I speak German and English (and with hands and feet, also some French, Italian and Spanish). I'll be happy to help and advise you on your travels. I'm a resident of Zurich and know the city and Switzerland quite well. My experiences as a "slumber mother" (Schlummermutter) are almost legendary. If you tell me in advance which occasion brings you to Switzerland I can provide you with necessary information.
I ASSURE YOU, YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR STAY
Kloten/Zurich a few min. from the Airport:
Adjacent to agricultural and recreational areas. The sunny ground floor apartment with a protected patio invites you to linger just as the local environment entices you for walking.
Downtown Zurich is just a few minutes away.

No matter what your plans are, Kloten offers everything your heart desires. The closest bus stations are about 250 meters away. Both bus lines operate to the railway stations in Kloten and Zurich Airport, with no changing necessary.

FROM THE AIRPORT STATION: Take the S2, or S16 to Zurich main station. Or many, many other possibilities to national and international directions.
BUSES AND TRAMS travel directly to the heart of Zurich. It is well worth using them if you want to see a little bit more of the city than just subway tunnel walls.
IN THE CANTON OF ZURICH you really don't need a car. Buses, trains, trams and ships can be used with the same tickets. They operate at regular intervals. On weekends you pay an addition night fee of CHF 5.00 and they will get you home from downtown Zurich, almost right to the front of my house door in Kloten. Smile.
for endless/unlimited rides within the canton of Zurich and / or all of Switzerland are available at a reasonable cost. But these are only available for those who are permanent residents abroad.
A “half tax" card can be very useful too. Each ticket is only half of the regular price and good for one year. (Price CHF 175.00)

Parking garages are very expensive during the day. Public parking prices depend on the location and can be CHF 2.00 per hour and much more. Parking max time is 2 hours. Additional payments are not allowed. Don't even try – you will have nightmares about the penalties.
Airport parking garages are CHF 6.00 for the first hour. Tickets given by policeman are fines, no ifs, ands or buts. I can tell you stories………. (If you shop in the stores at the airport, ask for A FREE HOUR PARKING).
HIGHWAY (Autobahn) 1,000 meters away- These may only be driven with a vignette. Yearly price for 2013 is still CHF 40.00 (January through December).
SPEED LIMITS IN SWITZERLAND. We are the country with probably the most street policemen and speed cameras. They are almost on every corner. So please always remember to stick to the limit in Switzerland. The tickets can tear holes in your budget quite quickly. Proceed no faster than allowed ,and certainly not faster than the 30s in urban areas. Within city limits the speed is generally in the 50's. The speed limit on local roads is 80 kmh and maximim 120 kmh on highways (Autobahn).
AND ONE MORE THING: The police will find you, no matter where you are going. On your next entry into Switzerland they will catch you.... this happened to friends of mine. A little shocking when you get woken up by two police.
ESPECIALLY FOR AMERICANS:
No right turn on red. In Zurich city the fine is CHF 250.- Never cross a safety line. Your driver's license can be taken away on the spot.
Always yield, and give way to pedestrians.
AND BE AWARE and very careful: We have very bad habits of walking across the street without looking.
Don't use your mobile while driving. Tickets are CHF 100.-- and up.
