About This Listing
The “Vico del Poeta” is some B&B and some guesthouse: the original idea was to create a place with which satisfy all kinds of request. Long or brief stays, summer vacations or cultural stays for a week end. The main building is located in the historic centre of Assisi and offers to its guests two mini-apartments. The hospitality is characterized by an important component of kindness. Guests know that they can ask for our help in every moment: we are helpful but discreet. The apartments (close to the main square and to all the most important monuments) are in a quiet but suggestive alleyway.
Petra is a studio apartment of 25 square meters recently restructured and thought for a couple: its nicest charateristic is the mixture between the original and ancient structure and contemporary equipments with details of design and art. Cozy and intimate the studio apartment is however completely autonomous. The kitchen corner is equipped with two eletric stoves, refrigerator and everything you need to prepare your meals. The bathroom, builded in a old fireplace has a sink, bidet, toilet and box shower. There is naturally a private entrance to the apartment.
The Vico and its apartments have their strong point being in the same time very close to everything and in the real historical centre but also in a secondary alleyway really intimate and quiet. You feel like at home, an very relaxing home.

We were welcomed immediately when Stefano is the ultimate host! The absolute best airbnb experience that we have ever had. He picked us up from the train station. We arrived early and Stefano, being the ultimate host, had worked hard to clean and prepare the apartment for our early arrival. He heard there would be rain and wanted us to be comfortably settled in the apartment. The apartment had everything and more than what we expected. Each morning there was a breakfast basket waiting for us at our door. Stefano checked in our us periodically with helpful information. He even dropped us off at the Hermitage of St Francis one morning. There was no limit to his generosity.
We have had 6 (seis) airbnb stays during our time in Italia. The stay with Stefano is the best - il magnifico. Stefano could not have been a more caring or helpful host. Whether it was patiently explaining the directions to free parking, very near his home, or marking a map of Assisi to assist with our visit. The studio is professional grade, yet homey and cozy. Stefano even recommended a terrific ristorante, La Palotta, where we enjoyed a complete (4 or 5 course) Italian dining (website hidden) Francesco's Basilica is a moving experience whether or not you are Christian.
Stay with Stefano when in the Umbrian/Toscana area. You will have wonderful experience.
Stefano made a fair amount of effort to make our experience to Assisi great, which it was. Without being asked Stefano collected us from the local train station and continued to take us on a short tour of the town en route to really great accommodation. With regards to the accommodation itself the current photographs don't fully do the facilities justices, as they are brilliant! We felt immediately welcome, comfortable and relaxed and Stefano was also a great host in advising us how to get to places, what's worth seeing and experiencing, etc. The added bonus for us was that we hadn't anticipated a bite of breakfast being provided as well, which we really appreciated and immensely enjoyed. Sincerely hoping that this won't be the last time we're in Assisi and be hosted by Stefano. The accommodation has great amenities for self catering and there are some superb local shops to buy local products and cook up a storm. Although Stefano helped with transportation from the station to the accommodation it is worthy to note that travel from the station to Assisi by bus is very easy and accessible.
Take a comfortable room with lots of character, add one magical neighbourhood and a caring host who gives the most fabulous personal service we have ever had and what does is equal? The best Airbnb experience we have ever had!
Everyone says it...and we are going to say it again – Stefano is the BEST HOST EVER! He is so generous and welcoming. All of our communication with him was prompt and clear. He offered to pick us up from the train station and then drove us back when we left. He gave us maps, restaurant suggestions and explained the town and his beautiful BnB. The neighbourhood is absolutely charming. It is close enough to the action to get to the heart of town quickly, but is set back a bit so that it is nice and quiet and homey. The space is even better than in the pictures and he has outfitted it with absolutely everything you will need. Mmmm – the coffee is good! The highlight for us was the breakfast basket he left outside our door every morning. Goodness me, there was a lot of food in there – and something a little different each day. It was like Christmas! All of Stefano’s little personal touches, like the breakfast basket and his hand-painted notes, made this delightful BnB very memorable for us. If you want to feel like a cherished guest while you are away from home, this is the place for you! Thank you Stefano for being the VERY BEST at what you do. We had a fantastic time staying with you in Assisi!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vico del Poeta (Petra apartment). Stefano is a kind, considerate, and thoughtful host, available for any needs (he lives next door) and yet gives guests all the privacy they want. The apartment is quaint and cozy, clean, and well-equipped (good and plenty towels, good quality mattress and bedding, kitchenette more than sufficient for a few days' stay, nice shower with good water pressure). Since it is on the ground floor in a medieval house, there is little natural light, but for a short stay that does not detract from the experience. The location is superb, a quiet side lane just a 2-3 minute walk from the center of Assisi. If you have never been to Assisi or other medieval Italian towns, you should be aware of the fact that it is mainly limited to pedestrian traffic. Take this into consideration if you are traveling with heavy luggage; maybe best to ask Stefano to help you with logistics. The directions he provides are incredibly detailed, but once you get to Assisi you will understand why!
We are excited to leave a review for Stefano!!! He is one of the nicest hosts that we have ever encountered along our travels with airbnb. Stefano knows that he has an amazing city into which he can welcome his guests but from the first moment his goal is to make one's stay in Assisi the absolute best that it can be whether that's for a few days or a week. He is tireless in his efforts to do this. First things first.... He picked us up at the train station on what was a very busy day for him. His newly renovated apartment, in a very historic building, is clean, fully stocked, highly comfortable, heated, and has a great shower!!! Stefano provides breakfast at your doorstep each morning!! Breads, juices, coffee, milk, yogurt. A treat each morning!! He freely shares his knowledge of Assisi which is very helpful given the incredible setting. He provided transportation to local attractions and eventually back to the train station. We had a marvelous time staying in the apartment next to Stefano and his little family there in Assisi. We highly recommend him and his apartment!!!

About the Host, Stefano
Hi, I'm Stefano and I'm the host of "Il Vico del Poeta", a small guest house in the centre of Assisi, town of peace and magic atmospheres.
It's a long time I wanted to create a place through which share my qualities, using the house, and the unique place where I live as a picture frame. I like to talk with people and discover new point of views coming from the world and I like when I see my guests satisfied for their choice (because I know that I'm part of that choice): in a few words, when I see happy people around me.
I think details make the difference; to make a job with passion probably is not enough but it's the first step in “a well-done job”.
My idea was to keep close what I love (my family, art, my home) exploiting the possibilities offered by the place where I live: in short to create a kindly and familiar way to give hospitality. Added to this I liked the possibility to preserve a place, a historical building full of memories, sharing with people some of those memories. My advice is the free mingling with the local colours, even if for few days or few hours: to be a traveller, not a tourist (because each of us is in his small a traveller).
Assisi has many different and interesting faces: going around without a strict plane, carried away by the maze of streets is the best way to find our self and bringing back home an amazing quietness.
Each person has the possibility to express an own private desire because everything here, including the stone, seems as having an answer, a suggestion for soul.
Here you can enjoy even just look to the sky.
Every word is a whisper and the time seems really rest.
