The Space

Near the city but without the noise, 10 minutes from Avignon and 20 minutes from “Pont du Gard” away, in the heart of Provence the “Lou Souvadou” is a small piece of heaven for those who stay there.

Sauveterre is a charming, provencal village far from the city noise. You stay in an old Provencal farmhouse equipped with all modern conveniences, a beautiful pool and a stunning view over the Rhone Valley, “Mount Ventoux” and the “Dentelles de Montmirail”.

This B&B offers 2 individual rooms with private bathrooms, plus a small room without bathroom for children (wc to share), and also a 4* reception by Françoise and Michel.

You’ll perfectly be situated to visit the vineyards of the Rhone Valley and the famous wineries of Chateauneuf du Pape or Tavel. The summer shows of the “Avignon Festival” and “Orange’s Choregies” are close too. You’ll be able to admire the wonderful sites of the “Baux de Provence”, Saint Rémy de Provence, Arles, Nimes, the Luberon villages, etc… But also to visit the picturesque markets or just relax in the sun besides the pool sipping a cocktail or glass of vine while preparing the itineraries with our hotes.

You’ll have the pleasure of enjoying your copious breakfast while listening to the cicadas in summer and breathing in the exceptional perfumes of the flowers in the garden.

The area is well served by the T.G.V. (in Avignon) or by the airports (Marseille, Nimes, Avignon, Montpellier,…) Of course it helps to have a car (Rental at the airport and train stations).

The only concern with the “Lou Souvadou” is that, when you come one time, it is hard to leave.

  • We loved our 3 night stay with Michel and François. The rooms are beautiful with amazing views from every window and from our bathroom which was attached to our room. We (myself, husband and two daughters aged 8 and 11) loved everything about our stay here and wished we had stayed longer. The gardens, the pool, the incredible views and Michel's delicious breakfasts were all perfect. I highly recommend staying with these lovely French people in their spectacular home. (We also loved their two gorgeous dogs)

  • Hello - My boyfriend and I stayed with Michel and Francoise this past weekend in Sauveterre and it was an amazing experience.

Their home is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and they are incredibly hospitable and wonderful people. It is very private and they are always available for assistance if you need it. In fact, I became very sick this weekend and Michel and Francoise were so so kind to me! They bought me medicine, called friends for assistance (since I speak no french)... Really, it was perfect.

The upstairs area of the home is where we stayed and it was very clean, quiet and comfortable. They are very close to Avignon which is a very pretty, quaint, little Roman-esque town as well as other towns... They gave us multiple maps and ideas for the weekend which was very helpful.

My boyfriend and I couldn't possibly recommend Michel and Francoise any higher. Truly wonderful people (email hidden).

  • Michel and François were the perfect hosts. Nothing was a problem and the food (breakfast and dinner) was really fantastique! A very comfortable room and bed in a magnificent and relaxed home. We loved it!!! Michel's recommended trips to the beautiful Provence countryside were perfect. We are already planning our return trip and will definitely stay again with Michel and François.

  • Very nice home, beautiful garden and house with a big pool and a terrace with barbacue and kitchen exclusive for us. Excellent location to visit the surroundings of Avignon. Michel and Francoise always very helpfully with everything we needed and they were always giving us the best tips to visit everywhere. The gourmet kitchen was delicious, and a very good price for it. Big breakfast with plenty of food. The house is in a beautiful montain very peacefull, we really could rest there. The acces to the wifi was not so good. Thanks a lot Michel y Francoise for this experience.

    Response from Michel:

    Hello Carolina
Thank you for your comments. We were very pleased to receive your family. On wi-fi, I do not understand. Using my notebook I went in the house and the connection is good (3/4 features reception 5) despite the thick walls. To date, I have not had any particular comment. may be it is the specificity of the i-pad or i-phone ?

  • Michel and Francois are the nicest hosts ever! We felt completely at home in their pretty and house and its beautiful garden, the pool was great, the view very nice, the food was absolutely splendid and the talks with Michel and Francois were lots of fun, even though we spoke little French. The house has been completely renovated but has kept its charm and the garden is large, very green and well kept. If you can, stay for dinner, as both hosts are great cooks and the complementary wine is very good indeed :) An absolute must for anyone planning to stay near Avignon!!

  • My wife and I stayed with Michel and Francoise for 3 nights and had an amazing experience. They both were gracious hosts who ensured we had a great time and really allowed us to explore the surrounding areas with ease. With Michel's help it was easy to visit Nimes, Arles, Pont du Gard, Orange and other sites nearby. The best part however was their beautiful home, and the even more beautiful vista from their back yard. Having breakfast and dinner there was an absolute joy. If you choose to stay there make sure to try the duck and fish soup. We miss the food, their home, their dogs, and their company already.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay with Michel and Francoise. The house is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the welcome is warm. They had a fire going in the fireplace and offered us coffee, tea, or wine when we arrived on a cold December day. The location is about 10 or 15 minutes drive from Avignon. Michel helped us plan our time in Avignon. He also responded promptly to my emails before our visit. We asked Francoise to prepare our supper both nights that we stayed, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • The photo!s do not do their lovely home justice, this is a truly beautiful place to stay. We loved our time here and will treasure our memories, breakfasts of local produce on the terrace were a delight. Michel and Francoise are warm and welcoming hosts. The over whelming memory is that of peace and calm. Thankyou.

  • Michel and his family are very nice for us! We enjoying our stay at his paradise! Michel like to travel around the world, hè has been Africa, Asia, South America .........of course Europea! So hè has o lot of experence with tourist! He is very some one who understand the human being! You should have fun with his family!
We stay 6 days there, We had every morning the same boring breakfast which make me disappoint about my stay at there. If you go there with your own car, it's better to go to the city have breakfast and dinner for a few time ! Other wise , it's a pity to be in South France without dilicious food experience! ther are full of resterrant in Avignon and price is not expensive at all!

    Response from Michel:

“the same boring breakfast” is composed of: with the varied choices : coffee/tea/viennoiseries, fruits, omelette, yahourt, milk. The criticism is astonishing on behalf of guests who, each day, appreciated the kitchen of Provence !
