About This Listing
Casa de la Luna: Where the comforts of modern luxury meet the natural treasures of Nosara, all within a short walk from the beach. This is a home that truly offers all the amenities. Everything you could want on your next Costa Rican vacation.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Plain and simple. Secluded relaxation, in the middle of everything.
Awake to the sounds of the surrounding jungle. Enjoy your café on the terrace, and watch the howler monkeys swing through the treetops, then head out on foot for a surf, board in arm. Or take an equally short stroll in the other direction, to the tranquil grounds of the Nosara Yoga Institute. Or just lounge in the infinity pool and float the day away.
LOCATION IS EVERYTHING:
For those who are new to the area, Playa Guiones offers an unrivaled blend of Costa Rican authenticity, modern convenience, and natural beauty. A long, beautiful bay in the area commonly known as Nosara, Playa Guiones is one of the most sought-after towns in Guanacaste. The flora and fauna are nothing short of astonishing. The surf is excellent and consistent. There is world-renowned yoga. There are adventure activities.
Just around the corner from the house, the town of Guiones has everything you might need: a wide variety of restaurants and bars, surf schools that offer lessons for all ability levels, a drugstore, a medical clinic, a bank, car, quad and bicycle rentals, souvenir shops, spa and massage therapy services. The neighboring “Yoga Institute” offers daily yoga classes and Instructor Training courses.
For those who know the area, Casa De La Luna is located in the K Section, on the main road just past the Harbor Reef and the Guiones Beach Club, less than a five minute walk to the beach.
ON THE OUTSIDE:
3br/2ba + separate Casita (see below for detail on the Casita)
Gated driveway, covered carport, and secure storage area will make you feel safe and sound from the moment you pull up. There are racks for surfboards and beach gear. The outdoor shower makes for a convenient rinse coming back from the beach. Professionally designed tropical landscaping.
The terrace patio is the place to relax, with room enough for everyone. The patio includes a grill and tons of outdoor seating, surrounding a beautiful infinity pool that looks as if it cascades directly into the jungle. The patio connects to the open concept kitchen and living area through twin sets of french doors. Cast them open to create an expansive, flowing space between all three.
ON THE INSIDE:
Kitchen is sleek, modern, and spacious. It has ALL the amenities, including top-of-the-line appliances. Those who like to cook and eat in, will be pleasantly surprised. Built-in stove/oven, fridge/freezer w/ice maker, dishwasher, blender, nice cutlery, along with the barbecue grill on the patio completes the package.
The living room establishes the elegant, exotic theme that permeates the house. Comfortable sectional couch will fit the whole family. Good music system for tunes.
The master bedroom was designed as a honeymoon suite. All alone on the third floor with two private terraces and wonderful jungle views. Exceptionally comfortable, custom king size bed with white-silk canopy. Large master bathroom, jacuzzi tub, spacious closet, and chaise lounge are nice complements to the Balinese theme. You can truly get away from it all, even with company.
The second floor guest bedroom has a custom queen sized bed, and beautiful hand-carved art. The kids room, on the same floor, includes two sets of bunk beds (1 full, 3 twins), a row of cabinet cubbies for all the kids stuff, and a television. Both second floor bedrooms have private balconies that look out over the gardens.
A/C and ceiling fans in all bedrooms, and throughout house. High speed WIRELESS INTERNET and TELEPHONE.
CHECK OUT THE CASITA TOO:
If you need more room, or if it’s “just the two of you….” Downstairs with a private entrance is a very nice apartment with living room, full kitchen, and master bedroom. Just as nice as the rest of the home. French doors open out to private patio and garden. Also has A/C and ceiling fans. The Casita can be rented separately or in addition to the main house. Just inquire!
Please call or write if you have any additional questions, or if you would like more photos. We look forward to welcoming you to our home, and sharing the beautiful surf and sunsets of Nosara soon.
I would describe our experience as 'lost potential.'
First, let me say that Katie, our manager, was wonderful and very responsive to all our questions and issues during our stay. By far Katie did the best she could with the issues of the home presented to her.
It seems the owner is disenchanted with the property as the home has slipped in its care and upkeep. The house is up for sale which could be the cause for him to have little interest in its status. We felt the owner does not care about the renters of the home as he would rather do the least amount possible for the most amount of money. For the price we paid, we expected a pristine home, which we did not get.
First the exterior: the poolside lounges were filthy and broken to the degree they were not useable and the rattan tables on the patio were torn and past useful life. The bbq was disgusting and only partially worked (3 out of 5 burners were ok) and had not been cleaned nor serviced. The pool and patio were dirty upon arrival and it took 4 days to get the pool clean enough to see the bottom. The steel security bars on windows and doors were very rusty and oxidized and had not been kept up by any means.
Now for inside: the couch and all the pillows were filthy and not cared for, the main bath shower, which most of the family used, was weak and almost not functional, there was no tv service of any kind, there was no water the first day, the ice dispenser had thick lime build up, the spiral staircases although interesting is difficult to navigate and definitely not for children, the master bathroom was hot with no air conditioning and lastly all the bath and beach towels provided were old and worn.
The house has a nice little apartment as well, though we found it to be musty and smelled like sewer all the time and it had a big ant problem.
Overall, the general condition of the house was in a state of neglect.
We have rented many homes in this price range around the world, though this is the first one we have written a negative review on.
Lastly, we thank Katie for all she did for us. The area is amazing and is a great trip for a family.
