The real hosts are my grandparents. Carmencita (76), a retirered secretary, speaks both English and Spanish, loves to hang out with foreigners, and cook awesome food. Cesar (79), an active arquitect, former member of the National Basketball Team, and retired politician, loves to talk about Guatemala's culture, history, and current events. He can do better French than English, but he'd rather speak Spanish.

We had a lovely stay with Marco's grandparents. They were so sweet and kind - made me feel like I was living with my own grandparents! The house was clean and spacious and close to the airport, which was convenient as we were flying in and out from Tikal
Marco's family were amazing with their hospitality. Above and beyond what we expected. We had a few delays with flights and Marco's mum came to pick us up and was very patient. She took us to get local food and a SIM card for Guatemala. We stayed with Marco's adorable Grandparents which was special. They love the company of travellers and love cooking. I would so love to come back and stay again. Hugs from the Australians. Jan & Mark
I had a very nice stay with Cesar and Carmen. I especially enjoyed my evening conversations with them after dinner. Their home is comfortable and welcoming, and my room was cozy, too.
The hosts offer good food and chauffeur service for a modest price. Experienced travelers can find cheaper alternatives, but the convenience cannot be beat. The wifi was fast and reliable, but the signal was only available in the common areas. This was not a problem for me, but some travelers might want it in their rooms.
I would absolutely recommend the place for travelers looking to stay with a nice Guatemalan family.
I can't get over what pure and generous people marco's grandparents are. :) endlessly accommodating. I couldn't be happier with my stay.
the house is in a neighbourhood that felt very safe and has a beautiful park across the street. the breakfast was delicious and I can't stress enough on how hospitable marco and his family were. highly recommended!
Muchas gracias a Cesar, Carmen y paco.
What a wonderful stay I had with César and Carmen, Marco's grandparents. All I can say is this: I felt like I had died and gone to Airbnb Heaven.
They are the most attentive hosts imaginable. I was welcomed and embraced like a member of the family.
My stay could not possibly have been any better. César, Carmen, and the rest of the family struck a perfect balance with regard to helping me when I needed their assistance and leaving me to my own devices when I wanted to explore Guatemala City on my own.
It was wonderful -- could not possibly have been a better experience.
My friend and I stayed with Marco's grandparents, however, we met Marco on our first day in Guatemala! Let me tell you, this family is AMAZING! They went above and beyond for us. We were only there for 2 days but within those 2 days they made us feel like family. Marco even took us out on the town, we had breakfast each day, they made sure we were safe when it came to public transportation. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help when needed! It was a beautiful house. Definitely a short but sweet stay! We've even already made plans to go back to another one of their properties in April! We can't thank them enough for their great hospitality. You won't be disappointed if you stay here! =D

Guatemalan, but lived in California for almost 7 years. Trained as an engineer but been working as a teacher and cultural guide. I love science, but also art, literature, and latin american film and music. I'm also a triathlete and a dancer.
Ask about mtb tours, coffee tasting, salsa lessons, hikes, volunteering, airport pick ups, and availability even if it looks booked.
Feb-March: I'll be in Peten, but my family will take care of you :)
