We had a great stay. Perfect location for our stay and walkable to great food, buses and stroll down to the beach. The breakfast was a perfect way to start each morning. We would definitely recommend!

This unit, 7 downstairs, was one in a small complex of condos called Villas Nicolas. The building are terraced down the hill and nestled into the surrounding terrain. The complex has a pool and a hot tub -- the hot tub wasn't working when we were there, but that was okay because the weather was rather warm and humid in any case. I believe that most of the units are individually owned, but rented out when their owners aren't in residence. There is an office staff for check-in and out and to book tours, answer questions, and take care of repairs during the day. The office is closed after 8. They were very attentive to a couple of small repair issues we had when we were there. Breakfast is provided -- either Tico style with fruit, eggs, rice, and beans, or you can have pancakes if you prefer. The decor in the unit is lovely and it was quite spacious. It was the least expensive class -- other units with balconies and an additional room are pricier. The location is fabulous -- it's right on the main drag, walking distance to restaurants, a bank, a small market, a pharmacy, and public transportation. Despite its location, it's isolated from street noise (vehicles in Costa Rica can be quite loud) by the design of buildings. We weren't aware of the outside noise once we were inside the complex. It combines the best of hotel and private home accommodations.

Response from Sheryl:
Thank you Jeri for your positive and very detailed review. We do not have a hot tub on the property. The smaller pool is a Jacuzzi only and filters the water from our larger pool. We hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

Sheryl and her team were wonderful and Villas Nicholas provided the perfect spot to explore Manuel Antonio. The room was spacious, the air conditioner was wonderful to have, and despite being off of a major road in peak tourist season, we felt away from it all. Also in terms of price, you can't beat it. We made daily use of the pool and lounge chairs. The included daily breakfast was a great way to kick off the day. As mentioned, the people who run Villas Nicholas were excellent. Immediate responses from them prior to the trip, helpful when it came to local suggestions, calling to make reservations, upkeep of the grounds and the rooms. What a perfect spot for a getaway.

Overall we had a lovely stay at Villas Nicholas last week. Pros -- comfy queen bed, powerful AC, good location on the main road in Manuel Antonio; it's a semi-studio type room with microwave, sink, blender, etc. so you can prepare simple meals. It's also a ~5min walk to probably a dozen restaurants and hot spots like El Avion and La Barba Roja. Cons -- we stayed in the bottom unit (not sure if it's always their AirBNB unit) which did not have much of a view; breakfast was included and the food very good, but the restaurant is small and can get crowded for dinner and thus service was very slow for us. Also had a handful of bugs sneak in somehow which is never ideal.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The grounds were beautifully kept and it was a great place to relax in after a day of exploration. The room was clean and comfortably furnished; the view was great; and we were lucky to see monkeys from the front window. Villa Nicolas is well located too, there are plenty of things to explore on either side of it. The staff was also very helpful in answering our questions and helping us make reservations. I highly recommend this place!

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights at the "Ocean and Jungle View Jewel" and 3 nights at the "Charming Jungle Studio with Views." The “Ocean and Jungle view jewel” feels more like a hotel and the “Charming Jungle Studio with views” feels like a private tree house. Overall, the trip was unforgettable and one of the most amazing times of my life. The two airbnb properties are right next door to each other. There were many wonderful restaurants and bars that I liked within a few minutes walking distance (I will include recommendations at the end). At both properties you can swim in the resort’s swimming pool. If you want an experience of being in a tree house I would HIGHLY recommend the “Charming Jungle Studio with Views,” which happened to be my favorite spot. This place had a magical touch to it, which felt very unique, and unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. The porch is surrounded by rainforest and nature with a faraway view of the beach. I loved to sit on the porch and watch hummingbirds fly around, listen to the sounds of nature and animal watch (bring binoculars). I even had a little kitten visit me on the porch, very sweet and cuddly! The AC was very efficient, but the kitchen had bare essentials like cooking utensils (but no butter, oil, salt) which wasn’t a deal breaker considering the view and surroundings. If you plan on cooking, they have a farmer’s market on Saturdays in Quepos and that is where you can buy the cheaper priced foods. The food at the supermarket is a little expensive, we bought fresh Tuna, alcohol and our groceries at “Super Joseth” because we missed the farmer's market. Our last day in Costa Rica we saw 5-10 monkeys within a few feet of our porch while eating breakfast, it was the most amazing experience. Have your camera ready on the porch and anywhere in Manuel Antonio, there’s lots of magic here!!! The “Ocean and Jungle view” is a nice unit connected to the hotel Villas Nicolas. It has a microwave and refrigerator but no stove. The great part about being on the resort is free breakfast with delicious coffee and they clean your room! I also woke up to a howler monkey outside our room- SUPER COOL. Julio was the a staff member that I can honestly say was approachable, kind and resourceful. Ask him for help and he will deliver. Regardless of where you are staying in, you can always book tours at Villa Nicholas. My favorite tour was the Manuel Antonio National Park guided tour with Henry. He is extremely knowledgeable about the park and can spot the tiniest creature. We were able to see frogs, bats, spiders, sloths, monkeys, butterflies, lizards, iguanas, exotic birds, walking sticks and more on the tour. Bring your bathing suit because you will be able to swim in the National Park’s beautiful beach. Another tour we booked with the hotel was the ATV...
