The home is located about a block and 1/2 from the beach; so close you can hear the ocean at night. We are also located near Egan's Greek Greenway, a natural preserve where you can explore many grass covered maintained trails. Depending on the season, and time of day, you may see a river otter, bobcat, alligator, or birds such as the great blue heron, anhinga, osprey, bald eagle, roseate spoonbill and more. There are 3 bicycles available for enjoying the sites around the historic city, riding along the marsh, the beach, or visiting beautiful Fort Clinch State Park. We also offer beach chairs and towels to use during your stay.
Amelia Island is a wonderful place to visit, it's beaches are not crowded, the historic district is quaint, there are many talented musicians that play in the pubs and restaurants at night, the atmosphere is laid back, and the local food is amazing!
Jacksonville is only a 45 minute drive, St. Augustine is 1 1/2 hours south, Daytona is 2 hours south, and Savannah is 2 hours north for Day trips, if you feel like venturing off the Island. There are rental cars available at Jacksonville International airport and one on the Island as well as Taxi service.
We recently adopted a dog from a shelter. His name is Parker and he is so sweet and smart. To those who have animal allergies like myself, Parker does not go into the bedrooms or bathrooms.
After a day of exploring the Island and other areas nearby you can relax on the deck with a glass of wine or wake up to coffee, enjoying it on the deck listening to the morning birds singing their songs.
Amelia Island has no public transportation but we do have three taxi services.
8 Flags of Amelia Island: $55.00 fee for airport pick up
Island Hopper: $60.00 fee for airport pick up
However if you would like me to pick you up the fee is $20.00
Other Things to Note

Bobby and I are very flexible and as long as you treat our house like you would your own, the house rules are very simple. You can come and go as you like and, have guest over for a cookout or small dinner party. We ask that there is no smoking in the house but you are free to smoke out on the deck, and that you bring no pets. If you drive or rent a car, there is parking in the driveway. If you have any special request, just contact us through airbnb. We want you to enjoy your stay with us.
My partner and I felt very at home with Deborah and Bobby, they are awesome people. The house is beautiful , comfortable and in a great location. Parker their dog is a prize pup. If your are in this part of the world I highly recommend Nice Cozy Room on Amelia Island.
Deborah and Bobbys place was immaculately clean, quiet, and comfortable. When I arrived, they welcomed me warmly and showed me the room and bathroom, which was well stocked with travel toiletries. Deborah showed me how to work the tv and asked if I would want coffee in the morning. She also offered me a glass of wine while I was settling in :). After a much needed night of restful sleep, I spent the morning chatting with Deborah over coffee. She told me all about the area and even showed me some adorable tricks that sweet Parker the dog was learning. I will definitely stay here again.
I can not recommend this rental enough! My friend and I came to beautiful Fernandina beach for a girls getaway, and left feeling as though we had been staying with family! Debbie and Bobby could not have been more accommodating, they have considered everything you could possibly want on your vacation. They made great suggestions for restaraunts and activities. We loved walking on the greenway that is very close to their home and saw lots of gators, otters, turtles, and even a beautiful great blue heron. The beach is gorgeous and very close. It was really the perfect location. I can't wait to come back in the Fall with my husband. I plan to stay with Deborah and Bobby again because they were such generous helpful hosts! We also fell in love with their dog Parker, who was so friendly and well mannered.
Debbie and Bobby were very hospitable and helpful. Debbie gave us lots of restaurant recommendations and generally oriented us toward activities and attractions of Amelia Island. Their home is located near the beach and near walking trails with cool natural views. Their home is very clean with many amenities and they emphasized a relaxed, open use of their space. They let us use bikes to get into town and to Main Beach. They even offered to drop us off in town a couple of times. We used taxis to get back from town in these instances. Their home is not in walking distance to town so if you don't like to walk or ride bikes, you should have a rental car or other ways to get around.
Deborah and Bobby were very welcoming. We enjoyed our brief stay at their lovely home.
Deborah and Bobby are really genuine, caring, and kind people. Parker their gorgeous dog is also delightful and so well behaved and very loveable! This is a real home away from home, with so much attention to detail - and we would love to stay again!
Deborah and Bobby were great. The room looks just like the pictures. Clean, cozy and quiet. Our hosts could not have been nicer and more welcoming. They were very knowledgeable about what to do, see and eat on the island. Parker, their dog, is awesome. Always there to greet you at the door but not in an over bearing way. If only my dog were so well behaved. I highly recommend Fernandina Beach and Deborah and Bobby's place.
We love to travel and have lived and visited many places here in the United States and other countries. Both of us are out going, nonjudgmental and love meeting new people, always making new friends. We have 4 grown children and one grandson. (UPDATE) We now have a little granddaughter born June 13, 2013! Our lives have been enriched by the people we have met and the places we have experienced. We look forward to meeting you.
