About this listing
Welcome to Mountain View, and your private bedroom and private bath, in a relaxing, friendly home away from home. Pet love included.
Hello from Lisa and Laura. Welcome to Mountain View, whether you are visiting G@@gle or other nearby tech companies (one block to a few miles away), the San Francisco Peninsula or Santa Cruz mountains and beach. We are less than a mile from the Light Rail and less than two miles to CalTrain. Downtown Mountain View with its wonderful restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities, is an easy two miles away. The Stevens Creek bike path, public tennis courts and a local park are one block away. Our home is 3 bedroom, 2 bath including a gas fireplace, large outdoor deck and yard with gardens.
We are a 50 something lesbian couple, sharing our home with 3 dogs (2 of them small) and 2 cats so obviously, you must love animals and not be allergic, although we keep the home very clean. You will have your own second floor guest room and bathroom with no one else on the floor. There is an office and TV room adjacent that you are welcome to use. The master suite is on the third floor and the the living room and kitchen and outdoor space is on the main floor. You have full access to the lovely outside deck and the sounds of a large fountain.
We are happy and healthy people who don't do drugs or drink much. The house is drug and smoke free, including outdoor areas, but feel free to have your own cocktails. We hope to say hello in the home and be great hosts but offer you privacy as you need. We are in a residential neighborhood, near parks and bike paths.
Second floor private bedroom and bathroom; second floor TV room and desk (room shared with cats who are often there on their cat climber); Kitchen and Dining room shared with Laura and Lisa; Outdoor patio and deck.
Lisa and Laura are friendly and social but Laura is working full time job. Lisa likes to help guests make sure they know their way around the home, the town and the area. We like to respect the guests' need for space and privacy but are open to nice connection and talking time.
Bike trail to SF Bay and surrounding area starts at the driveway; Redwood trees surround the property; Close to high tech industry standard companies.
Walking and bike trails surround; Bus route at end of block; Light rail around San Jose and Silicon Valley a mile away; Cal-Train to SF 2 miles away.
We try to be helpful hosts. Please ask if you need a ride or help with something and we can see if we can do it. Flying into San Jose airport is only 15 minutes away and the easiest to come and go.
Private room, private bathroom, shared office with printer for boarding pass, cable TV, shared use of outdoor patio and living room.
Interaction with Guests
It depends on guests' interest, length of stay and schedule. We are busy people who respect others time but are friendly to connect in our home over light conversation and to make all feel comfortable and at home.
There is a bike path to Mountain View, downtown, South SF bay shoreline and many tech companies, including G@@gle's Quad campus a block away. There is a good burrito spot, deli, and coffee cafe 3 blocks away and we're one mile from downtown. We are in a fine neighborhood of homes, condos, apartments, people, children and animals.
There is a light rail a half mile away and the Cal Train a mile away. We are available for easy and local transport if we are around, especially to or from San Jose airport, a 15 minute drive.
Other Things to Note
We are close to San Jose airport if your travels can fly you there rather than SFO.
Use of second bedroom/office can be used for printer, TV watching, office - to be shared with cats. Washer and dryer use available for fee or with 5 nights stay or more. 10 pm is quiet time in the house and while we're up early, we are quiet and respectful of your timing. Good, open and honest communication work best for us. We will respect your space, privacy and belongings and trust you to do the same. No smoking in or around the premises. No drug use.
They were GREAT! Very friendly, beautiful place, private bathroom was nice and had everything I needed.
When I had some last minute schedule hiccups they were very accomodating about getting me my key. They were even kind enough to drop me off down the road in the morning so I wouldn't have to walk.
Bed was tempur-pedic and I slept like a log. Would love to go back!
Wonderful, comfortable space. I loved the bed and slept through the night, which is rare for me! The dogs are cute and friendly. I did hear them around 6am, not barking but running around, eager to go out or be fed or something. No different than my own house but if little background noises bother you then maybe this is not the best place. Laura and Lisa were friendly and interesting and comfortable to be around. The deck and back yard are peaceful, with water noise from a fountain and a comfy seating area. I loved my long walk on the bike path and being only a mile from downtown Mountain View. Bought new earrings at East-West Bookstore; had dinner at a little Italian place within walking distance. A perfect overnight vacation for me!
Lisa and Laura were great hosts! They made me feel very welcome and were very helpful getting me situated after an last-minute international flight. The location is great, the room is very comfortable, and the pets are quite well-behaved. Thanks, Lisa and Laura!
Lisa and Laura were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. I appreciated the much needed coffee in the morning and Lisa made some delicious baked goods.
I will gladly stay again with Lisa & Laura. Not only enjoyed meeting them but the bedroom and bath were very comfortable and in a great area.
Lisa and Laura had everything sorted out for my arrival, but sadly were called away for some urgent personal work at the last moment. They made sure I felt welcome and ensured I was provided the required details of the stay. The room in itself was great. It was provided with enough space for storage through drawers. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is away from street, as it is at the far end of a private driveway. It is also a 30 min walking distance to the Caltrain station and Castro street. Lisa and Laura were super kind to lend a bike which was amazing experience (highly recommended)! I sadly couldn't have much interaction with the hosts, but they were kind enough to help me with anything necessary.
Lisa and Laura were great! I was really busy on this trip, and I was grateful they accommodated me so well. Their house was very beautiful, but a little hot. I wish they had air conditioning (of note, I do tend to keep my own house very cold, so this may not matter to most).
