About this listing
A clean and cozy camper in the heart of East Nashville, with an adjacent bathhouse, and an outdoor shower. A true retreat where you can hole up and rest, make coffee and cook, or get out on foot to explore Nashville's most dynamic neighborhood. Less than two miles to downtown.
This is a 1962 Shasta camper I recently gutted and remade. I tried to make the place as open and spacious as 100 square feet can feel. The walls and ceiling are white wood, there are windows all around, and I did away with the original bathroom in favor of a bathhouse in a garden shed. Nestled in the back garden of my place, it feels like a hideout. The bathhouse had old heart pine floors and a very deep clawfoot tub and shower. Hidden between the two structures is an outdoor shower.
The kitchen is small but quite functional. There is a tiny fridge and an electric stove top, and all the amenities you need to make the most of the neighborhoods best artisan food markets, all within close walking distance.
The bed is a full and comfortably sleeps two. However, the ceiling is low and if you're much over 6'1" you'll have to slightly duck.
There's a nice fire pit and supply of kindling available as well.
There is no washer and dryer as space is limited, but if you have been on the road a while or have booked the place for a longer stay, laundry is available when I'm around, up in the main house.
Interaction with Guests
Every guest is different. I always respect privacy first. At times I've invited folks to dinner, as I often cook for friends and serve supper in the garden. My house is a social place, but there is good separation between the house and the camper and I never allow my gatherings to disrupt the calm of the back garden.
There's honestly not a better location for a walkable Nashville experience. Just a mile across the river from downtown, this is the neighborhood that keeps getting the town so much attention from afar.
There are at least a dozen good coffee shops restaurants and bars within a five minute walking radius of the camper, as well as vintage clothing, record stores, galleries, and antiques. Some of the restaurants include Mas Tacos, Barista Parlour, Margot, Marche, Treehouse, Rumour's East, Holland House and Pharmacy, and plenty more.
There's also an amazing local meat purveyor a block away, Porter Road Butchers, as well as a seasonal farmers market on Saturdays, also a block away. For basics I like the Turnip Truck for groceries and Woodland Wine Merchant for drinks.
This is a neighborhood that seems to have anew place opening every few weeks, and it keeps getting better. Oh, there's also a soul dance party every Monday night at the Five Spot that's a total blast.
There is a public bus stop with service to downtown a three minute walk away.
