Climate
Guanacaste's climate and culture are unique among Costa Rican provinces. The province experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April. Tourists seek out this dry heat during the North American winter to enjoy the breathtaking Guanacastecan beaches. Irrigation of the agricultural land is necessary during the long dry season. From May to October, the climate is similar to that of San José, consisting of showers daily and moderate temperatures. Guanacaste is, however, considerably warmer than provinces residing in higher elevations.

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Casita and Pool. It was quiet and peaceful ; except in the early morning when the howler monkey's growls echoed throughout the hills! Although it is located in the hills; it is only a short ride to many beautiful beaches and good restaurants. Our favorite was Playa Conchal...beautiful shell beaches and clear water! Tim was very accomodating and checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing well.

  • Where to begin? This was quite the amazing experience. Tim's casita had a killer view, and the entire place was tastefully designed for comfort and relaxation. The pool was refreshingly cool and well cleaned when we arrived, you may have to pick out a suicidal bug or two in the morning, but that just adds to the experience. We brought all of our food to cook and found the kitchen totally equipped with all of our cooking needs. I would definitely recommend grocery shopping beforehand, as the location is relatively remote.
The area is beautiful and calm and we enjoyed going for long walks down the shaded road into the local village of Lorena, where, if you are lucky, you will find the bar and Spanish-speakers can exchange philosophical words with Cecilio, the bar tender. We were looking for a comfortable, private place to enjoy each others company, and that is what we found here.
We whole-heartedly recommend staying here, and it an investment you won't regret!

    THANK YOU TIM!!!!!

  • Tim is a great host. He is willing to help in any way he can, even welcomed us with a big bottle of cold water, that day was so hot. The house is better than the pictures, the pool is small but perfect for cooling, the view is amazing and is very close to the best beaches of Guanacaste. I recommend it 100%.

  • The Casita is a nice little building and the view is spectacular. However, the place is in dire need of some TLC. It was filthy when we arrived. There was a layer of grime and dead insects in the washing machine - same story for cupboards, bathroom etc. We bought cleaning supplies and spent a few hours cleaning the place. We were travelling in Costa Rica and rented several different houses - this was the only one that we had to clean on arrival! The bedding was pretty bad and we each bought new pillows as the ones there looked disgusting. The kitchen was not well equipped - though Tim did provide some supplies - table, chairs, plates, glasses, a fan etc. when we asked. The air conditioner in the main room did not work so it was pretty hot. The little pool is cute but was only filtered for an hour or two a day so leaves and insects build up - which is not so appealing. The plumbing is a bit wobbly and shower provided only a drizzle of water. It is a bit of a drive to the beaches but location is quiet and private and we enjoyed early morning walks from the house to see the howler monkeys. This could be a great little spot but we found the state of the place unacceptable.

  • Tim's place is awesome! It's so relaxing that it's actually hard to even get motivated to go to the awesome beaches that are nearby!

  • This was my first experience using Air BnB and it couldn't have been easier. Tim's house is the perfect option if you want to visit the beaches but aren't sure which one (his house is close to several of them- all about 15 to 20 minutes away). There's a small market and restaurants about five minutes away as well. The house is accessed by gate and the area is secure and really safe if you have a rental car. The house was perfect and was equipped with everything you needed (just bring your own towels). The view is awesome and there were a few times during the night it seemed the howler monkeys were right outside our window. I'd definitely stay here again!

  • Just got back from 10 days at Tim's Casita, and just want to go back-NOW!

We arrived late at the front gates at 11:30, woke Tim up and he drove down to let us in no problem! Showed us around, gave us our keys, and left us to this very clean and new house. When morning came we were able to truly appreciate this amazing spot! Breathtaking views of the mountains, close to everything, nice pool perfect to cool off in-everything we wanted. Actually exceeded our expectations! We heard the famous howler monkeys at dawn and at dusk, sound of birds and thats it. No traffic noise. Felt very safe up on the hill. Sky is black at night-watched the stars like never before!

Thanks Tim for being such a great host and especially for renting out this slice of paradise! Amazing deal-best deal of the whole trip!
