Come stay at the mountain view off the grid, solar powered Yurt that is perched on a south facing mountainside with incredible views of 3 14ers including Capitol Peak. It is a completely private location in the middle of nature yet only two miles from Basalt, and 20 miles from Aspen and Carbondale.

The space
The yurt is 24' diameter (452 sq. ft.) circular cozy space. It accommodates up to 4 guests with a queen size bed and a sleeper sofa. There is a small kitchen (mini fridge, 2 burner cook top, sink, dishes, pots and pans. A dry composting toilet 30’ away and a luxurious outdoor shower.
Organic Linens and towels are provided. Eco friendly cleaning products and materials used for the chemical sensitive.
Our homestead is a non-smoking and fragrance free environment.

The yurt can be heated with a wood stove during the spring and fall (firewood is provided) upon request, due to high fire danger and there is also a propane stove. Outside the front door is a deck overlooking the frying pan valley.

There is running water that comes from a gravity fed spring. The electricity comes from a small solar panel that powers the lights and music. Hammock for chilling out.

The yurt is off the beaten track, so a 4 wheel drive or AWD is required.
This unique yurt is a perfect luxury camping experience.

We have produce growing in the gardens and greenhouse for sale and can email you what is available before you check in and have it stocked in the fridge.

My husband and I own Basalt Mountain Gardens, a whole healing systems landscape and herbal product company that designs, inspires and creates greenhouses, edible, medicinal, sacred gardens and infrastructure. We live off the grid with hydro electric power, and enjoy growing avocados, figs, and citrus in our terraced tropical greenhouse at 7,400'. On our days off we love to create trails on our land, paddleboard, raft, mountain bike, and camp with our daughters.

During your stay

We live below the Yurt and are in and out during the day running our edible landscape business, and at the homestead caring for the animals, gardens, greenhouse and producing herbal products. We hope to inspire you, share a way you can live off the grid and create your own homestead. We are also available for off the grid homestead and greenhouse tours by request for an additional $50 fee. We are also open to trades, please inquire. Thanks.
