The space

1. Shared use of bathroom. (almost never, we have another one anyways)
2. There's no access to the kitchen. (but there is a mini fridge and a microwave available in the room)
3. There's cable TV with 150 channels and Spanish channels.
4. WI-FI is available for free but there is also a computer connected to the internet for the exclusive use of the guests.

1. This is not a for profit business. It is my daughter's room and we rent it only when she's away at school to help her with her college expenses. There are items in it that may be of no use to the visitor but have value to her.
2. The floors are old but clean. However, it doesn't matter how much the floor gets cleaned it will always keep the 'stained' look that old, unstripped floors have. It's unfair to us to call the floor 'dirty' when it's only exhibiting the signs of age. Unfortunatelly some people confuse old with dirty.
3. In order to keep the food smells and conversation noise from travelling out of our kitchen and into the room, the access door to the hallway and bathroom should be kept closed when not using the bathroom. It's unfair to us to be critizised by the guests for the kitchen smells and noise after we specifically requested that the hallway door be kept closed.
4. Since guests are staying for short periods of time there is no storage space provided. However, there is plenty of floor space to lay suitcases open and many guests have made productive use of this fact. It is unfair to criticize the lack of space after we have specifically informed the prospective guest that we do not offer storage space.

Guest access

There's no guarantee of privacy outside the bedroom but there's a separate entrance to the room. Guest privacy inside their room is high on our list of things to respect. Also, guests can come in and out of the apartment at any time. We don't have curfews as we are all adults.

Interaction with guests

I will respond to all inquiries that guests have and, when asked, provide some advice on places to go.

Other things to note

Because of its accessibility to the rest of the City and the multiple entertainment venues within it this neighborhood Williamsburg has become the most popular destination to stay for NYC visitors.
But we aim to keep it affordable.

Obed was such a great host. He was so kind and easy to communicate. A room was spacious and clean even though it was old. It was the best location to walk around Williamsbug. :) I was satisfied!

Obed's place was everything we wanted for our 4-day stay in the Big Apple: a stone's throw (a very weak hand) from Bedford Ave and everything it has to offer yet quiet in the night. Short walk from the subway station and all types of eateries. The room is spacious and has amenities like TV, micro and fridge. The bed was amazing! Could easily fit 3 people and we were lucky enough to have the bathroom all to ourselves. Private entrance and two sets of keys made us free to come and go as we liked. Four thumbs up!

Obed is a nice person, very available. the room is not the best and it is old. If you have problems with the cleanness, don't go there. We were on low budget, but not sure if we would ever return to that place again for the next nyc stays

Response from Obed:
Most of the houses on NYC are old. And Williamsburg is over 150 years old. Our house was built on 1905 and rebuild 30 years ago. In the last few months we have made a few improvements like a new floor and renewed part of the bathroom but you can't expect newness in this neighborhood unless you are paying three times what we charge. The only new buildings in the neighborhood are over four stories and high rises. Houses like the one we live in are in short supply and very much in demand. I wonder what amenities the guest is mentioning. There is internet, microwave, refrigerator, bathroom with exclusive use and cable TV. And, at the suggestion of a previous guest, now we also provide hangers and a chest of drawers for clothes. Did we miss something? The floors are new, installed just six months ago, very reflective with a light brown wax color. And we only have an 18" X 24" floor mat at the entrance. We don't have carpets as these may trigger allergic reactions.

Obed is very friendly and me and my kids had a good time in New York. The acces to the Subway is just a few minutes up the Avenue which makes it an easy ride into the main visiting points of Manhattan.

This place is great quality considering the price. The location is excellent, we even walked into Manhattan up to Time Square and back (yes, very long walk but doable!). We found free street parking when we arrived and didn't have to move our car during our stay. Also, we had all our privacy, didn't feel like we intruded into someone else's home. Bed was comfortable. Can't complain but to be honest, the fridge needs a good cleaning, the walls could use a new coat of paint, the bathroom tiles were moldy and the electrical radiator rusty. Regardless of these details, we would go back due to its excellent location and its decent price! Thanks again for having us :)

Response from Obed:
The fridge is clean now. We clean it on a weekly basis around the weekend but these guests came in as the previous left and we miss the fridge in the rush to have the place ready. Our apologies. About the paint, we do not own the building. It's the owner's choice when he wants to paint. But we try to keep the walls clean. And the same goes for the bathroom tiles (although their color does not mean that they're moldy, just old) and the bathroom radiator. But we're planning to ask the owner for permission to change the bathroom radiator and make other bathroom improvements in the fall before the heating season starts. And maybe next year we'll ask for permission to paint the apartment. For us the important issue is that the items in the room serve the guests' needs. The room itself we can't control because we do not own the building. But we really liked these guests and will try to make improvements to the room so that they find it more attractive when they come back to the neighborhood.
