Lafayette, Louisiana, United States

Freetown, is a National Historic District due to its dynamic and rich cultural history.

“Freetown-Port Rico was settled by freed slaves prior to the Civil War and later platted as “Mouton Addition.”

It included people of African, Cajun, Lebanese, Middle Eastern, Greek, Spanish and Irish decent and boasted a black-only jazz hall (Good Hope Hall) with notable musicians attracting white audiences to listen from outside.

This historically significant neighborhood predominantly is a rental community for the university, and most homes were built before 1950, according to the Community Assessment provided in the Comprehensive Planning Process.

We love life and try to savor every moment as we know how quickly it goes by! As both engineers, we work very hard at everything we do. Along with most people, we are always try to find the balance between work and play. We have 2 children - 10 and 24 years old, so we spend much time at school sports with the 10 year old. For fun we love to travel, even if its camping out at the local state park. Any time together without commitments is a vacation for us! After family, Denise's passion is healthy living and her favorite activity is trail running. Kody would love to have more time kart racing and track days. Our goal in life is to have more time together and with family!
