About this listing
Comfortable twin room, with a shower, basin and loo en-suite. There's a kettle, for tea and coffee, in the room too.
Longvale is not a hotel, it is our family home and a working farm, which we are happy to share with chosen guests. The furniture and furnishings are in keeping with the historical nature of the property. We expect our guests to understand this before booking.
There is a breakfast menu available, and we try to cater for special diets. Otherwise most of our guests enjoy a full Irish breakfast, cooked with local ingredients where possible. There is a guests' sitting room with television, a spacious dining room and large garden and farm. Rocky the dog is part of the family. Everyone enjoys tea and home-made cake on the house on arrival.
You pay 35 Euros a night each, with children under 12 half price, sharing the parents' bedroom. Under fours are free, and we can supply a travel cot if required.
Come and stay with us in our ancient farmhouse, built originally in 1611, and passed down in our family for generations. Within easy distance of Londonderry which is City of Culture 2013, and its airport. Close to the Ulster American Folk Park, Grianan Fort and a hour's drive from Glenveagh Castle, not too from the Giant's Causeway and the beaches of the North Coast.
Excellent restaurants nearby in Lifford and Strabane.
We are also setting up a small museum to describe the unique history of the property. The house is set in beautiful Donegal farmland, and we also have a fishing lake, for coarse fishing.
This is a most charmimg house. Like staying in a museum. Beds even had heat pads for cold nites. Breakfast was wonderful, especilly the day the grand daughter served. She was delightful.
We got lost on the way to Jeans and when I phoned she came and rescued us it was much appreciated
I really enjoyed my stay with Jean & Mervyn. Both lovely people. Great breakfast (& variety) which really set up me for the days travel ahead. Whilst I also enjoyed viewing their agricultural museum (inc 2 great tractors under restoration & an authentic Irish Phone Box) which like their home, is seeped in history. A very positive experience & one I would recommend to all.
Thank you & the very best of regards.
