About this listing
We have a three bedroom house just a short walk from Kennington tube station where you get access to both branches of the northern line. There are also bus's that go just about anywhere in London from the Walworth road (three minute walk). If you are here to see Parliament and The London Eye you can walk there and stop for a bite on the Southbank. There are three rooms available this room is a double on the first floor with dresser and wardrobe with coat hangers for hanging clothes.
Lovely garden and patio area. The house is back from any roads so there is no traffic noise :) If you require meals this can be arranged, there will be breakfast cereal, bread for toast etc available in the morning. Feel free to help yourself to teas and coffee.
There is an A-Z in the room to help you find your way about. We are happy to show you the local pub which has an excellent wine list and great menu all at a good price.
Also Parking can be arranged for an additional £10 a day, notice required.
We love to meet new people and socialise however sometimes we can be busy with our work and study. We do like to travel ourselves and may on occasion be out of town but always contactable, with friends nearby if required. When we are around we do pride ourselves on our friendly Scottish/Irish hospitality and do strive to make your stay feel as close to home as possible.
Kathryn and Ben
This is your home while travelling and you should treat it as such :)
You will have full access to the kitchen and livingroom while you visit. Bens room is off the livingroom so we tend to move to the kitchen to keep talking after 10pm on weeknights.
Interaction with Guests
If i am in town i am always up for a chat etc however sometimes i have a paper due and can be busy. I work full time as a firefighter and i am studying part time for my masters so sometimes its hectic but most of the time i like a good chat. I would like to say though that it is not a hotel and its our home so the experience is very different to that of a hotel. I will try and help you in any way i can but i dont make a very good concierge. There are lots of leaflets and ideas for things to do in London on the table in the kitchen.
There is a street market and lots of great local pubs that do fabulous food.
This is perhaps the best neighbourhood in London for accessing the rest of London. There are good transport links for all of London including tube and buses.
There is no smoking in the house but we have a lovely area outside in the garden with table and chairs where that we ask you to smoke instead.
Other than that we are very easy going and ask only that you clean up after yourself if you use the kitchen, we have a dishwasher to make that easier :)
We had a great stay with Kathryn when in London. Kathryn was very helpful with providing directions, giving suggestions of what to see/where to go, and is incredibly kind and welcoming. The place is a very short walk to the tube and not too far of a walk or run to the River Thames as well! We'd definitely recommend - thank you so much, Kathryn!
I traveled with my wife and my little boy (he's 18 months old). We had a great time at Kathryn's. She's very nice with the three of us, and helped us with everything we needed.
Her place is very confortable. It's located in a very quiet area, which is well connected with all the important places in the city. You can walk to Westminster in 20 minutes. There are lot of buses from there, and it's only 5 blocks away from the tube.
Our stay in Kathryn's home was wonderful! Her house was warm and inviting, the room was comfortable, and the house was in a great location. It was far enough away from the city to be quiet and comfy at night, but still very close and everywhere was incredibly easy to get to by bus and tube. Kathryn herself was so kind, funny, and welcoming. London was a wonderful city and I am so glad I stayed here while visiting.
The House and room was nice once we found it.
Two London Cabbies and a BA Transfer Driver all found the address tricky to find.
Kathryn was pleasant and friendly.
Kathryn is young and we are in our sixties....So adjust the walking times accordingly.
All in All we had a good time.
As I said before....Kathryn was very nice.
Kathryn was THE BEST host! She was so friendly and we loved getting to chat and hang out with her. She gave great advice about what to do in London - which we so appreciated. Her place is in an awesome location - close to the tube and all of the main parts of London. The room was great and the apartment was very quintessentially London. There's even beautiful outdoor space. I highly recommend staying here!
We think it was all quite wonderful and international. Lovely. We did not meet Kathryn but we knew that in advance. I visited London with my 10 year old son and we enjoyed staying at Kathryn's place. Good room and bathroom. Small but comfortable home, very close to underground and city centre. To be recommended!
