The space

A house that "flies" over the sea. Salinetas beach, Gran Canaria.

Architecture and nature come together in this amazing house literally hanging over the sea, in a privileged location on the east coast of Gran Canaria.

The building "flies" over the rocks visually plunging into the sea and giving you the feeling of sailing on a boat on the clear waters of the Atlantic.

Sleeping rocked by the sound of the waves, or watch, without leaving the bed, the sun reflected in the sea at dawn; dine on the terrace by moonlight feeling the caress of the breeze ... are unforgettable experiences that this house guarantees.

The house is very bright and faces the sea. The terrace of the living room has a dining table with room for six people, and the master bedroom terrace has a hammock for sunbathing, relax and enjoy the view or just reading a good book.

And how far is the beach? Well, just beside the house! Just open the door and you can go down to the beach or to the rocky surfaces located under the house, with magnificent natural platforms for sunbathing and spectacular “charcones” studded with small marine life.

Salinetas is a quiet beach where you can relax, rest, practice water sports, cycling, hiking, all in a very unique and familiar.

To the north, a pedestrian maritime promenade connects with the beaches of Melenara , Taliarte , “Playa del Hombre” and “La Garita”. The Promenade features restaurants and terraces where you can taste the cuisine of the area, including the highly recommended "gofio escaldado" or the "papas con mojo”. “Playa del Hombre” is one of the most suitable beaches on the island for surfing.

To the south you'll find small coves like “Silva” or “Aguadulce”, or the incredible fishing village of “Tufia”, with its cave houses and its archaeological site, remains of pre-hispanic inhabitants of the island.

A little further south, the seaside village of “Ojos de Garza”, the vast bay of “Gando”, and the beaches of “El Cabrón” and “Arinaga”, whose seabed is considered the best in Spain for diving.

"Las Clavellinas", the town where the house is integrated has little shops and supermarkets. By car or taking the bus, at a short distance from the house, you can be reached within 5 minutes to the largest shopping and leisure areas of the island, the golf course of “El Cortijo” and the airport itself.

The access time to Telde´s historic core is about 10 minutes, 15 to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, capital of the island, and about 30 to Maspalomas.

We can highly recommend Pedro's house over the sea! Pedro was very flexible and friendly, and the house is spectacular - it's so amazing waking up and going to sleep while listening to the sound of the waves. The area has everything you need and the beach is on your doorstep. We had a great time here!

This place is amazing. Pictures show you exactly what you will find. A peaceful great house on top of the sea. Clean, well equipped, beautiful. Highly recommended if you don't like the touristy places. Pedro and Elena are great hosts. Will definitely come back.

Everything in the description of the house is accurate. You couldn't get closer to the sea! The master bedroom and en suite are fabulous, but note that the second bathroom has a very small shower! The advantage of being in Salinetas is that it's easy to get to other parts of the island, but the downside is the aeroplane noise. Planes take off every few minutes. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Response from Pedro Pablo:
I appreciate and respect your opinions Julian, but I cannot refrain to answer your comment about the noise of planes, since I consider, with the utmost respect, that it does not faithfully reflect the reality of Salinetas beach and may unfairly affect the perception that potential guests may have, not only of Salinetas, but of the entire east coast of Gran Canaria, where the airport is located. To say this, I rely not only on my own and my family experience, as we have grown up and lived on that wonderful coast without ever feeling any annoyance due to airplanes noise, I rely mainly on the opinions of all the guests who have stayed in my house along the more than three years that I have been in airbnb, since never, none of them, as can be verified, has complained about such a thing, but, quite the contrary, they have spoken very positively of the house and the area in which it is located. Salinetas beach is located several kilometers north of the airport. Airplanes departing from the airport immediately take direction to the sea, so when they pass Salinetas they are at high altitude and very far from the coast, deep over the sea. In addition, the dominant north-south wind prevents the sound from reaching the coast, so it is only occasionally (basically when the direction of the wind changes, which happens very seldom to year), and only for a few seconds, when it is possible to hear the distant rumor of some airplane.

The house is lovely, very well equipped - Pedro even acquired a DVD player at our request - clean and comfortable. There is everything you could want in the kitchen, unlike many rental properties. The view over the sea is wonderful, and you can have sun from dawn to dusk. The town is by no means a tourist resort. Not many people speak English and if, like us, you don't want to hire a car, buses are few and far between. There is a Spar supermarket round the corner which has everything you are likely to need, and a big Mercadona 20 or 30 minutes away on foot. There is a cafe very close by and half a dozen restaurants in a group within ten minutes walk. These were packed at most mealtimes in January and they were unwilling to serve beer or coffee unless you had a meal. Pedro answered every query at once and nothing was too much trouble, but he did not hover round - the perfect host.

I have nothing but good things to say about our stay at Pedro's house! The house itself was very clean when we arrived, and exceeded all of our expectations. Our group was late to check-in due to delays in our flights to the island, but Pedro and his daughter were extremely nice and understanding. Once Pedro gave us the keys to the house he then gave us a short tour of the house. He also sat us down and showed us a map of the island and gave us insight as to the best local restaurants and attractions to see which was great! The house itself is within walking distance to a number of restaurants right on the beach, and there are also a number of small supermarkets close to the house for getting food as well. The neighborhood is quiet and safe for walking around even late at night. The views from the house balconies were amazing! Overall, we are already planning to return to the island in the future, and would definitely stay at Pedro's house again if available. His hospitality made our trip that much more memorable. Thank you Pedro!

I am 54 years old and I am architect by profession.

The best thing I can say of Salinetas is that I love this beach. I spent the best days of an intense and happy childhood discovering with my friends the secrets and wonders that lurk in every cave, every puddle and every stone. Fishing, rowing, diving, playing all kind of sports in the sea, in touch with nature.

It was on this beach where I met and fell in love with my wife. I cannot help but smile when remember those romantic nights playing the guitar sitting on the sand, in the heat of a bonfire, or when we walked hand in hand along the shore, outlining the shape of the waves on the wet sand.

It was at this beach, and in this house, where my kids grew also, rediscovering with the same pleasure and intensity with which I did once, the countless wonders that treasures.

Currently, we spend much of the year in another house in the country side, in the interior of the island, but every little bit we come back to spend a few days by the sea, as by far you go, when you've lived in Salinetas, even just for a few days, you will take this place forever etched in your heart.

My family and I wish more people could enjoy the experience of living in this house when we're not and that's why we decided to offer it to you. Come and discover Gran Canaria, its coastline, its customs and its people from a completely new and different perspective!
