The space
Omena Point Room is a corner room with high ceilings and large windows facing east and south, with beautiful lake views. Queen bed, private bath. Hall balcony. 1st floor wrap-around porch.

Room is 12’ x 14’ with 10’ ceiling. Two large windows (6’h x 4’w) with screens. Pedestal fan. Original hardwood floor, area rug. Private bath w/ stall shower; supplied with bath towels, soap/shampoo, hair dryer.

Sunset Lodge was built in 1891 & listed in National Register of Historic Places. The Wheeler House has 4 guest rooms, each with private bath. Rooms are on the second floor. All rooms are on a corner, with high ceilings and large windows. 2nd floor balcony and 1st floor wrap-around porch with wicker furniture.

Coffee and breakfast buffet served in dining room.

Sunset Lodge has three guest houses, with a total of 11 rooms and suites. In addition to the Wheeler House, adjacent Shedd and Dixie Cottages have large suites offering more space and privacy, some with kitchenettes. All rooms listed in Airbnb, with "Sunset Lodge" in the description.


Our porches, patio and expansive lawn overlook Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay. We have a pickle ball court and ‘social hall’ building with game room. We are a moment's walk to the historic village of Omena, with restaurant/bar (Knot Just A Bar), tasting room (Leelanau Cellars), renowned gallery (Tamarack), historical museum and Omena public beach.

Omena is a small, quaint village. Listed in National Register of Historic Places. A few miles from the ‘busier’ villages of Suttons Bay, Northport & Leland. Perfect base for enjoying Leelanau's year-round activities. Near biking and hiking trails, wineries, orchards and farmers markets, beaches, golf courses, and rivers for canoeing or fishing.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore is a beautiful 20-mile drive along M-22. Wonderful restaurants and shops in nearby villages of Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, Lake Leelanau, Glen Arbor. Omena is 22 miles from Traverse City, 35 miles from Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Guests welcome to enjoy common areas - living room with fireplace, porches, patio, balcony. Expansive grounds with beautiful lake view. Social Hall building with large game room and pickle ball court. (Private areas are clearly marked.)

Other things to note
We have two cats in the house - not allowed in guest rooms and reside primarily in owners' private areas.

The house does not have central A/C. Your large windows open for the lovely lake breezes and there is a pedestal fan as well.
