and was there to help us with whatever we needed (she even brought us all purpose flour one night). She had informed us ahead of time that the internet was still waiting to be hooked up. I am so surprised by the one negative review she has up because that was clearly and gross exaggeration of a minor fly problem. There were a few house flies...they were a NON issue. Another wonderful thing about being on a farm is that right next door you get to see all the lambs, sheep, shetland ponies and miniature donkeys off of the sunporch when you have your morning coffee/tea. We were there go to skiing at Sugarbush which was about a 45 minute drive or about an hour in super snowy/icy conditions. I would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a lovely and relaxing vermont getaway.
The location of the house was very nice. It was close enough to town to run in for coffee in the morning but still a beautiful farm home. Just outside the house are many different animals. Lama's, pony's, sheep and a lot of cows across the street. This was fine with everyone in my party and we enjoyed watching the animals over breakfast. There were a lot of dogs in the area but none would come up to be pet. The porch was a complete wrap around which was awesome.
Inside the house was a different story. The 3.5 baths is actually just baths. There is one shower, the next room has a jacuzzi tub (no sink or toilet), it immediately goes to a third bathroom that is a toilet, sink and tub that is too rusted to use. The house does sleep a lot of people 8 or so but you all have to share that one shower And since he bathrooms connect directly to each other you can't use the jacuzzi tub while people are using the other two bathrooms. This was a big impact on our trip, it took way too much time to shower in shifts when we expected to be able to have 3 working bathrooms.
On to the flies! The second and very disturbing issue with the house. There were live horse flies everywhere, each room had at least 15 flies in the lights that were alive and would fly out if you turned on the vents in the bathroom. The window seals were covered with dead flies, there were many smears on the walls. This means that the house wasn't cleaned before we got there. To make it worse the flies were not the only issue.
The kitchen and bathrooms were covered in mouse droppings. The dish drainer alone had at least 10 pieces. We came expecting to cook a quick dinner and ended up having to go back to town and get food. There was just too much to clean. On first glance everything looked fine, it was only when you tried to use things that you would notice the filth. There was some kind of glue smeared on the wall above the kitchen. We managed to stay there one night, maybe a total of ten hours in the house. I will not stay there again because of the mice and flies. The amount is really a health concern.
