Interaction with Guests
I rent out two individual suites. The couples suite has a solid heavy redwood platform king bed with a springless tempurpedic foam mattress. If you pay for the extra guests I can add two twin beds perfect for a couple or a couple with two children etc,. I m not available for watching your children. If you decide to bring your children I just wish that you watch the children since there is some safety issues with the property such as the River in the winter has rapids, concrete steps, gates to side creeks and bridges etc. My last guest stated to feel free to discipline my child. I feel it is not my responsibility to do so. They referred me to Auntie Annie to pass on their responsibility to watch their children. I love children but do not wish to watch them.
The Hawaiian Suite With a private bath I rent out separately has two queen beds, a double bed and a twin bed and room for another twin if you need one. If you rent out both suites and need a third room I do have two doubles that are sofa sleepers in the great room next to the fire place. I do hand mop all the wooden floors and I may miss a pet hair or two and if this bugs you please find another place. I am fairly clean and I try to keep the place without pet hair but pet hair does fly. I ask you not to bring your pet since other guests may be allergic to them. I don't allow my own dogs in any of the newly carpeted suites. I have two vacuums. One for the suites and one for the rest of the house to minimize the dog dander in the suites. I also have another suite I rarely rent out with four more beds upstairs in an open suite with great views of the Carmel River. Please ask I can I can arrange for this suite to be rented out as well.
The neighborhood has three baseball fields with Garland park of over a 1,000 acres of perfect for hiking and having picnics. There are several wineries and restaurants which are in walking distance. This area is like Napa wine country with several wine tasting rooms and great restaurants. Great safe neighborhood where I have lived for 24 years.
Best to have a car or bring a bike so you can check out the coast which is 11 miles away where the Big Sur journey begins. You also may just take a walk into Carmel Valley Village and explore all the wine tasting rooms. There is a wine trolley and a tractor driven wagon to drop you home after the tastings.
Other Things to Note
There is so much to do!. The hiking is right out the back of the property onto Garland Regional Park , local wine tasting and restaurants are in walking distance. Along the coast is great beaches, whale watching, Pebble Beach Golf, 17 mile Drive, Carmel Shops and the Big Sur drive. I have a great ideas on all the best restaurants in town and the favorite hikes and favorite waterfalls to explore.etc.

Recently refinished hardwood floors so bring your house slippers which are not flip flops that you travel outside with. Socks or bare feet are great! No pets please. My service dogs are herding dogs that like to chase little dogs or cats . Good idea not to sneak them in.
No loud parties please . You may smoke outside. Thank you.
Anne was a great host! My partner and I enjoyed a relaxing Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend in her lovely home near the Carmel Valley River. Stunning views in her back yard and the space was exquisite. Anne offered great recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. We hope to make this a recurring trip!
Anne is a very gracious and accommodating host with a lovely home in close proximity to Carmel By The Sea. She knows a lot about the area and had some great suggestions on things to do and see but above all provided a very comfy clean and peaceful place to stay and made us feel very welcome she even provided some home made salsa and fresh fruit from the garden.
Upon arrival Anne was great in getting us situated and was more than happy to leave us to enjoy ourselves.
Anne was an awesome host! Her place is quaint and makes you feel like you are home. It was nice that Anne allowed us to have it all to ourselves, it was too large for us to truly take advantage of! The king bed that we stayed on was super comfortable, nice and firm. Our shower had great water pressure which heated up extremely fast.
Anne is very knowledgeable about where to go and what to do in Carmel Valley, Carmel and the surrounding areas. Her home is a 5 minute walk to great hiking locations which can give you a really great workout. Anne stays in a room that she built out in her huge backyard so she really tries to stay out of your way during your stay. Her kitchen is gorgeous and has all of the tools that you would need to cook a great meal. She has 3 wonderful dogs who are extremely friendly and loving.
I'd definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a fun getaway close to Carmel in Carmel Valley!
Anne is a lovely host. Her home is very spacious and welcoming. We stayed in the purple room and the couldn't believe how comfortable the bed was, it was such a bonus.
As the other reviews mentioned, the home isn't right in the heart of Downtown Carmel, although we didn't mind the drive.
Anne gave us lots of tips on what to do, she made our weekend truly memorable. If we decide to make a trip to Carmel again, we wouldn't hesitate booking with her.
Thank Anne :)
Anne was a very gracious host. She was there to welcome us and show us around. All her suggestions were bang on. We had dinner at Wills Fargo Saloon and kids loved it. We also went to Bernardus Lodge as per her suggestion to have breakfast and play ball.
The house will get 3 stars from me. There were pet hair in the lobby area that Anne vacuumed for us. The bed creaked every time we moved and had flannel sheets which made it very warm. The river is a dry creek which wasn't mentioned in the description. The backyard was great and the kids had a great time there.
I hand mop all the wood floors and sometimes you may spot a pet hair or so. If you have an issue with this please don't book. Tammy called me Auntie Annie where she ask me to discipline her 3.5 year old child Hernando. I feel it is not my job to babysit or discipline someone else's children. I love children but undisciplined children are not on my list of favorites . I rather not be in the same area where I would like guests to have their privacy. Hernando was a handful ie. picking fruit that he didn't wish to eat , sliding long zucchini freshly picked in the sliding glass door track calling it his train , spraying during our California drought the kitchen windows and people with the garden hose. Mom or Dad put the heavy fire extinguisher up out of reach on my new granite counter tops because of Hernando. When I said good bye Hernando's side of the car had permanent scribbles on their new interior of their Mercedes SUV. Tammy reserved the place for two guest and paid for two guest not four guests. This was more than I bargained for. As far as the king bed it is a springless tempurpedic foam mattress made out of solid redwood boards that is so heavy you can't lift . So if you weigh a bunch you could possible make it squeak . Sorry for this. This was one of my most challenging guests I have come across in the last 14 years.
We had a very pleasant stay at Anne's place. We appreciated the big kitchen, the nice veranda for morning coffee and the hang out in the garden for an afternoon rest. Anne took good care of us and took us for a long walk in the neighbourhoods. We strongly recommend a stay in Carmel Valley at Anne's retreat.
