About this listing
Cozy 1 room garden guest cottage. Just 2 min. from endless groomed ski trails around the fjord, bike and hiking trails. Short distance from ski lifts. Very cute little cottage with a large covered veranda. Situated in the midst of a beautiful garden and surrounded by nature. Very private yet very accessible; Only a 10 minute walk to town. Walking distance from train station, shopping, restaurants, nightlife. The cottage features a double bed, a small sofa sleeper that could accomodate a child, kitchen area, wonderful view, internet, bikes available. Child friendly. (My 7 year old will gladly share his toys!) There is a chemical toilet, and an attached private HOT water outdoor shower with rainforest shower head. We often find ourselves preferring to take a glorious hot shower outdoors instead of using the shower indoors, actually! But, arrangements can be made to bathe using the shower in our home as well. I usually have homebaked treats and fluffy white bathrobes to welcome guests here. I've heard many say they much prefer staying here instead of a generic hotel room. Welcome!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vikki's cottage, she made us feel welcomed and looked after us throughout our three day stay. We really valued her willingness to collect us and return us to the train station, the food hamper, including salt, garlic and olive oil.
The cottage is small, warm and cosy, filled with books and all that is required to make simple home-cooked meals. The outdoor shower was amazing! The location is also wonderful - a 5 minute walk to the lake, a 10 minute cycle to the beach and easy access to lots of hiking paths.
Warm welcoming with home made brownies (yum!!) and food/beverage for breakfast.
The small cottage is really cosy and well decorated. Unfortunatly because of the weather we coudn't enjoy the garden properly :(
Despite of the cold temperture we enjoy the outside shower !!
Thanks Vikky and André for our enjoyable stay
Cute cabin in the woods: we stayed here for three nights. We enjoyed our stay. It was a comfortable and welcoming BnB. Be aware when you are booking that this is a somewhat rustic cabin in close proximity to the hosts house. The cabin has electricity, but be aware that all bathing must be coordinated for times when the host is home and can assist.
The host and her son, Andre, were amazingly hospitable, however the boundaries with the host were a little unclear and some situations felt a little awkward: we shared a great meal with the hosts but seemed to cross the line when we needed laundry facilities.
Vikki and Andre have open hearts and being welcoming seems to come naturally to them. They were helpful with advice and suggestions and eager to chat whenever we liked. We were even greeted with fresh-baked brownies!
It was a fantastic stay at Vikkis place. The cabin is so beautiful and really decorated with love. We had a great time even though the snow was melting this spring so early. Anyway it could not have been better! Thanks again to Vikki and her wonderful family :)
We went to Geilo for the Ice Music Festival in the middle of the winter. We enjoyed our staying although Geilo was freezing cold. The cottage is lovely, clean and cozy, and the location is fantastic. Vikki and her family are very friendly and we strongly recommend to stay at their place if you are in Geilo!
Our stay in Vikki's was absolutely great. Vikki and Andre are the nicest people we ever met! The house is so cosy that we were so sad that we had to leave after one night only. We can't wait to come back to Geilo and spend more time with Vikki and Andre
I have to say, staying with Vikki and her son Andre was truly the highlight of our Norwegian adventure. Not that everyone should expect this, but Vikki was kind enough to pick us up at the train station - even coming back twice when it turned out our train was late! She got us settled into the adorable cabin (where fresh-baked brownies were waiting for us!), and then showed us the bikes that she let us borrow for exploring the town (which is great, by the way - do try to find the canoe rental for the lake and you won't be disappointed!).
That evening, Vikki helped me with bandages (slight bike mishap) and Andre charmed us with his tales of a visiting fox. We also had a visiting friendly neighborhood kitty who seems to have adopted Andre as well. The next morning we were treated to the outdoor garden shower, and then Vikki drove us back to the station to conclude our all-too-short visit to Geilo. We can *highly* recommend staying with Vikki - and we truly hope to go back!!
