Colinda Cabanas has been voted the # 1 bargain in Central America and # 20 in the WORLD for 2014 by Trip Advisor. Located on a quiet serene sandy beach on the prefered East side. We offer a variety of options depending on your needs and your budget !

The Space

This cabana (# 8) sits at the back of the property and has a partial ocean and jungle view. Bird watching from the back porch is excellent. The porch comes with chairs, table and hammock. There are several well-screened windows and wall-fans providing good ventilation. Inside there is a double bed and a single bed with fitted sheets and comfy pillows. There is a simple kitchenette with microwave, blender, toaster, basic dishes, fridge and coffee pot which will satisfy most travelers basic needs. The bathroom shower and wash basin have a ample supply of hot reverse osmosis purified water. Other features include : Free WiFi, In-room safe, Organic Coffee beans and daily light housekeeping service.

A 175' long dock with palapa and hammocks and safe swimming area completes the picture. Bring a bathing suit, a good book and a beach towel.

We now offer complimentary bicycles, snorkel gear and have 2 kayaks available on a first-come basis.

Please note that we currently have ten rentals available to suit different budgets and needs : ALL ON A GORGEOUS BEACHFRONT PROPERTY IN CAYE CAULKER, BELIZE.

Guest Access

We are located on a prime Caribbean beachfront property. Facing the reef, we are blessed with an almost constant cool North-Easterly breeze. Most nights star-gazing is amazing while listening to the surf breaking on the reef. Naturalists and children alike will enjoy the abundant species of migratory birds, reptiles and marine life.
We have a 175' pier with several private bathing areas. At the end of the pier is a covered palapa with 2 hammocks. Each guest is assigned their own private beach cruiser bicycle with basket which is ideal for cruising around town. There are also a few sets of masks and snorkels available on a first-come basis. Basic fishing hand-lines are available for those guests that want to try the local technique. 2 kayaks are also available on a first-come basis.

Interaction with Guests

Colin and Linda will greet you on arrival and show you to your cabana. You will be shown a map of the island and the lay of the land. In the event that Colin + Linda are away in Canada; Juan our manager and his wife Emilita will be your hosts. A staff member is always on-site to answer your questions or concerns. We also have a night time watchman.

The Neighborhood

Colinda Cabanas is located in a quiet serene area of the island. The edge of town is a short 5 minute stroll down the beach. Many guests take tours off-site and go snorkeling, fishing or kayaking. However many guests just love to hang out on our pier, read a good book, go swimming and enjoy the ambiance.

Getting around

We are located about a 5 minute walk from the nearest store or restaurant. Or 2 minutes by bicycle.
Our exact location on Caye Caulker is as follows:
From the 2 water taxi piers located on the front of the island ; step off the end of the pier, take a left and walk 10 minutes South along the beach. We are just past the Anchorage Resort.
From the airport : Walk 400 feet to the beach. Turn left and walk North along the beach for 3 minutes.
From the back (water jets) pier walk 50 yards to middle street, turn right and walk 10 minutes along middle street.
Middle street dead-ends at our property.
If you arrive tired or with a pile of luggage; taxis charge U.S. $2.50 per person and only take a few minutes to get to our place.

Other Things to Note

Regional Disclaimer: The island of Caye Caulker is in the coastal Caribbean / tropical region of Belize. While this provides incredible beauty and natural wonders from sky to sea, it also means that, heat, humidity, sudden tropical squalls and power outages are common occurrences.
Living on a beach surrounded by jungle also means an abundance of Geckos, Iguanas, ants, and land crabs.
Occasionally sand flies and mosquitoes can also be problematic.
That said, we do everything we can to ensure your stay is comfortable and pleasant.....

  • Linda and Colin were amazingly friendly. As soon as we arrived we felt at home. Linda sat us down with a very handy map and marked all the places we might want to go as well as her recommendations. Additionally, the cabanas come with a bike per person-- super convenient on the island since everyone gets around on bikes. Also, there were plenty of snorkel masks for anyone to use and 2 kayaks that you could use anytime. The cabana was cleaned daily and the perfect size. There were also cooking utensils and a burner and small fridge. We were very, very comfortable. The manager of the cabanas was also extremely nice and helped us set up the grill so we could cook some freshly caught fish we had purchased. Overall it was amazing and we highly recommend it.

  • The worst thing about staying at Colinda Cabanas for us was leaving. Colin and Linda were wonderful and made us feel welcomed and spoiled. Their hospitality and staff made our visit extra special. The cabanas were very clean and the housekeeping staff was attentive and made up our rooms each day. It is a easy breezy walk or bike up the beach to town for meals. With a fridge in the room you should pick up some fresh fruit juice so you can enjoy it out on the dock. Colinda keeps an ear open for the best deals for their guests. If you need a snorkel trip or a tip on where to eat, they can help. We rented a golf cart the first day we were there. It wasn’t necessary but it was fun to bomb around and get a feel for the place. We used the drop off laundry service at Jasmine. For $8 our clothes were washed, dried and folded while we swam at the Split. The beach area is limited on Caye Caulker. For many the Split is the place to go but we preferred being out of the hustle on Colinda’s private dock. The deck chairs and hammocks make it a great place to hang out and read/catnap. We can tell you all about how friendly, well ran and clean it was, but what we can’t really explain is the Colinda magic. There seems to be something in the air there that we can’t wait to return to. Colin and Linda pour their heart into their cabanas and it shows.

  • Linda's Cabana was perfect. Fans were large and adequate for the temperature control for sleeping. Bicycles were a nice necessity for island travel. We sat for hours in the happy blue adirondack chairs. Compared to where my step daughter was staying, Colinda Cabanas are a breath of fresh air. Linda is a very attentive host. I would highly recommend Colin and Linda's accommodations to singles, couples and girls' weekends!

  • Colin and Linda are fantastic hosts and I loved staying at their place. The rooms are comfy and well kept. The location is great. It's in the quieter south end of the island. They provide bikes, so very easy to zip back and forth and you do not have to deal with the party scene at night. I spent a very restful 9 days and recommend staying there to anyone.

  • A hidden gem! Colinda cabanas was a lovely place to stay on a magical island. The cabana we stayed in was clean and bright. We did not have AC but were fine with the fans. An added bonus was having bikes to use to cruise around the island. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Colinda's. The location was perfect. It was quiet and an easy bike ride to town and the bikes provided made it easy to get anywhere on the island. The cabana was nice and well-kept and we enjoyed the privacy and intimacy of the location in the back of the property. Linda and Colin made the experience fantastic and provided a lot of good info on where to find good food and where to go to book snorkeling and Mayan ruin tours. The staff was friendly and fun to talk to. Staying at Colinda's was one of our favorite parts about Caye Caulker, so much so that we extended our stay. We will definitely be back to Caye Caulker and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

  • Colinda Cabanas is a great place to stay on Caye Caulker, probably the best. We had cabana#8, the furthest from the sea but still had enough sea breeze on the porch to make it comfortable. It is a small cabana but had all the things to make it comfortable - several fans, reading lights, a clock on the wall. Having the use of bicycles is a big plus - Colinda is far enough away to insure it's quietness but just a quick bike ride into town. The hammocks and chairs on the dock made a great place for hanging out.
Colin is a great host. He knows the island well and can make great recommendations for food and things to do.
We hope to get back to Caye Caulker soon and will definitely stay at Colinda Cobanas.

  • Upon our arrival via water taxi the beautiful island culture touched us...it was a beautiful 10 min walk to the cabana along the gorgeous carribbean beach, where we collected conch shells and took in the tropical birds and stepped over the coconuts.
We were greeted by Colin and found they had upgraded us to the beachfront suite. Everything was brand new, very clean, and cheery. They gave us great island info...where to eat, what was cheap, who to get the best snorkeling tour thru...Juni of course! We had access to a few bikes which was a great way to get around and explore the island.
they offered us use of their kayaks, and we had a great time! The palappa at the end of the pier with 2 inviting hammocks was relaxing...we even saw a ray resting in the water near there as well.
Fabulous time, fabulous place, fabulous people!!

    Thank you Colin and Linda!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Colinda's Cabanas. Caye Caulker is a beautiful little island and Colinda's was right on the beach and perfectly located to get around town. Our cabana was cute, comfortable, and clean. There is a small kitchenette with a coffee pot, a purified water dispenser, microwave, refrigerator, etc which was really convenient if you like to have coffee in the morning when you are getting ready or take home leftovers, like we do. There also is a private dock, with hammocks and adirondack chairs to relax on.

Linda was a wonderful host. She answered out numerous questions, loaned us kayaks, and gave us wonderful recommendations about places to go on the island. Her staff and workmen were very nice as well. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Colinda's Cabanas to anyone visiting Caye Caulker!

  • We had such a great time on Caye Caulker and Colinda's was the perfect home base for our trip. We completely soaked up Linda's recommendations for eating and activities and Colin's great jokes. They are taking great care of the property and we loved every minute. The hammocks, the bikes, the "bridge" - everything was fantastic.

About
We (Colin and Linda) are from the Okanagan/Shuswap areas of British Columbia, Canada. We now call Lillooet B.C. and Caye Caulker, Belize our home. We were looking for a life-style change (needed paying jobs) and purchased this small beachfront resort in late January 2011. We spent the last year fixing it up and are now starting to enjoy Island living. We welcome your visit to our little spot in paradise. If you have any questions or concerns - please email us.
