  • Karen and Pat were great hosts. The place was beautiful, large, clean and fully equipped. Many hiking trails were nearby. We really enjoyed our stay, and would certainly stay again in the future.

  • Karen and Pat are wonderful hosts and the setting is magnificent. The apartment is well laid out and very well stocked. Wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Great people and a great location. I couldn't ask for better. The rooms were clean and comfortable. This is why one uses AirBnb - I definitely would recommend the Barn.

  • A massive thank you to Karen and Pat for the opportunity to stay in the apartment at their beautiful home. It was furnished to the standard of a London boutique hotel, except of course there was not just one room. The apartment comprises two large double bedrooms with very comfy beds, a fully fitted and extremely well stocked kitchen (every type of pan and baking tray, kettle, Keurig coffee machine, toaster, microwave, cooking oils, washing up liquid, cloth, teatowels, butter, jam, some spices etc - the list goes on!), a desk/study area, gorgeous bathroom and a fantastic living room/dining room with stunning views of the Mohonk preserve/Shawangunk mountains. It was luxurious and uncluttered, but also very homely (another reviewer correctly notes zen-like) and we had no qualms about our 18 month old being let loose in the space. She loved it! The apartment has its own door and therefore a separate entrance to the rest of Karen and Pat's house, although access is through their garden gate which means you will be greeted by their dogs Kaiser and Noble. They are EXTREMELY well behaved and trained though and after an initial introductory sniff they subsequently happily leave you alone once they realise it's you and not an intruder. So please don't let this put you off if you are not a dog fan or if you're sadly, like me, pet allergic. Karen has thought of everything and the bathroom is similarly well stocked with spare toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and there is also a hairdryer. It truly is home from home, except we sadly don't have a swimming pool (again towels provided), tennis court or extensive grounds which are also yours to enjoy at your leisure. And as if that's not enough, Karen delivered delicious home made muffins to our door! Karen and Pat are very helpful and on hand to give suggestions and advice as to where to visit if needs be, but they are not intrusive and the apartment and outdoor space is yours to enjoy. The barn is situated opposite a winery, there are several grocery/deli stores nearby and the lovely town of New Paltz is only a 15 min drive away with all its amenities, shops and restaurants. We had a fantastic 3 nights chez Karen and Pat and our only regret is that we couldn't stay for longer. If we are ever in up state New York in future we'll definitely return. Thank you both so much!

  • We loved our stay at the Barn. The hosts Karen and Pat were so welcoming and recommendations of restaurants, bike stores and other interest points were top notch. The apartment itself was extremely clean and bright. The kitchen was fully equipped and the bed was very comfortable. We also took full advantage of the pool which was very relaxing after a long day of cycling. We will definitely come back to stay at the Barn .

  • This was a wonderful stay. We were 2 couples with a small child and a dog and the accommodations were perfect for us. There are two large bedrooms, one with a king and the other with a queen, both very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and dishes plus a Keurig coffee pot with the pods. There is a market nearby where we bought food to prepare meals. The living space is open and comfortable for relaxing and gathering, plus there is wi-fi access and an ipod dock for music.

Karen and Pat are gracious hosts who are available if you need them and can recommend things to do in the area. The property is beautiful and we while we didn't have time for tennis this trip we were able to spend a little bit of time in the pool.

As we found in our previous stay, the home provides a great home base to take advantage of all the great outdoor activities around the area. The house is directly on several hiking and cycling trails with great rock climbing a 5 minute drive away. The Mohonk resort can also be accessed easily for a bit of ice skating, golf, or dancing... among other things! All in all, this is a fantastic get-away thats only a 90 minute drive from NYC

  • This was both our first Airbnb experience and our first weekend getaway with our 6 month old baby. Our dog came too. The barn was comfortable, clean, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We had a lovely time hiking around the Peter's Kill area, visiting Awosting Falls, cooking ourselves delicious meals at the barn, stretching out, and re-centering. Thank you Karen & Pat for being such gracious hosts.

  • We loved our stay here! The place was clean and bright and the bed was very comfortable. They had the kitchen stocked with any appliance/utensil we needed to cook and even had a Keurig for morning coffee. The surrounding area was quiet and peaceful, just what we needed for a weekend away. Karen and Pat were extremely gracious hosts and made us (and our dog) feel more than welcome. We plan to come back when the weather warms up to take advantage of all of the outdoor amenities. Thanks Karen and Pat!

  • Karen's place was incredibly charming, clean and as described. A small group of us went up for a short stay over the winter holidays. We had a lovely time and Karen and her husband were beyond sweet and accommodating. As we were preparing dinner, we realized that we had forgotten a vital ingredient. To the rescue they came with a package of tomatoes for us. We look forward to coming back some day... particularly in the summer with the beautiful countryside and salt water pool. I highly recommend it. Thanks again, Karen.
