Tips and trips nearby

Mountain hiking
At www.ut.no you will find many tour suggestions. There are many nice mountain peaks at 1500 above the sea just off the cabin (which is 1000m). The entrance to Jotunheimen (and all the 2000+ hiking possibilities there) is just about 30 minute drive away. Also check out Tyin's active http://www.tyinfilefjell.no/tyin-aktiv.aspx pages for activities and organized tours you can join

If you are interesting in rafting, there are tips to pick up on Valdres's websites: https://www.valdres.no/opplevelser/aktiviteter/water activities/rafting-juving-riverboard, or you can travel to Voss (about two hours to drive)

If you want to go swimming, you can travel to Årdal, there is a large outdoor heated swimming pool that holds 28 degrees! http://www.ardal.kommune.no/badeanlegg.4820652-155644.html

The fjords
The Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord, extends more than 200 km inland to the foot of the Jotunheimen mountains. This area is said to be one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. You can visit it from Flåm, which is about one hour to drive from our cabin.
The Sognefjord is called the King of the fjords for a good reason: it is the longest fjord in Norway and the second longest in the world. The Sognefjord is enveloped with exceptional natural beauty, tall mountains, waterfalls and scenic forests. https://www.norwaynutshell.com/sognefjord-in-a-nutshell/
The small picturesque village of Flåm, is situated innermost in the Aurlandsfjord and is home of the Flåm Railway. Flåm is nestled innermost in the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the 204-km long and up to 1308-metre-deep Sognefjord. Flåm is the end station of the popular Flåm Railway, where you can take the train to Bergen.
Catch a glimpse of historical Norway only 50 minutes drive from the cabin.
Situated at the end of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sognefjorden, Lærdal features dramatic mountain tops, unique wooden houses in Lærdalsøyri, and Norway’s best preserved stave church.
From Lærdal you can hike to an altitude of 1,000 metres and get magnificent views in just a couple of hours. The salmon river Lærdalselva flows down the mountain to the fjord and gives the valley a distinct character. Lush, green surroundings reveal a lively agriculture industry.
Borgund stave church is the best preserved stave church in Norway, dating back to 1180. The church is built of 2,000 pieces of logs and planks, and although it is no longer used regularly for church functions, it is open to the public as a museum and well worth a visit.
If you want to go for a longer hike, the Vindhellaveien takes you by Borgund stave church, while Kongeveien (The King's Road) crosses the Filefjell Mountains. And these are just two of many hiking options in the area.

If you have any more questions - don’t hesitate to ask.

Enjoy beautiful days in the mountains :-)
