The home is located about a block and 1/2 from the beach; so close you can hear the ocean at night. We are also located near Egan's Greek Greenway, a natural preserve where you can explore many grass covered maintained trails. Depending on the season, and time of day, you may see a river otter, bobcat, alligator, or birds such as the great blue heron, anhinga, osprey, bald eagle, roseate spoonbill and more. There are 3 bicycles available for enjoying the sites around the historic city, riding along the marsh, the beach, or visiting beautiful Fort Clinch State Park. We also offer beach chairs and towels to use during your stay.
Amelia Island is a wonderful place to visit, it's beaches are not crowded, the historic district is quaint, there are many talented musicians that play in the pubs and restaurants at night, the atmosphere is laid back, and the local food is amazing!
Jacksonville is only a 45 minute drive, St. Augustine is 1 1/2 hours south, Daytona is 2 hours south, and Savannah is 2 hours north for Day trips, if you feel like venturing off the Island. There are rental cars available at Jacksonville International airport and one on the Island as well as Taxi service.
We recently adopted a dog from a shelter. His name is Parker and he is so sweet and smart. To those who have animal allergies like myself, Parker does not go into the bedrooms or bathrooms.
After a day of exploring the Island and other areas nearby you can relax on the deck with a glass of wine or wake up to coffee, enjoying it on the deck listening to the morning birds singing their songs.
Amelia Island has no public transportation but we do have three taxi services.
8 Flags of Amelia Island: $55.00 fee for airport pick up
Island Hopper: $60.00 fee for airport pick up
However if you would like me to pick you up the fee is $20.00
Debbie and Bobby are two of the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. Their home is beautiful and the accommodations were very nice and comfortable. Parker is such a sweet dog and a joy to be around. Rating our experience on a 1 to 10 scale, with 10 being the highest, I would give it a 10+. We would definitely stay with them again.
Deborah and Bobby were absolutely wonderful hosts and are generous, kind, interesting and very genuine people. The home is beautiful and very comfortable.
They were kind enough to let us use their trail bikes and we saw wonderful wildlife very close to their home, deer, otters, a baby alligator, birds galore... They are perfect in this role of host and hostess and seem to love sharing their home and conversing with other. Thank you both for a fabulous stay.
We had a wonderful time staying with Deborah and Bobby. They are a very kind and welcoming couple and their home is absolutely lovely and in a great location. It is an easy walking distance to the beach which is not crowded and an easy drive or bike to the downtown area of Fernandina Beach where there are many great restaurants and shops. Their home is also very clean and smells great (which is a feat considering they have a sweet dog).
We very much enjoyed our stay with Deborah and Bobby. They have a pleasant, comfortable home and made us welcome in every way. The beautiful beach was a short walk away, and the Florida birding trail was also very close. We rode bikes on it. We would gladly return on another occasion!
Our stay with Deb and Bobby was wonderful, just what we had wanted...a lovely, comfortable place to enjoy the Florida coast. They provided just the right mix of privacy and friendly companionship, plus all the extras, bikes to ride the trails, beach chairs, water bottles, plus! We would happily return another time!
Deborah and Bobby are great hosts. They have a lovely home that they open and share with their guests. It's a short walk to the beach and a short drive to all of the shopping and tourist spots. You will love it. Quiet and safe neighborhood.
I had a great experience with Deborah and Boby. THey were very friendly from the start. Gave me gret advice on places to eat and places to consider visiting. THeir house is beautiful and room available was spacious. I had everything I needed. Beach was within walkign distance and the resorts on Amelia Island (which I went to for a conference) were within 15 mins. They have an awesome dog as well who was well trained and fun to play with. I also had great conversation with them and Bobby is pretty accomplished singer and guitar player. Would def recommend this spot for comfy and relaxing weekend or vacay week.
Our stay at Deborah's and Bobby's place was amazing. The bedroom was very cozy and clean with a very comfortable bed. Deborah gave us lots of recommendations for the island and cared about us like a mother :-) Bobby gave us some nice bikes to explore the island. Before we left, Deborah made the best smoothie we' ve ever had ;-) All in all we were very happy to meet this friendly open minded couple and their cute dog Parker. The highlight before we left was a little concert of Bobby, who is a great singer :-) We will definetely recommend this room to our friends!!!! Thank you Deborah and Bobby.
The moment I stepped into Deborah's and Bobby's house, it was like coming home. The room is clean and immaculately decorated with Deborah's paintings. They even had bathrobes for guests as the bathroom is next door. Deborah showed me the guide book that they thoughtfully put together for guests. I found it very helpful as I could find all restaurants and points of interests from there. Their house also has a perfect location as it just took me from 5-15 minutes to get to where I wanted to go.
Bobby and Deborah are very gracious hosts. Bobby helped carry my luggage to my room. And I love talking to Deborah every time I came home. For some reasons, I felt that she was like my mom. She always made sure I had everything I needed and kept me company during breakfast/lunch. It was a great pleasure to stay with Bobby and Deborah when I visited Fernandina Beach. I can't thank them enough for their hospitality and kindness. I highly recommend this place if you visit Fernandina Beach or Amelia Island. Thanks again, Bobby and Deborah!
Great place and amazing hosts! My wife and I went to Amelia Island for a wedding and could not have picked a better place to stay. Deborah and Bobby were some of the best hosts I've ever stayed with on Airbnb. They really helped us figure out what we should do on the island and even volunteered to drive us to nearby places on a few occasions. They went way above and beyond what we had expected. If you stay here, don't pass up the chance to bike around the island and don't miss the nearby gator nest!
