About this listing

The space

Comfortable twin room, with a shower, basin and loo en-suite. There's a kettle, for tea and coffee, in the room too.
Longvale is not a hotel, it is our family home and a working farm, which we are happy to share with chosen guests. The furniture and furnishings are in keeping with the historical nature of the property. We expect our guests to understand this before booking.
There is a breakfast menu available, and we try to cater for special diets. Otherwise most of our guests enjoy a full Irish breakfast, cooked with local ingredients where possible. There is a guests' sitting room with television, a spacious dining room and large garden and farm. Rocky the dog is part of the family. Everyone enjoys tea and home-made cake on the house on arrival.
You pay 35 Euros a night each, with children under 12 half price, sharing the parents' bedroom. Under fours are free, and we can supply a travel cot if required.

Come and stay with us in our ancient farmhouse, built originally in 1611, and passed down in our family for generations. Within easy distance of Londonderry which is City of Culture 2013, and its airport. Close to the Ulster American Folk Park, Grianan Fort and a hour's drive from Glenveagh Castle, not too from the Giant's Causeway and the beaches of the North Coast.
Excellent restaurants nearby in Lifford and Strabane.
We are also setting up a small museum to describe the unique history of the property. The house is set in beautiful Donegal farmland, and we also have a fishing lake, for coarse fishing.

There is no more beautiful setting for a relaxing night after a long drive. I was greeted as I got out of my car, and shown through this gorgeous home to my room. Tea was served promptly after I got settled in, and I enjoyed the serene atmosphere of the quiet country farm. Breakfast was delicious as well. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had a tight schedule to keep. If I find myself in Co. Donegal again, I will certainly request another stay.

Longvale House is such cosy and charming that I felt as home from the first second I entered. I was warmly welcomed and then greeted with a lovely pot of tea and self-made cakes that were really enjoyable. Mervyn and Jean are wonderful hosts, both very attentive, giving me some special literature that fit to my trip and even showed me the little museum which was truely stunning. The room was awesome, clean and tidy, and the breakfast rich and delicious. It was a great pleasure to be hosted by you and I hope to come there again in the future. Extremely recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay with Jean & Mervyn. Both lovely people. Great breakfast (& variety) which really set up me for the days travel ahead. Whilst I also enjoyed viewing their agricultural museum (inc 2 great tractors under restoration & an authentic Irish Phone Box) which like their home, is seeped in history. A very positive experience & one I would recommend to all. Thank you & the very best of regards.
