The Space

What I offer is an inexpensive, safe, and private room in a quiet residential neighborhood (sandwiched between Coral Gables and Coconut Grove) for the solo traveler (or couple) on a budget. You get a comfortable futon that opens up to a full-sized bed, a kitchenette with a small fridge and a microwave, plenty of closet space, a VERY compact yet functional private bathroom/shower, TV with cable, Wi-Fi , AC , a secure parking space/car port, and a gated entrance. I provide clean sheets but you make/undo your own bed. I don't hang around to play host or tour guide. I work very long hours and you'll probably see very little of me. Like I said, the basics. Just a place to shower and sleep.

Compared to similarly priced nearby accommodations, that pretty much just just rent out a guest room in their house or try to "nickle & dime" you with additional fees, I like to think I offer my guests a honest bargain. No hidden/"sneaky" fees or charges.

P.S.: If you expect bed & breakfast/boutique inn/resort-like accommodations, or are an unseasoned/inexperienced traveler with unreasonable expectations, I suggest to keep $earching.

P.S. #2: I run a business, not a game. I consider myself very honest and reasonable but please do not abuse my goodwill. I AM AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN 100% UPFRONT AND OPEN ABOUT WHAT I OFFER. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU, AS A POTENTIAL GUEST, LIKEWISE BE 100% CLEAR AND UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM OFFERING. Do not make a reservation, get here, and then want to cancel or shorten your stay because some friend you made here told you you could stay with them or you supposedly found a place cheaper (doubtful) elsewhere. When you do that I lose the business of a potential serious guest that would have stayed with me had you not reserved those same days. I will not return your cancellation fee. Consider it an inconvenience fee. Please read my listing thoroughly and research your options well before reserving. Thanks and sorry.

Guest Access

Very easy. Just knock on my door and I will hand you the key. The keychain has a remote that will allow you to open the electric gate on the east side of the house. The private entrance to your room is towards the rear of the building.

Interaction with Guests

Not much honestly. We work all day and don't get back until the evenings. I like to think I offer my guests privacy and plenty of space - their home away from home. That said we are always available with a prompt response and offer our guest quick attention if a need for our assistance should arise.

The Neighborhood

An urban yet safe middle-class neighborhood of single family homes and duplexes. Centrally located between Miami's Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. Close enough to all the best downtown Coral Gables has to offer - basically Miami's culinary/dining epicenter.

Getting Around

We are located half a block from bus #37 which takes you from and to the airport. Metrorail's Douglas Road station is a 10-15 minute walk away - which could also be reached by free trolley service (weekdays only) just a block away. The trolley also takes you to Miracle Mile and the Village of Merrick Park (a high-end mall). Via Metrorail you could travel to Dadeland Mall, Sunset Place, South Miami, UM, the Grove, Viscaya, Brickell (club, bars, & dining), and Downtown. From Downtown, the #120 bus could take you to South Beach.

P.S. A new short-term car rental service just popped up in Miami. I have seen their cars parked close to the house. Just do a search for car2go and miami. You might want to check them out.

Other Things to Note

Miami is located in a subtropical region of the US. Like any city that was built on drained and developed wetlands (the Everglades), the visitor should expect all of the flora, fauna, and unique challenges that are native of a subtropical wetland - despite the appearance and comforts of a modern city. Please do a little research before your stay. This is the real Miami, NOT a Will Smith song. As far as weather, we only have two seasons. Our late-springs and summers (wet season) are very warm and very humid - and daily thunderstorms are a common occurrence. Bring an umbrella. Our late-autumns and winters (dry season and tourist peak-season), on the other hand, are drier and milder - with temperatures ranging between the 70s and the rare 40s. Our beaches are open and available year round - but locals mostly go in the spring and summer.
