The space

Come and stay with us in our ancient farmhouse, built originally in 1611, and passed down in our family for generations. Within easy distance of Londonderry which is City of Culture 2013, and its airport. Close to the Ulster American Folk Park, Grianan Fort and a hour's drive from Glenveagh Castle, not too from the Giant's Causeway and the beaches of the North Coast.
Excellent restaurants nearby in Lifford and Strabane.
We are also setting up a small museum to describe the unique history of the property. The house is set in beautiful Donegal farmland, and we also have a fishing lake, for coarse fishing.

House Rules

Longvale is not a hotel, it is our family home and a working farm, which we are happy to share with chosen guests. The furniture and furnishings are in keeping with the historical nature of the property. We expect our guests to understand this before booking. There is a breakfast menu available, and we try to cater for special diets. Otherwise most of our guests enjoy a full Irish breakfast, cooked with local ingredients where possible. There is a guests' sitting room with television, a spacious dining room and large garden and farm. Rocky the dog is part of the family. Everyone enjoys tea and home-made cake on the house on arrival. You pay 35 Euros a night each, with children under 12 half price, sharing the parents' bedroom. Under fours are free, and we can supply a travel cot if required.

Staying at this elegant farm house was such a treat. You get a feel for a time and place in Ireland like no other. Everything was done to perfection; it was the best breakfast to be offered at an Airbnb! The hosts were so kind and welcoming. I highly recommend this rural farm setting.

It was wonderful staying with Jean. The house was delightful, peaceful and tranquil. Just what we needed to clear our heads and hearts from stress. Jean was very accommodating, and her breakfast was delicious, especially the home made brown bread! Would recommend to anyone looking for a little gem tucked away outside of the city-but not too far outside of Derry.

Jean's place is a quiet rural setting just a short drive out of Lifford and Strabane. I visited all of Donegal and North Ireland coast from this location. Quiet, walking lane for winding down before bed, family friendly, excellent breakfast menu, and excellent value. Highly recommended.

Longvale House has been in the McKean family for three generations,ánd we have been entertaining guests at our comfortable, traditional bed and breakfast on the farm since 1987.
